Even that might not be enough. Tbh i think Tait is going to be a really good catcher when he’s ready.
May 19, 20251 yr The Mets will soon crash back down to Earth - given up the fewest runs in the majors so far and their staff isn't nearly that good.

May 19, 20251 yr anthony on the ringer Philly special kind of alluded to what i said about them showcasing Abel
May 20, 20251 yr Freeland with a 9.77era at Coors Field and yet we can’t get anything going against him. This crap is so old man. Every damn time
May 20, 20251 yr Leave it to the Phillies to not be able to hit freeman who came into the game with a 6+ ERA
May 20, 20251 yr Probably a good time to tell people Rhys hoskins slashes are .291/.392/838 with 5 HRs and 25 RBI. Hitting .350 with RISP.On pace for 18 HRs and 90RBI
May 20, 20251 yr The Phillies are really going to drop one to the worst baseball team in modern day MLB history, aren’t they?

It wouldn't be high on my list BUT, he may be the RH bat they could use to at least balance out the lineup without giving up high end prospects. This would also require Bryce to go to right field though. Would he do that?

There was the report this offseason that they were going after Alonso and Harper offered to go back to the OF. There’s a chance the brewers are out of the race. Hoskins might be the best right handed bat on the market. And he isn’t signed long term so it’s not costing you a ton. I’d bring him back cause it really elongates your offense and it solves one of the OF issues by doing so.

There are plenty of guys who can give you 18 friggen homeruns and play infinitely better in the field. No need to bring back another older injury recovering player who didnt fit on the roster in the first place and try again. This is a guy who literally could not catch balls thrown to him at first base.

This is a guy who literally could not catch balls thrown to him at first base.Literally he hit .292 the year they went to the World Series with runners in scoring position. One of their biggest issues the last two postseason is that they get these runners in scoring position that they can’t bring in. Currently, Hoskins is hitting 341 with runners in scoring position. The fact is it’s not so much the 18 home runs that they need. It’s the fact that when they get into a bind with runners in scoring position in the playoffs, they have trouble bringing them in because they rely too much on hitting a home runs. The fact that he is hitting 341 with runners in scoring position and the year the Phillies went to the World Series he was arguably their best hitter besides Harper with RISP.Turner isn’t exactly lighting the world on fire at shortstop defensively but right now he’s one of the best hitters in the NL as he’s hitting .303 with .358 OBP. I can live with the mistakes at first because the Phillies could use a right handed bat in the middle of that lineup that can hit with runners in scoring position. They look great against the Rockies and the pirates because they aren’t very good baseball teams. But when they faced the Mets like last postseason, you’re gonna need somebody in the middle of that lineup that can hit with runners in Fing scoring position. Like last postseason where they couldn’t Fing do it. Against the diamondbacks the last two games of the NLCS (really could say game 3 and even game 4 kimbrel blew they left a ton of guys in base).I’d add they never replaced Rhys’ bat so they’ve been a RH middle of the lineup bat short. It was supposed to elongate the lineup with the addition of Turner. Instead when he got hurt they assumed JT would not decline as much as he has as a hitter. He did. marsh would step up and he hasn’t. Bohm would be a middle of the lineup guy and he isn’t. Kepler would be what he was 2-3 years ago. Hes not.Pete Alonso is not a good defensive first baseman (last two days shows it), but the Mets don’t beat the Phillies or brewers without him last year. It’s why they tried to acquire him this offseason as a RH bat in the middle of the lineup and move Harper back to OF. Pete going on 31 and Hoskins is 32. Not much of an age gap.Not many guys on the market that are gonna give you slashes of .291/.400/.854. Also see a ton of pitches. Hoskins might actually wind up being the best hitter at the deadline with how it’s going. He’s now 2 years removed from his ACL and on pace to have one of his best years of his career. Also Phillies could get guys better than Hoskins hitting 18 HRs and better fielding yet their solutions the last 2.5 years in replacing his bat in the middle of the lineup have been Rodolfo Castro, Austin hays (was bad here prior to his kidney issue) and max kepler. The issue is not omg Hoskins is the great baseball player and how they let him walk. The issue is the Phillies let him go and did a terrible job replacing the production that he gave that lineup as a RH middle of lineup guy. They’ve been a bat short since his injury
May 20, 20251 yr Tbh the Phillies could get really hot next 28 games before tough stretch at end of June to ASG. It’s a really nice schedule set up. Got 3 at COL, 3 at A’s, 3 vs. ATL, 3 vs. MIL, 3 at TOR, 3 at PIT, 3 vs. cubs, 3 vs. TOR & 4 at MIA. Last 21 games before ASG: 3 vs Mets, 3 at hou, 3 at atl, 3 vs. SD, 3 vs reds, 3 at SF and 3 at SD. The 21 games before the all star break is going to be revealing cause they have 12 games against 3 of the best teams in the NL and the Braves who seem to be turning it around (believe strider and acuna are are in their rehab assignments and are going to return)
