I’ll be at that ballpark on Saturday hopefully Schwarbs can do that too

What did you think of the stadium and games?

Saturday night was one of the best games I’ve seen in person and to watch the MLB in a minor league stadium was a very cool experience, got to go down the field by the netting and say hi to the players and coaches as they came onto the field and walked down the first base line to their dugout. Would definitely go again

I liked Sacramento as a town. I was there with my brother, and we were celebrities on K Street on Friday night, because people just could not believe that someone would fly out to Sacramento. Over and over, someone came up to us with our Phillies jerseys on, and asked us what we thought of the city, if we really came out for a game, etc.

That’s actually surprising especially since Sacramento has quite a big Philadelphia following. There’s an Eagles bar called the Limelight right behind K Street that gets on the local news channels for playoffs and this past Super Bowl. It’s a real fun crowd and a lot of eagles and Phillies fans always show up there.

They are on a roll, I have no doubt they will ride this wave into the playoffs and a world series victory

They have Ranger, Nola, Abel (not really), Painter (not really), and Walker (not really) competing for one spot in the October rotation.

This is a problem of sorts. Like I said in earlier posts, it’s incredible depth for the regular season to ring up W’s and get you into the playoffs.

Come October, 4 of those guys are going to be doing very little to help this team. They are not natural relievers. They almost certainly would not be high leverage guys and would only be middle relief depth for the pen.

How can they leverage those guys into October help? It really has to be by trading them. Putting people in the bullpen that don’t belong there isn’t going to be a boost.

One of the people that talked to me said the farthest they normally get people from is the Bay Area or Fresno.

Great timing for Ranger to have his period of dominance before he slows

Topper needs to send Daniel Robert out there to put a ball in Acuna's ribcage tonight

They've never played that way under Thomson - don't see it happening unless the players take it upon themselves to do it

Phillies have made many mistakes with when they bring guys back and how they use them, but this years plan with Ranger seems to be perfect so far.

This will be Kingery's first big league action since 2021 for the Phillies. Wow. Give the guy credit, he keeps chugging along.

I’m curious to see if he’s at least better than Rodolfo Castro.

I keep beating this dead horse, but I’m dying to know everyone’s opinion on this.

The Phillies sit atop the MLB standings thanks largely to the extreme depth of their rotation. That depth won’t be as advantageous in October.

It’s entirely possible that Ranger, Abel, Painter, and Walker won’t be all that useful to us in October.

Do you trade them for bats? Do you trade starting pitching for bullpen help? Feels wrong. Do you put them in the bullpen? That’s the same thing and it may really be messing with them. Quality starters don’t instantly convert into single inning high leverage relievers.

And as stacked as this rotation may be, it doesn’t exactly have staying power. Wheeler is old, Luzardo and Ranger aren’t under contract, and they aren’t going to rely on anything from Nola and Walker moving forward. So sending off starters to other teams and the bullpen comes at significant risk for 2026 and beyond, when this depth thins out fast.

Tend to think Ranger and painter are going to be BP arms in the postseason. Ranger has shown he can be an effective BP arm in 2022. With painter, i think they probably hope he can be their David price like what the rays did. I still think Abel is getting dealt for a BP or a OF. Tbh if they could move Nola to get off his contract so they can allocate money to ranger and Luzardo it’d be smart. Luzardo has another year but Ranger is a FA at year’s end. Frankly think he’s gone. Probably made their decision to retain Sanchez over him.
