September 6Sep 6 Yeah anyone who bought what they were selling in August is a fool. They are a good team - not a great team.

I said it at the beginning of August that they needed to take advantage of that schedule. That was the softest month they had of the entire season. If they didn’t get hot and win a bunch of games, they weren’t gonna make the playoffs with their September schedule. I think they’ll find enough wins and they’ve given themselves enough cushion. But they’re not beating any of the good teams in the playoff. I don’t even think they’ll beat the Cubs cause they can’t score enough runs. What’s gonna happen is you’ll be in a close game until the bullpen comes in then implodes cause you can’t get to Duran.

September 6Sep 6 Since Dbacks series started we are 10-46 with RISP. .217 avg. they have had 1 hit or less with RISP in 4 of those 6 games. Heck have had 1 game in their last 7 where they’ve had more than 2 hits with RISP. without game 2 vs. dbacks it’s even worse. It’s 4-32 (.125) over the start of 13 game stretch vs current playoff teams

I went and looked at all the teams that are currently in the NL playoff field. the Phillies are hitting .248 with risp. But then when you take a deeper dive into it, it’s really skewed because they had 3 games where they were just absolutely ridiculous. the numbers go from .248 to .177. Which is kind of what they’ve done in the playoffs since the Dbacks series. Dbacks series games 1 and 2 awesome. Then flatline rest of the series. Which has been their pattern and skews the overall stats. I’d add there’s 10 games where they didn’t even get a hit with Risp vs. those teams. Meaning in 31 games they didn’t get a hit in 32% of them. That doesn’t include two games they didn’t even get anyone in scoring position.

Yes but the reality is this team was never making enough moves to fix the issues to get them to be a legit contender. They are revealing themselves more when they play teams like Atlanta, brewers and dodgers. I’m more irritated that Dave consistently comes up short in making the moves in the offseason to help this team go over the top. Add on what he added at the deadline wasn’t enough nor fixed their larger problems overall. Again Arraez isn’t a cleanup hitter. He’s hitting about 75 points worse with risp. Harper gets on base more and it helps his OBP as teams are willing to let Arraez try to win games with RISP over Harper. bullpen needed multiple arms we got Raley who prior to today pitched 3 pitches in the span from August 26 to September 5 and hasn’t pitched a full inning since August 18. Killian who wasn’t good anyway.Doesn’t help that Turner has no business hitting 2nd and schwarber has seen a massive drop off in slug and OPS since moving to leadoff
September 7Sep 7 Welp, at least we got another excellent Nola outing. If he can give us another 5 good outings it will surely help the cause.
September 7Sep 7 Lineup is pretty pathetic. It’s really started when they went on that road trip They really need to start thinking about moving guys around in the lineup because the lineup as currently constructed does not work well enough against better teams. I don’t think it makes a big difference anyway. If you’re not gonna move Turner down to like 6 or lower in the lineup. Then move them back to lead off where he showed he was at least competent this year. I’d really go with a lineup of this (they’ll never do it because it’s too many lefties in a row)TurnerArraezHarperSchwarberBohmStottCrawford/HillJtMarsh/bdlc

Only way you can do schwarber leadoff is to either move Arraez to 2nd which is 3 LH in a row which creates a hole at cleanup. Or move Bohm to 2nd behind schwarber since he’s hitting well. Issue there is Arraez currently hitting .236 with RISP and .312 no risp. He’s not a cleanup hitter. He doesn’t have the power to be hitting .236 with risp

Because that’s why Bryce Harper struggled was they had nobody behind him and using Bohm mostly. Alec Bohm is not a good answer. Bohm is way too inconsistent to be there. It either has to be Arraez because they don’t have a better option or it has to be schwarber to give Harper protection

He’s too all over the place with his swings. He does have a good clutch gene. But you saw yesterday where he just struck out on three pitches that weren’t even in the zone. When he tends to play more that type of stuff happens more frequently. Also Turner isn’t hitting well but relamuto and marsh have actually been worse over a long period of time. I’d have Turner where JT is. Plus they won’t move him down that farI think you’re screwed either way because they never solve the problem of getting themselves a legit cleanup. Arraez and someone like arorzarena completely changed the lineup. Arraez by himself helps but not enough.

September 7Sep 7 End of year trade luzardo and schawrber and a few others, can re stock the farm system maybe, this team is going no where fast, but see i was right, split
September 7Sep 7 If mizio falls apart down the stretch luzardo has a legit case. Hes been lights out. Extremely unlikely but man i root for mizio to fall apart and us to exactly destroy sale on Friday

It gives Harper and schwarber potentially guys on every time to make bigger impacts. Plus pitchers are going to have to Pitch to at least one of schwarber or Harper back to back. I’m guessing they choose Schwarber because he strikes out more. But that means he’s likely gonna see a pitch in the zone because they’re gonna pitch around Harper and if he takes a walk, they have to pitch to him.If we wanted to move Turner down then I’d go Arraez, Bohm then Harper and schwarber. I think Bohm gets some pitches to hit between Arraez and Harper
