You can not continue to run Walker out there

They’ve got to have innings eaters in the minors that would at least have a first pass edge over Walker due to lack of scouting reports and familiarity.

Doubt they have the guts to DFA Walker. That's some humble pie that both DD and Middleton would have to eat. One can dream though. 

Of course as bad as he is, once again the offense no shows. Schwarber with 2 more k's. Just an abomination

Offense getting better at bats this game

I am excited to see all the changes this offseason.  Team will look very different next year 

Just pointing out if the Phillies didn’t dick around with painter last year and just did the surgery in March he’d be back by now. Probably be your 5th starter on an inning limit for the rest of the year.

Don’t think we can move some guys and others didn’t sign here to just be traded. Castellanos is going to be here next year with 2 years and $40 mil left. He played well for most of 2023 and had no market. Schwarber has 1 year left and frankly i don’t see us trading him in the offseason. Possibly at the deadline if we are out of it. Realmuto is back cause his value is non existent with the year he’s had and - year left. Maybe a deadline deal. Plus we have no one else til Tait is ready. Love Marchan but guess what? He’s hurt again in the minors. Thats his issue. Harper has a no trade so he’s not going anywhere unless he asks out. Not getting off Turner’s contract with the amount of year’s left. Nola has 6 years left. I could see him being dealt but you are gonna take back less due to his contract. Wheeler just got an extension. Could see a contender wanting him but i dont see us dealing him with painter just coming back. They aren’t trading Ranger or Sanchez as they are the future with painter

i can see them moving on from marsh to go out and upgrade LF. Rojas unless he’s a part of a trade is back. Stott is back in 2025 because Caba nor miller will be ready til 2026 at the earliest. I actually think the bullpen likely looks a lot different. Estevez is likely gone. Hoffman may or may not be back. Strahm and Kerkering might be the only two definitively back. Ruiz is probably a long relief guy. Lazar might be in there.

if i were to guess marsh (unless he turns it on down the stretch), bullpen, walker and Stubbs are different. I’m guessing we also bring in a 5th starter cause painter will be on an innings restriction.

Five games is a line of sorts and the sheet just got real. Will they respond or will they wilt further?

Sunday is now a bullpen game, so another lost series.  Most likely a sweep.  

If Stott still has that rainbow colored song come on at our next home game, I’m smashing my tv. 

Marsh will two hits and no strikeouts.  Does he go back to 0-4 and two strikeouts in his next chance?

The risp has been an issue for 3 years now. They’ll feast for 2 games then famine/look poor for like 5-6 games. The overall numbers aren't indicative of what the overall problem is. They are wildly inconsistent. There’s going to be ups and downs but they are all over the place depending on the game. Even in 2022 they had similar type of issues. Wasn’t nearly as extreme as last year and this year. The difference was they had Rhys hitting 292 with RISP and they got hot at the right time so it was overlooked that they had these type of issues with consistency with RISP.

You didn't know? They can't fire anybody. That shows panic. That's why Thomson keeps shoving the same line-up down our throat's game after game. Just listen to him, it's better to do nothing and continue to let the season spiral out of control. Apparently doing something different will cause them to play worse, as if that's possible.

The firing of Thomson and long i somewhat understand. They probably have done it earlier in the season if they were playing like this cause they did it with Girardi. This late, they won’t do it. Frankly I’m surprised the mariners did it. Which tells me the GM is likely in trouble if they fail to make the playoffs and he’s trying to save his own job.

the no drastic changes to the lineup is a bigger issue. Should’ve done that in the nlcs last year when basically everyone struggled the last 5 games of the series. Don’t want to show panic but really you also don’t want to show stubbornness either. Stubbornness can beat you just as easily. Frankly they need to show panic because it’s the most urgency they’d have shown in months. It’s why i said I’d take schwarber out of leadoff and into cleanup. really start trying other things. Clearly it isn’t working like years past with how they’ve played the last 3 months dating back to the Rockies and giants road trip as they are 37-41. So try something new. Worse that happens it doesn’t work and you can go back to it. Not winning now anyway so what difference is it if it’s not working a new way

No I get not firing Rob now, but how about Long? WTF does he do? Make him the sacrificial lamb to send a message. In regards to his lineup, if he's not gonna change anything, then what's the point of a Manager then? Just put one of the analytic dorks in the dugout and let them run the game by the numbers. Rob would rather be their friend though and be liked instead of having to make tough decisions.

I don’t disagree with firing long, but the problem is going to be who you gonna get to replace him with a month left in the season. You have to have somebody that can communicate with the players and get them to change. I don’t think it’s just gonna wake them up firing him because they’re still gonna have the same flaws that they have you need somebody that can fix some of their flaws. Or get through to them and help them snap out of it. Essentially the guy you hire is just an interim hitting coach. Not really a bunch of great in house candidates in the organization. Add on if it crashes and burns anyway and you fire Thomson then that hitting coach is likely gone at the end of the year as well. So gonna need to either promote from within (we really don’t have great in house candidates. I’d have said Charlie Manuel but health prevents him from doing it) or have someone from the outside willing to do the job for basically a month and candidate pool is not going to be robust. I’d add a chance if you fire long to send a message that you get the same thing that happened with the eagles and they just completely roll over and die as a lot of players love long.

I don’t disagree with you that I would fire Kevin Long to try to send a message.  you’re spiraling anyways. But there is a world where where it doesn’t send a message and they actually just give up entirely. I know they’re playing bad and they look awful, but I don’t think it’s from a lack of effort (besides Turner not running it out a couple weeks ago). I think if you make that move and it backfires, you’re going to get guys not caring and just the season completely slips away.
