August 23, 20242 yr It's pretty simple to me - early in the season the Phillies beat up on trash teams on the way to a great record. The schedule has been significantly harder in the second half, with much better pitching, and they're struggling. They are closer to a .500 team than they are to the nearly .600 winning % they currently have. They still haven't fixed their issues going back to when they got no-hit against the Astros in the World Series - they chase way too many pitches out of the zone and make it way too easy for these pitchers to get through innings without laboring at all. One other thing I noticed last night - once JT hit that double and Stott scored to get us within one, Snediker immediately went to the pen. Up to that point Schwellenbach had been dominating us, but the minute Snediker sensed it was starting to unravel for him, he yanked him. Topper would have left him in for at least 2-3 more batters and lost the lead in the process. He sometimes trusts these guys WAY too much - can't sense when it's time to be a manager and stop trying to be everyone's buddy.
