Too bad he didn't use that mentality in the last inning on Sunday.

Winning tonight is probably not going to happen but if it did it would be big.  You'd end up winning the series and edging up to an 8 game lead.  In the current slate of 17 games which we've been tracking we would sit at a 5-2 start and we have Suarez returning over the weekend if the prognosis holds.

Note: Nice to see Marsh drive in the game winner last night.  We need to see Rojas, Marsh, and Wilson all feel good about their situation to be able to maximize a rotation among them.  We can get down on Marsh, rightly so at times, but we do need him to produce during the rest of the year in the games he plays in.  One part about getting back somewhere near the Apr/May period will be to restore a huge amount of overall team enthusiasm.  It was natural for that to ebb over the long season and also in an extended down period but it will be time to pick that full squad energy back up now as we head into the final month.

Or in games 6 and 7 in the NLCS last year.

They really need the win tonight cause Walker is going tomorrow night in KC. And the Braves after our series play the nats. So your 7 game lead might be cut to 5 if they can’t win tonight.

as for marsh, the issue is he never fixed the issues he had from the time he was with the angels. His strikeout rate has gotten worse as the season has continued on. Plus he still can’t hit LHP consistently. At this point he’s a platoon player and if he’s gonna hit RHP as poorly as he has since June then really probably better off playing Weston Wilson and hays along with Rojas until Rojas cools off. They’ll never do it but really if Wilson is going to stay this hot, Rojas is going to hit like he has since the all star break and you get hays back then you should consider sending marsh down to triple A to play everyday and maybe work on some of his issues.

think the bigger issue right now is Bryce. He looks just as awful as he did when he went into that 1-30ish slump. Hes currently 0 for his last 17. Frankly i don’t think he’s healthy. I think when he came back, he hurt his hand and missed the next game. He really hasn’t looked great since then. Add on the theory if he plays first he’ll hold up better isn’t holding water as he’s been worse mod July into late August.

I don't think Bryce's hands are the problem.  I think he's slowly going blind, based on some of the pitches he's been swinging at.

He is going to be needed between now and early November.  After that, we can send him off if that's the right option.

Tbh i think they are going to go in on Soto in the offseason. If they lose before the World Series i think they go all in. But i think the offseason is probably the end of the road for marsh unless he gets hot and just plays out of his mind. If you have a guy for 2.5 years and he hasn’t fixed the issues then you are likely not fixing it going into his 5th season. He is what he is.

right now Wilson is going to get more time. heck Thomson said he might start today against a RHP. When hays returns tomorrow he’s going to get more time. And with how Rojas has hit since AS break (over .300) I’m curious to see what role marsh has. I’m guessing it’s a platoon with Rojas even though Rojas since AS break has shown massive improvement and probably should play every day until he goes into a slump.

hes had cold streaks but he’s never had 1 for 30+ nor as prolonged period of time as this has been. It’s been a month and a half. His slashes since coming back are .209/.284/.396/.679. It’s why i think he is dealing with an injury. Plus he came back from the hammy and the next night they kept him out. Feels like theres something he’s playing through. I’m guessing he gets more days off if we clinch early and can separate ourselves from the brewers to secure a bye.

Think he’s pressing to get out of his slump. Frankly it’s either his hand that kept him out the next night after returning. Or his hammy was worse than they let on but he wanted to come back for that dodgers series

I'm all for getting Wilson time.  That's the right move at this point.  I think Marsh is the rotation/bench guy spelling Rojas and pinch hitting but also getting the nod in left the odd night out against a righty.

I’m also guessing he’s a defensive move late in games in LF as he’s the best fielder of Wilson, hays and himself

With that said, I'd bet money on Marsh at the plate multiple times in key moments between now and the end of the season.  The timely hit or the successful act of moving a guy up a base or getting a RBI sac fly or ground out from Marsh will be important more than once.

Just shows teams willing to fire and make moves late in the season. It’s why i wouldn’t be entirely against firing Kevin long if their hitting woes continue
