I don’t know what the padres odds are to win the NL but they feel like a good bet right now. Arguably at the deadline they constructed one of if not the best bullpens with their acquisitions. Have cease. But getting back darvish late in the year helps. And king has been good. They have the 4th best ERA since July 1st and the 6th best offenses over that time. Since August they have the 2nd best era and 5th best offense In looking at hitting consistency, the Braves, Mets, and Brewers are even less consistently hitting than the Phillies are ... especially the Braves. The Padres are hitting more consistently, but producing less runs than the Phillies with their greater number of hits. Only the Diamondbacks are hitting more consistently than the Phillies. The problem you attribute to the Phillies is a league-wide problem, not a Phillies-specific problem.

The problem you attribute to the Phillies is a league-wide problem, not a Phillies-specific problem. runs per game since June 1st: 1. Mets 2. dodgers 3. dbacks 6. padres 11. Phillies runs per game since July 1: 1. Dbacks 2. dodgers 6. Padres 8. mets 10. phillies runs per game since August 1: 1. Dbacks 2. dodgers 5. padres 6. Phillies 8. Mets runs per game since sept 1: 1. Dbacks 2. dodgers 6. Mets 7. Phillies 11. Padres phillies are at 7 in September cause of the crazy marlins 16 run game. Otherwise that outburst covers up for a lot of their issues. i said last year too. Literally 3 out of the last 4 months Mets and padres offense has been better. again Marlins 16 run outburst is the only reason they aren't sitting at 12th this month. the dbacks and dodgers have consistently been better last 4 months. The Phillies offense overall is 4th because April and May they were one of the best in baseball. The last 4 months they are averaging closer to 8-9th best in baseball. Their risp has also gotten worse and so has their chase rate. even last two it’s around 6-7 but again marlins outlier 16 run game factor into it being skewed. Again they also have a RISP problem vs playoff teams for 3 months. They are hitting .238 vs. current playoff teams/in wild card race dating back to July 1st. It’s actually worse this month as they are hitting .214. They’ve just not been very good with RISP vs. good playoff caliber teams for a while outside of a couple outlier games I said this last year, heading into the playoffs, they’re missing a bat in that lineup since Hoskins got hurt. You wouldn’t have nearly the problems you do if you replaced him with somebody who could replicate that production. You essentially took him out of a lineup and just assumed everybody else would be better so your lineup would not miss him. Stott has regressed. marsh hasn’t been what they thought consistently. Rojas is what he is. And Jt is not as good as he was 2-3 years ago. Rhys hit 292 with risp. When you don’t replace that and you have guys at the bottom of the lineup that aren’t great with runners in scoring position and regressed or haven’t made jumps. It’s a problem. im not worried about the brewers and Mets. I don’t think either makes it to a World Series. More concerned that padres, dodgers and dbacks. Dbacks pitching stats are skewed cause they had a boatload of injuries and finally healthy. Dodgers i have less concern cause their pitching is a mess right now due to injuries. Padres are a pretty complete team it’s why they’ve consistently had the best or second best record in baseball since June, July, August and September. They were just bad in April and May. They’ve evolved into a much better team. The Phillies have played better since middle of August but I’d argue they still aren’t where they were in April and May

Jon heyman keeps bringing him up with the Phillies. He’s actually had a decent year. .266 18 HRs and 73 RBI in 125 games. For a 162 game pace that’s 23 HRs and 95 RBI. Plus he’s a good fielder and can play some first base if need be

September 24, 20241 yr Where did this belief that first base is an easy position come from? First is very difficult. Sometimes Harper runs in to the wall to n left but the way he plays he is still running into things
