September 27, 20241 yr It'll be interesting to see if the Phillies go with 12 or 13 pitchers. I would prefer they go with 14 hitters and 12 pitchers. Hitters- Schwarber, Turner, Harper, Bohm, Castellanos, JT, and Stott are your mainstays (I do wonder if Thomson will do a Stott/ Sosa platoon or just let Stott roll with it regardless of the matchup). For outfield/ bench- Sosa, Stubbs, Hays, Marsh, Rojas, Clemens, Wilson, and Stevenson. That's 15 hitters so they will need to cut one if they roll with 14 or 2 if they want the extra pitcher. As much as I like Clemens, I think he is the one who gets clipped because he can only field either LF or first and both of those are already covered.

I want to say they alluded to the fact they are going to keep an extra hitter because they have better bench players this year than in the past. But really this comes down to your 12th pitcher on the roster is going to either Walker, allard, Gilbert or Lazar. Not sure you want two of those guys.
