Spike Eskin is right, they over did the celebration with the 1 seed on the line, they are basically conceding tonight

Pretty much all of their star position players are playing with exception of Realmuto who I am sure they are resting for the playoffs.

Celebrating a division title is the least of their worries. Every team since the beginning of baseball has celebrated a division title. Chances are the Dodgers and the Brewers will have champagne celebrations as well when they clinch.  Baseball is a long grueling season and to be on top of your division at the end of the season is an accomplishment (celebrating a wildcard berth I do think is lame). My concern, like @e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! has stated, is their offense. This team has a propensity for making scrub pitchers with ERA's in the 4's and 5's look like a reincarnation of prime Nolan Ryan and Randy Johnson. In the playoffs, they are going against the cream of the crop pitching wise. Can they sustain offensive excellence for a month, which is roughly from the start of the NLDS through the World Series? I have my doubts but like everyone here, I'll be rooting like hell for them to prove us wrong.

Walker in with bases loaded. This will most likely end perfectly

With the $18 mil they could’ve had another lights out bullpen arm and probably a good bench bat.

Well this is a loss

Get rid of this guy

Maybe Walker pitches better hungover like a Tin Cup effect.

Update: He doesn’t.

Impressive

Gosh damn this team sometimes

Big picture - Phils manager is as prepared and seasoned as they come.  Bringing TW in is tantamount to a throwaway game.  To me, sure looks like the team is looking past the regular season and trying to keep its best arms fresh for the playoffs.  No way that a casual fan is more tuned into this than the Phillies manager and coaches.

If they look past the regular season they will be playing this time next week

Just gotta win 2 more games to get a bye. Or hope Milwaukee loses two more.

Last two WC in the NL is going to be fascinating. Braves a game behind the Mets and dbacks. If Dbacks lose the Braves are 0.5 game back and tied in the loss column.

Patience my friend.  I have seen a consistent pattern of hand wringing among the Phillies faithful this whole season, and it started right from the beginning.  They're doing something right.

Sorry, I am not familiar with that word

That was a planned disaster waiting to happen. Move on to the next game. Need two.

If the padres manage to sweep the dodgers they’d be tied for 1st in the NL west and own the tiebreaker with the dodgers. The next two nights the padres have cease going against flattery and musgrove going against Bueheller. Both of those matchups favor the padres.

id also like to point out the padres were once 50-50. They are now 91-66. And this game just ended on a triple play by the padres.

If the Mets lose to the Braves, then after158 games there is a three-way tie between the Mets, Braves and D'backs.  D'backs play game 159 tomorrow and then are off Thursday.  Mets and Braves play 158 tomorrow and 159 on Thursday.  If the Mets and Braves split and the D'backs beat the Giants, then two of the three teams will be tied at the beginning of Friday's games.

The AL WC is a bit cleaner with the Tigers and Royals having a 2 game lead on the Twins with 5 to play.  Although KC has to play the Braves in the last three games, while then Twins play the Orioles and the Mariners play the A's.  It won't be easy, but the Mariners could pass the Twins and Royals for the last AL WC.  The Tigers with their last three games against the White Sox appear to be close to a lock for the second AL WC.

Believe the Braves own the tiebreaker over  the dbacks. Currently own it over the Mets as they are 6-5 so far this year against the Mets. If the dbacks lose tonight and the Braves and Mets split the next two means dbacks and Braves are tied and Mets have a 1 game lead. Makes this more chaotic if the padres sweep the dodgers (win the next two games) they are tied for 1st in the NL west and own the tiebreaker. Which means that series for them against the dbacks is massive. Just like the Milwaukee/mets and royals/Braves series are.

Feel like the tigers are a lock cause of how bad the white Sox are. They’d really have to collapse to not make it. Twins and royals aren’t playing well. Royals managed to squeak one out last night at nationals and twins lost to the marlins. Frankly if the royals win the next two at nationals and the twins lose either of the next two vs. marlins feels like it’s probably over. Essentially would be 3 games with 3 to go. Twins would have to them sweep and hope for a Braves sweep. Mariners are 3 back in the loss column. Really need the marlins and nats to upset both twins and royals to make it. Royals and mariners split their season series 3-3. So curious to see how the tiebreaker would work

Wow this is going to be nuts

Way to go MLB. Could’ve played this game on mondya knowing the hurricane was coming and knocked at least one game out of the way.
