Hate to say it…. Hurts got paid. He’s done

No one's talking about:

Swift fumbled.  Elliot missed a FG.  Smith had a wide open drop.  One INT was essentially Goedert having the ball punched out of his hands and they called it an INT.

This thread will be fun to bring up later on

The haters have been waiting all year for a loss to start blaming Hurts...and Hurts only not anyone else.

This topic is bs.  Eagles win that game handily if LJ doesn't go down.  Plain and simple.

Mailata post-game interview: acknowledged the line had Jalen pressured too much, and Jalen running to avoid pressure and make plays saves them, and they have to protect him better.

Hurts is the QB and people need to stop overreacting. Who would have thought I'd be posting that a year ago? Then again I'm a jinx so...

Have taken a several year hiatus from the EMB. Clearly players come and go but TATE remains the same as it ever was. 🤣

We didn't. We lost to The Jets Defense our own ineptitude and piss poor play calling.

Did he really have a bad game though? 1 int was on him. Smith dropped 2 balls, gainwell dropped a ball, Goedert caused the int, oline had him running for his life and allowed a defender to hit his arm causing an int, swift fumbled and also didn't stay in bounds when we started the 4min drive. There were other things, but those I mentioned were huge. If we had a statue QB back there, we easily would have given up close to 10 sacks. While I understand some of those sound like excuses, but if you're giving him blame, give him praise for what he did well.

All this Hurts hate is easy to pinpoint. And his initials is how he got the job... BJ needs to be better. 14 rush attempts against the bottom of the league rush D? But at the same time, players didn't make plays (see above).

That's what I want to know. What the @#&* happened to the pass blocking. I know Lane was out but holy ish. Jalen was getting pinched in a closing pocket all day long.

Also. The lack of any compitant run game yesterday killed this football team. Over 50 pass attempts.

Drops, piss poor play calling, poor o line play. It was really hard to watch.

As for the Defense I guess they only gave up 12 points in reality. They let the last dude score to get the ball back with time left. The pass defense was horrible much of the day too.

Lol this guy. Hurts had a bad ending to the game but he is the reason the game was not worse. He was extending plays like only he can. Just needs to keep working and continue to learn and get better.

Btw, Mahomes vs the Jets, barely beating them 23-20 (The Jets aren't a bad team)

18/30, 60% completion, 203 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, 1 Sack

Hurts vs the Jets:

28/45, 62.2% completion, 280 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT (one was tipped off receiver not his fault), 2 Sack

Play calling can be a huge part of an offense's performance.  It also can affect a QB's efficiency.

Johnson's playcalling and use of the skill players has been lousy and the creativity is lacking.

But the thing I've been saying since Hurts got here is his slow development in his speed of his progressions.  Having 2 very good WRS can cover that shortcoming most of the time, but there are times when you really need to get to the 3rd and 4th read.

Hurts hasn't regressed, he just hasn't developed that facet of his game fast enough......and he needs to.

Brian Johnson has had 6 games to get this offense going.....and it's been wildly inconsistent.  And yesterday was idiotic with Hurt passing 45 times and the RBs getting 14 runs.  WTF?

To completely abandon the run game was inexcusable.  The eagles can't continue with his poor play calling......

I think it's being over played how bad Hurts was against the Jets. I thought he was really good in the first half. Carried the team and made plays. That throw while stiff arming the defender was ludicrous. If Smith didn't have a couple of uncharacteristic drops (including that wide open one in the third) then maybe the game is over by the 4th.

That being said he was really poor in the fourth and he has regressed this year. He 100% needs to work on his reads and getting the ball out quicker. He has the receivers. I would say however:

1) Johnson is struggling. It's clear. Hopefully he improves but we definitely miss Shane S.

2) The pass blocking, particularly with Johnson out is not as good as everyone thinks.

3) I do think they are suffering a little bit from the Super Bowl hangover. Most teams do early in the season. We got away with it until yesterday.

I still believe in Hurts, but he does need to improve and work on his reads.

No doubt he has regressed, he's back to that run right sheet whenever he feels pressure.

He's moving out of the pocket and creating pressure for himself.  I'm not sure if it's the playcalling that has him feeling uncomfortable or if he's simply regressed, but he's definitely not the same QB we saw last season.  It could be the pressure of the new contract and he feels the need to be perfect....but he's been pretty awful so far this season for sure.

Mahomes with this line, Swift, Brown, Smith and Goedert is probably dropping 40+ a game.

Or Brown does slow down on a wide open deep TD, Smith doesn't drop 3 open play, Swift does fumble, Goedert doesn't have the ball stripped leading to a pick

Hurts was not perfect but far from the reason we lost.

Jalen can and needs to play better. It's possible that this whole season will continue like it's been going. Sometimes when you know you're not performing your best, you start forcing things and taking chances. It's probably really difficult to forget your mistakes and move on and even harder to tune out the critics when you know you deserve criticism. Hurts is still a young QB that is going to experience ups and downs as a pro.

This last offseason, I kept looking for information about what extra work Jalen was putting into his game. Unlike the previous seasons, there were no reports of him getting together and working with receivers or working on specific areas with QB gurus. Perhaps he had more distractions this offseason and thought he could handle it all. I don't really know and can only speculate. Last year, Hurts was amazing virtually the entire season. He was among the lowest all year on turnover worthy plays and highest on on target throws. His PFF grades were significantly higher every week.

It's also possible that he rights the ship and gets back on track this season. I kind of expected that to already happen

It was only a matter of time with the way they were playing. They ran into a scrappy team and gave them too many gifts. There are always a few games each year where this is going to happen. I'm not making excuses for them. They need to be better but I'm not throwing them under the bus either. This is the NFL, no week is a given.

Hurts has shown flashes but he definitely had a bad game.

tldr; We got 11 weeks to get it right; NFL gonna NFL.
