TBH I’ll take him. I’m thinking maybe try to get one in the off-season? But that might be asking too much. Is Dean returning this year?

Dean is done officially - I see Leonard like Roby, nothing to get excited about but it gets a back-up off the field.

I was pretty disappointed in Slay.  We all know he's not a physical CB but, wow -- he's got to be able to do a better job against Brandon Aiyuk 1-on-1.  He's pretty much the Niners' 4th weapon in the offense.

I think Aiyuk is a top 15 receiver in the league.

That's what I was saying about why this crew seems to be so favorable towards the 49ers.  A crew that doesn't call ticky tack, or even some blatant things plays into their style.  They are physical... they beat people up, they hold, they get chippy, they play right up to the line (and quite often cross it).  And a crew that let's the players play and doesn't get involved heavily favors a team that's always physical.  They called the game evenly... but the 49ers got away with more, because they did it more.

Couldn't of said it better, thumbs up.

Of course, but just a topic of conversation after a curb stomping.

Copy that.

I'm just all riled up and at how do we fix this before the game w the 'boyzz.

Game could have been much different if we were able to cash in earlier in the game and go up 14-0.  There was some pretty blatant PI's not called against them there.  Then there was also 3 pretty blatant holds missed (one against Ghost, one vs Carter, and Kittle with the last one) on 3 scores from the Niners.

I had to go out with the wife shortly after the Dom scuffle and Eagles subsequent TD — so I left at the right time, I guess.

Were there any Eagles injuries today?

You missed Hurts going to the locker room for a concussion and then going back into the game at the end of the 4th for some reason. Oh and then Swift got blown the hell up on the last drive because he was also in the game for some reason

Unlike Slay, Byard has some damn pride in the defense. But hey, maybe Slay can play for the 49ers next year so who gives a crap

It's the same thing every week. They just haven't had to answer for it because they've been squeaking out games. If this happens every week, then that falls on the coaching.

Yeah, hopefully a division game makes our defense smarter and better tacklers

Yesterday proved a few things -- one of them being that Zach Cunningham is a difference maker for us on defense. Not saying we would have won with him on the field, but our defense would have looked a little less soft.

Next season, I hope they make it a point to have 2-3 Cunningham's on our roster. I don't care if they're veterans, rookies, or a combination of the two. But I want strong, active, physical linebackers who are all over the field and will lay the wood when needed.

Think guys like Nigel Bradham, Byron Evans, TJ Edwards, Jeremiah Trotter, etc

Gee, imagine using motion to make the defense think and get the match up the offense wants?  Wild stuff.

Hopefully Swift didn’t get concussed. He had a bad one in Detroit that forced him to miss something like 3 weeks.

We could certainly target Jeremiah Trotter Jr., he might get beat in coverage like Morrow but he's one of best tacklers I've seen.

Looks like Steichen and the DB coach could be the biggest losses, imo.

This team is just as (or more) talented on paper as last years team - plus an added year of improvement/experience from Hurts, Smith, Brown, etc - there is little reason that this team shouldn’t be  as consistent as last year’s team.  They should be more consistent, not less.

So yes, people need to start looking at both offensive and defensive play designs, scheming and play calling. Obviously, something is not up to par.

Yup loss of the DB coach has obviously hurt as well ☹️

This is the moment they have been saving Penny for...

For two seasons, we haven’t been a team that schemes the hell out of you on offense. We rely on our stars beating your guys because they’re just better. Overall, it’s worked well, but we haven’t had a lot of answers when the stars aren’t playing like stars.

Whoever drew that blue line might not fully understand the rule. It should be overlapping with the ball not in front of it, because the ball itself is the neutral zone. His right hand was still probably offside but it's not as egregious as this tweet implies.

Well, that royally sucked. No other way around it, we just got hammered. It's concerning we got killed like that and we didn't turn the ball over, and the offense moved the ball OK. Here are some takeaways:

1. 3 games in 13 days, and the defense played over 90 snaps against the Bills. The 49ers were coming off the mini-bye. It completely showed. The defense came out on fire, and then the whole game turned when they converted 2nd and 16 (I think it was 16) on the 3rd drive with a nice 2nd down play and then picked up the 3rd. The defense was clearly gassed, but 14 points in the 1st half wasn't a catastrophe. Then the 2nd half happened...

2. This is likely related to #1, but I haven't seen us be that awful at tackling in a long time. Who knew Zach Cunningham was the lynchpin for this whole defense? The 49ers scores in the 2nd half (Deebo catch with the missed hold on Reed, Deebo run, Deebo screen) were all plays where we took bad angles, missed tackles, etc. The defense wasn't beaten over the top, they were run through.

3. Morrow came back to earth hard and Ellis just isn't an NFL LB. We really need Leonard...

4. I don't even think Slay and Bradberry got burned in coverage really. Desai played his soft crap, and we just couldn't tackle anyone.

5. The pass rush and run defense evaporated in the 2nd half.

6. Some good news -- Lane is clearly healthy and the O-line played a solid game in pass protection.

7. Hurts just can't take those sacks. We need him to take check downs or throw it away.

8. More good news -- Mann as awesome (yeah, I'm reaching).

It was one game. Need to flush it and move on.

OK - so maybe Sweat was a smidge over.  Not that anybody cares because every OT does it but how far back are they going to let these guys setup.

On the positive side, Lane put the clamps on Bosa again and Mailata shut down Chase Young. It felt like the both of them were pretty much non-factors in the pass rush. Hurts was well protected.

And still ran around like a headless chicken...

The mysterious 3rd and Long problem...

They don't have the 29th worst defense or 29th ranked talent. Even with the injuries. Every week I see lesser teams providing more resistance and this staff can't come up with anything. It's concerning.

What's perhaps more concerning to me is even if this team were to go out in their first playoff game in blowout fashion, there is zero chance the Eagles make any coaching changes. It's going to be an offseason of "Our coaches are amazing, they do a great job." Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

We lost 42-19.

You can blame both the offense and the defense.

I blame you, @Diehardfan  and @ManuManu for not being negative enough on game day.  I didn't see a lot of @eagle45 posts on Sunday. There should be no excuses for his low effort performance.  @TEW is far too rational maybe he put money on the game.  Could he be using his big bucks investment job to pay off players in sort of gambling scheme? I am just asking questions.   @austinfan didn't even show up once to defend Howie's inability to address the LB position.  Also what is @mattwill doing even keeping track of the predictions.  Maybe just don't take predictions who are clearly bad luck and shouldn't be playing.  Maybe @paco , @hputenis and @greend should have stayed on  WU.  I also blame @LeanMeanGM for his snark and @Iggles_Phan for spelling Eagles wrong in his username.  On the whole, Sunday was a blog failure. If you have not been mentioned, please think about what you have done and maybe try a new pair of lucky underwear.
