He doesn’t have a huge holdup paying top dollar. In some ways those contracts are easier to just accept. I just don’t think I would have made that decision concerning Cam. Two sides to why. First….because I believe we could find a replacement C. Day two pick one of our highest percentage ‘hit rate positions.’ Then the part about how worth that top dollar pay is he? I don’t put him all the way up there. Up to me? I’d wish to keep him….but above average pay only. Him and Jordan Davis are going to get us and make things much more difficult affording 53 players.

With regard to Cam, Howie was just being Howie … extending a player one to two years before everyone else would extend that player. At the time of the announcement of the extension, the dollars appear to be somewhat high. However, when the one to two years elapses, the numbers that seemed so high are no longer as high due to new contacts that have been signed by other teams with players at that position. Further, the AAV of the extension only kicks in after the current contract expires. And in addition, the player gets their bonus cash up front. It is a win-win-win all around.

Ty Robinson played some FB at Nebraska, and the Australian rugby player has FB potential as well.

Could be a direction Siri potentially makes a turn towards here.

Siri happens.

Robinson makes sense from a roster headcount perspective

Just to but in perspective how little Jurgens cap hits will be Kelce had 8m cap hit in 22 and 10m in 23…. Jurgens will be below those in cap numbers until 2028

Guy hasn’t even played very significant percentages of snaps.

I mean the difference between Davis and Milton was like 100 snaps on defense in the regular season at least

What makes you doubt that it will?

Not going against him or anything. Do feel he’s got that kind of Jack-of-All trades being his strength. Pretty good at all these different things in college….could amount to none of it enough to translate to the pros. Not really high on him enough to look at him as a clear starter. Career versatile backup depth piece for Fangio for four years…was how I judged the pick. Not sexy…more just practical.

If you add in ST snaps the difference between Milton and Davis snap counts shrinks even more.

Milton 563 snaps

Davis 533 snaps

Yes, but he does it one or two years early so that when the other players get their contacts one or two years later, the top dollar he gave out is no longer the top dollar. Plus the player gets his cash earlier, which has value.

See this I’m fine with….for players earned and worthy of it. Those should be fairly easy. Cam and Jordan Davis should be more negotiations needed really. Shouldn’t be top paid contract players at this point. Kind of bending over and taking it from those two on their extensions.

Snap count is not a proxy for impact. Davis is the lynchpin in taking carries by the opposing running backs out of their OC’s game plan. That makes their Offense one dimensional and easier to defend.

Gotta be on the field to earn these few premium contracts we can afford to pay out. Paying Davis Saquan money here.

Doesn’t feel like we’ve discussed the G-men getting Abdul Carter. Seriously not good for us. Right at the end of Lane’s career. I believe he even will be a matchup problem for him. He was the best player in this draft. Don’t even think it’s been disputed…universally considered a freak game wrecking pass rusher.

Lane's career isn't ending for 2-3 more years. Lane will "welcome him to the NFL"

Yeah…I thought of him as a WR always.

Why? He was a TE. Like considering Hurts a RB who can throw "always"

Didn’t Jurgens make the pro bowl last year??? So we paid our pro bowl C and his cap hits are peanuts over the next 3 years while the cap will continue to grow

He really didn’t impact much at all after the first half of his rookie season. All the way up until now still hasn’t EARNED it. Still talking about his potential being more fulfilled. The one dimensional factor surrounds his skills though so far. Obvious rushing downs. I’ve been discussing Jordan Davis extension a fair amount lately if you caught any of that. I was straight actually even giving in to Jordan Davis of paying two extra mil a season….just for the Jalen Carter positive effects he supplies.

He was a lead blocker not a FB, at least what I saw on film, but TBH didn't watch him play every game, so maybe he did

What's a top 30 boot? And how did he suck you in?

No idea how most likely Autocorrect got me, sorry about that. We didn’t select any top 30 player visits this draft. Remembered you pointed towards the opposite has been our more recent history:

The " Vanilla Gorilla " is his nickname... Ham is in love now...nicknames are his thing

I like Gorilla Glue. Excellent product comes in varying forms. Was thinking that would be what he does for us if he reaches his potential ceiling.

Is this an accurate statement or just your own bias??? What’s the difference between runs when Davis is on the field v not??? He is obviously going to have a much larger impact against the run then a pass rusher

Not the strength of the QB...or the RB. I think smart ball keeps playing to their strengths...plus it helps the D as we grind out drives.

Our QB was Heisman runner up operating spread. Totally disagree. Believe this is exactly a formula to apply even more stress to our opponents D. Saquan….or downfield. The more you spread things out….the less any disguise can even be attempted. Numbers game….just pushing those numbers to be even more well defined by clearing out the box even more.

Howie is great. He signs those "too high" contracts for extended years and they get surpassed while our guys are still under contract due to the cap salary increases. Of course the fans pay for that along with increased ad prices. $13.00 for a beer is a bit much, but as long as we suck them down, they won't stop

Who is the blocker without Goedert?

Calc is just a lesser blocking version…but things would remain the blocking TE we put on the field for that.

Yeah very strange, you are right, we usually take guys we had visits with. it's a very high percentage too. We had a load of TE's in and didn't take ANY

You don't read when it's not your posts... lol

We both agreed we didn’t believe that fifth year option would be exercised. I read everything that comes on here is clearly how I’ve proven myself as here. Respond to much anybody volunteers with my own two cents very often even. But please expand on…if now…your viewpoint has changed …where your thoughts reside on this whole player contract. You know I’ll read it.

All the linemen we had in also and didn't take ANY. Howie said they only had 10 players with round 1 grades (Campbell being one of them)

Absolutely on check downs the ability to run with the ball...it's huge for Goedert in this offense. Why I mentioned that Calcaterra was decent in that department where Ertz struggles to break any tackles.

Hurts is one of the least checkdown QBs ever
