Its industry is entertainment, but not its product. It actually hasn’t morphed at all since the Heidi Incident (it was a regular season game rather than a bowl game). If you had said it has morphed since the first Eagles Championship Games in ‘48 and ‘49 I’d have agreed with you, but by ‘68 when the Heidi game took place the morphing had completed. The caterpillar had transformed into a butterfly. So, my question still stands .,, what is the NFL’s product? It produces entertainment that is it's product. It is in the entertainment industry producing entertainment for a price. I am a fan. I'm not here to pick apart sentences and words to make arguments over. For me it's product is entertainment in the entertainment industry, but whatever it is to you I'm not going to argue about. Have a great day,

And as a fan, I wouldn't look for drama that isn't there. The thing I liked from day 1 of last year...nothing mattered except winning. You worry about Barkley getting a TD...Ham wanted Barkley to get the rushing record . All meaningless... as proven by the team last year. Focus was winning and nothing else.As it should beWho said I was worried about it? I never did. It's just nice if the coach can let the player who had a great drive finish it. It's not a necessity nor do I care other than we score at the end, but it's just a coach allowing a player to finish what he started. Has nothing to do with me "worrying about it" At times you see guys run down the field to be tackled at the 1 and they pound the ball on the turf. WHY? Because they wanted to FINISH. It's quite common with RB's ,so the "obvious move" would be to give that player another shot at it. I see nothing wrong with this if you have 3 downs to do it. Of course the TD is the ultimate goal and you have many options to accomplish that, but it's a little nuance from the coach to the player to allow them to finish what they started. I'm not obsessed with this, nor do I get angry if another player scores the TD, but it's always nice to allow the player that got you there on that drive a chance to complete it. Nothing more

Products are what you get paid for, and for the NFL there is some, but very little revenue actually paid to the NFL for entertainment … essentially the ticket sales for actually attending the game. The lion’s share of the NFL’s revenue does not come from entertainment.Where does it come from?

Nothing moreIt's even better with our QB sneak. The team enjoys demoralizing the opponent. There is less of a chance for turnover...and even better.... you get to the 1... worst thing is that tackle for a loss and now you are at the 4 or 5. If our sneak didn't work... worst case was a push...and restart from same spotIt's really only annoying when Ham thinks it's a Hurts stat....similar to 70 points in 7 quarters without him, our other QBs were successful with the sneak. I love the sneak.. love the whole idea of simple. Love the idea of failure meaning to try it again from same spot. I'm not a fan on being less than a yard and then losing 3 yards because one person messed up. Now you gotta change the whole approach on next play. Just get me the points...which leads to just get me the wins...which leads to just get me the Superbowl. Everything else that's a nice gesture....we can save that for the family parties.. lol

All ticket sales(see movies/concerts) jersey sales, food sales. the stadium, the team, are all the results of numerous people being entertained enough to part with their money. If they were not entertained there would be no NFL,or any other sports entity. This should be apparent to anyone when the blowback occurred during the Heidi Bowl. Calls came pouring in when they took that entertainment away and replaced it with another form(TV movie). SO, the product is entertainment. The revenue you speak of was not there early, that was corporate greed once they figured out being entertained by football had a market to exploit

I don't think trade made sense being that we can get a comp pick.. and I think both parties didn't want to separate yet.

We need him to stay on the field until we can find a replacement. I didn't see any in the draft. I thought we might take a mid rounder, but lord that TE room is already full. IDK if anyone will emerge from that group. Now my trade for Mayer is off the table for this year, but this puts the rumor mill onto something else

That’s not a season that you build on. I’d be ecstatic if they could just match their rookie seasons. Sure, they each got beat a few times. A few times. They just don’t exactly have room for improvement.14 hours ago, TEW said:They were both borderline pro bowlers this year and didn’t make it due to lack of turnovers. That’s where their improvement can come from: if we can get 7 or 8 turnovers from them, that would put them squarely in the "star” category of players and offset CJGJ’s main contribution. Also, I’m cautiously very excited about what Ringo can add. He should be an upgrade as run defender right out of the gate over Slay. Can he be the playmaker he was in college? He’s a third year player, but given his age, is probably more like a 2nd year player in terms of his development timeline.Aside from them, we have 2 safety prospects who can add something — one a third year guy and one a rookie. Can we get one good starter out of them?LB has the potential to be even better this year. Of Baun keeps up his level of play, Dean comes back into form by mid season, along with the two rookies and Trotter… that’s the best group of talent we’ve had since at least the 90’s. Can they make it all come together? On the DL, Hunt is the guy we could see take a big step up. He has the talent to be a 10 sack kind of guy. Jordan Davis is older at this point, but if he can add some pass rush to his impact it would go a long way towards earning him an extension. Would only take 4 or 5 sacks from the interior in addition to his run defense.

The revenue you speak of was not there early, that was corporate greed once they figured out being entertained by football had a market to exploitWith the exception of the ticket sales and jersey sales, what you have listed are all ancillary biproducts downstream from the entertainment on the field. The NFL dosn't get the revenue from food sales, and in many cases the stadiums are municipally owned. Bottom line the amount of money each year that is transferred from a person being entertained is just a small fraction of the NFL's annual revenues. The biggest fraction comes from elsewhere and those revenues arent transferred to the NFL for entertainment. The example that you have provided regarding the Heidi Game is very illustrative. Do you know how much money the NFL lost when the entertainment it was providing got interrupted? The answer is $0. Which is clear evidence that entertainment isn't what the NFL is selling.
