Level of consistent production can’t be ignored. All odds would favor he’s bringing high level sack production with pass disrupting presence next two seasons. Not sure I’m super consistent on him with my age thinking surrounding most…but feels real easy to see him as safe a bet as there ever comes.

And all of the changes have added more cap hits down the road.

In Accounting we have the double entry system. So for every dollar moved into a future Cap year, a dollar is removed from the current Cap year. No Cap dollars are created and no Cap dollars magically disappear. They just move from one time period to another time period.

I get your point. There is some potential (but currently not real) uncertainty about the 2031, 2030, and 2029 Mahomes numbers. However, the September 2023 contract addendum gives us a precedent for how both the Chiefs and Mahomes will handle making the dollars for those years guaranteed (or not).

The Hurts contract for those years simply does not exist. So the Hurts situation is TOTAL uncertainty. And their is no prior transaction to provide us with precedent.

New contract would be a five year backloaded cap hit easily educated assumption signing that’s in reality a three year deal. If we can afford the trade…which factors in draft loss compensation….not seeing a real downside about making the move. Main potential pitfalls pretty much surrounding future seasons cap financials. Essentially the hit we take fours seasons from now over achieving two Chamipionship seasons…totally the first ever Three-peat…trademark that!!!

I don’t know about the Green move at RG. But even with it not being my guy looking at so favorably…Stout involved comes with certain level of credit to not question and criticize easily. I’ve been seemingly higher on Steen than most. So if you combined both fairly wide spread negative opinions surrounding each player you could be open towards a move for a RG. I even would point towards further depth on our roster at G as options though. Kid like Keegan taking a big leap at this early career stage.

Good post. Focused, efficient, and effective.

Future cap hit and loss of youth building block draft pick compensation. 2028/2029 negatives in exchange for All In two year Lombardi pursuit. Would you sign up for those choices right now?

Well he is requesting a long term deal whoever takes him, so IDK what deal can be worked out

No deal.

Mutually agree that the best option for him is to come to the Eagles, be paid $15.8 million, star on the #1 Defense in the NFL in your contract year, and then get a huge payday in 2026 Free Agency. Oh yes, and possibly win a Super Bowl ring.

The alternative is to stay with Cincinnati, sit out the 2025 season, be paid $0, and enter 2026 Free Agency without the benefit of a stellar 2025 performance on the field.

$15.8 million is a terrible thing to waste.

We have the team in place to contend. Really just comes down to injury, luck…getting the job done leading to the actual parades happening. Could detail longer list of reasoning targeting a two year contending window for our Eagles. But just need two being sufficient. Saquan Barkley and Lane Johnson. Elite difference makers I can’t consider into a third season or beyond. Two year contending championship window.

I totally ackowledge that. What’s the right answer? At S I’m leaning against it because of the youth logic. Adding what could easily be our best S…I could see as appropriate reasons to bring in vet and bump back youth development as side effect. Simmons is capable of best in the league levels of S play here. Can’t just ignore developing young guys instead of just choosing to bring in the best.

There is no "right answer.”

How far are you willing to ..so called decide towards mortgaging the future… in favor of Championship pursuit today?

Watt a possibility also I think still. My view being next two seasons making moves surrounding being ‘All In.’ Do these players absolutely fit that bill? Undeniably. So signed to three year contract mostly banking on the first two works for me.

Hmmm. Hadn’t thought of Watt. I’ll give that a look see. Thanks.

No new contract. Only a one-year rental.

Are you referring to Watt?

Two year window makes sense on Offense, but a much wider window on Defense. Howie needs to have a succession plan for Offense. If he can pull one off, then the window is wider than two years.

Almost none. No mortgage.

I’m going to break my rule and reply to you because it will be interesting to (1) hear what you think still needs building, (2) can avoid giving a lecture, and (3) can provide your thoughts in a single comment rather than a monologue series of comments replying to yourself rather than conversing with others.

As Andy would say, "Time’s yours.”

Ham, on the three points above, how did you do?

Totally agreed. It’s why you even took my own statements against other options. We didn’t turn things over to Nolan and some very capable players soon enough. But gotta be a balance. Then factoring in just sheer are Trot or Smael flat out ever going to prove good enough? Talking first round pick not getting in the field until the end his rookie season…coming from top Georgia college easiest transition to the NFL. What clearly says Trot or Smael, third day picks, are going to ever be the guys deserving of development and snaps? Maybe it just doesn’t ever materialize for either. Then it’s nothing gained by prioritize pushing to advance their learning curves. Baun and Jihad are even the most likely priortized future at Inside LB for us. So one year proven starting vet in place rubbing off on these inexperienced guys could pay great dividends.

Or just flat out just super simple of adding our starting Inside LB for the season. Easy case to make just on that reasoning to make that move. Try and work Jihad in at any pace and involvement he just actually has to earn. Not a bad way to run a team. Earn it…instead of being gifted anything. Vet proven starting NFL LB. Earn snaps over that guy. Win/win. Jihad is such a wildcard swing for the fences draft choice. His durability just might be red flag worthy just like many teams evaluated and conclude with him. Could be elite playmaking versatile stud! Any way you look at him….most signs aren’t pointing towards he’s going to clearly be ready to go to begin the season. Can he even practice before week one? Seems majority opinions don’t even believe he will. So week one health availability very much in flat out question. Beyond his NFL starter readiness after not practicing or PS involvement.

Just Jihad. What levels are you ready to place of expectation and our D reliance on him starting? Whole season suits up? Whole season suits up with developmental lumps? Can’t even begin practicing fully until after the bye? Plays great making a splash for five consecutive middle of the regular season games between injury situations?

So many more potential scenarios. But I’m kind of reading him as be best for Fangio to get him practicing just real specific and detailed focused on limited duties and role. Don’t throw kitchen sink at the kid. Get each piece into him at best detailed precision. No bad habits and mostly winging things. Prioritized longer term top quality development schedule. So week four I’m leaning my predicted assumptions towards he’s getting in just starting to actually practice. Because I just wouldn’t rush this kid. Meaning week 7ish real meaningful contributions on field. Growing and growing from there as everything plays out to work.

All the way to flat even considering when drafting him he might just not be large rookie contributor.

I'm sure Howie has spoken to his agent

What Eagles games last season featured a five man D-Line?

Was this question ever answered?

Look…just because somebody asks for a simple yes or no…instead of a much more in depth specific thoughtful answer….doesn’t really change much for me. In my mind the answer is the answer. My answer not faulty because oversimplified. Just faulting my opinion based on just how detailed and thoughtful my breakdown is.

I supplied my opinions to answer questions but that shouldn’t negate others from responding with their thoughts answering. Maybe similar…or totally opposite….you getting my thoughts…supply yours too.

My life isn’t ruled by you or really any other. So read and considered your wishes. Going to do me though. Believe I bring value while I share. If the real in depth answer I’ve very knowledgeably supplied isn’t to your likely? Ignore it. I view a reasoned well thought out reply as a strength and welcomed quality of value. Was also including the contribution falling on a certain level of advanced team knowledgable fans.(taking for granted a knowledge surrounding Eagles roster and first round pick abilities versus health)
