Just one injury we suffer all TC and PS could so easily create obvious need concurring with availability. Or just player becoming available over simple contract cap hit money team situation….could present near no brainer addition. Every team probably has a couple of vets fitting this financial business decision choice being made. Contract has a player at too large a cap hit to justify absorbing …also not wishing to chose the extension financial option as means to rectify. Heck Goedert for us this season. Easy situation just revolving around cap number with a quality player. Worked out nice….he just agreed to lower his cap hit and accept bonus incentives as compromise. Otherwise….starting TE could have been acquired by any other team. Not sure how my thoughts seemed to become your own here.

Think there easily could he quality options to take advantage of after cuts are made or leading to a trade. Then pointed out how an injury or two in TC or training camp creates a need not previously believed existed. Any player not in shape or underperforming. Like all the things in such a variety of ways seems to happen every season. But…also could be not needed and don’t make a move. That option is also a possibility.UH isn't this the case for every team? Where is the "bad opinion" located in this?

Don’t extend him and gets 3rd Round Comp pick back when he walks in FA.Seems this is your line. Wouldn’t see this really happening. Get a third round comp pick if Bengals keep him. He could be forcing things though…optics currently backing you on that. Look at my five year actual three year backloaded very realistic contract extension thoughts.

Oh yes, and possibly win a Super Bowl ring. The alternative is to stay with Cincinnati, sit out the 2025 season, be paid $0, and enter 2026 Free Agency without the benefit of a stellar 2025 performance on the field.$15.8 million is a terrible thing to waste. This is his last big payday. He’s getting this last chunk in the bank. Hard to fault the guy. I know the crazy huge millions being so much to us…but for him it’s really underpaid. Bad business for him to just easily accept playing things out to become a FA next season. Then you have Tag potential he could easily face also.

Want to give us absolute best chances to get it done…while the iron is hot and everything looking like it’s achievable a reasonable goal to strive for…right now.

If he can pull one off, then the window is wider than two years.Doesn’t work like that. It’s contending team championship contending window. Two years…our team becoming champs. All or nothing! O/D….every factor.

But how much are you prioritizing succession plans and future over short term next two season needs? Are you fine with really good but not quite champs? How much should you balance 2028 versus taking advantage of SB winning opportunity season in 2025?
May 31, 20251 yr 1 hour ago, mattwill said:Almost none. No mortgage.I’m willing to fairly extremely see it opposite. Want to give best shot next two years as can take. Want to get it done. A field goal short…over future draft pick contribution I’m accepting the payoff tradeoff. Take lumps on 2028 cap for best shot to win Lombardis next two seasons.
May 31, 20251 yr We are sitting on as quality an opportunity to become champions in 2025 as our entire history maybe has laid out for us ever. Get it done. Long term franchise thinking not ignored…but at its least prioritization.

Davis started, but rarely (if ever) was there a 5-man front. Davis and Williams were interchangeable. While the possibility/likelihood of a run was high Davis was on and Williams was off. When the possibility/likelihood of a run was low Williams was on and Davis came off.
May 31, 20251 yr 1 hour ago, GreenbleedinNC said:Was this question ever answered?See this is difficult to supply. Successful five man front footage doesn’t make highlight reels. So you’d need to find a person did a thorough breakdown by D personnel snap count or entire game replay to observe it in action.
