Did DeJean?

Not much…then didn’t get in until after the perfectly timed bye week. So even optimistically apply that great scenario.

Almost none. No mortgage.

Traditional NFL history differs. High percentage of teams choose to give up first round picks and even bring in one year contracted old players to get it done. Seen plenty of real going All In approaches taken. Exactly why the term came from ..All In.

It’s not faulty. It is just talking to yourself.

As one poster said, "I’ll use this as a sleeping pill when I go to bed.”

I gave you my thoughts in my FYP reply.

With that said, what I think is irrelevant. I have no power to make anything happen. It is all in the hands of others.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

I mean you could take that approach to crap down any need for this entire boards existence. We have nearly zero control. Not stopping me from forming opinions.

Have you gotten any feedback about whether that belief is shared by others.

Have received very much feedback over a very extended time on this board. For and against. Some quality and some ..uhm less than. But why should I place all my concerns surrounding others opinions instead of my own?

Believe there is a major flaw in your logic on this point. But also can consider if this just really is no longer even a shell of the same place it used to be for everything.

What question did you ask to get that answer?

I asked it "What is Vic Fangio’s "base” defense?” And got the following

Vic Fangio's "base" defense is often a 3-4 scheme, meaning it primarily uses three defensive linemen and four linebackers in its base, standard alignment. However, this is not a static setup, and Fangio's schemes are known for their flexibility, incorporating various personnel groupings and coverage

See call it whatever label you wish about me…but this is where a knowledgable Eagles fan such as myself is superior to today’s level of AI. Fangio runs a hybrid scheme at this point. Every single NFL coach base D is Nickle. Look up the stats yourself. Nickle not even to be debated as most widely used across the entire NFL.

I never said anything like 5 man front was most widely used personnel package. So flawed question you asked the internet…sadly flawed answer you arrived at also. All the way around that went bad for you. Hahaha

Was a Legendary level contributor and top levels of replies returned. If I was to base my life according to what everybody else thinks about me.

How often do you APPROXIMATE the Penny scheme was used by Fangio in all 21 games this past season? More or less than 25?

Hard to concrete nail down with certainty. Can’t say I am knowledgable enough to answer. But is true he’s known to use it. Just one form he utilizes a five man front with though.

Who were the players in the Fangio 5-man front this past season?

You have historically…then you have smallest sample size of one season with that specific personnel. Really deep dive it would take to specially pull out his five man usage. Like rarely anything highlight worthy. So full game breakdown…game by game

Which not even sure I have access to all that.

Seems this is your line. Wouldn’t see this really happening. Get a third round comp pick if Bengals keep him. He could be forcing things though…optics currently backing you on that. Look at my five year actual three year backloaded very realistic contract extension thoughts.

I agree the chances of it happening are very slim, but one of the basic principles of scenario analysis is to run ALL the scenarios and then narrow down based on the results of the respective scenario runs. But in this reality we don’t have access to the results of the scenario runs. So all the options remain on the table until the reality is presented.

In the one-year rental scenario the "five year actual three year backloaded” contract numbers are only relevant in determining what round Comp Pick the Eagles would qualify for in the 2027 Draft.

We did use it though. Not sure how it was missed by both of you? Really think everything comes down to matchups and situations. You have such a top level D mind in Fangio. So he can utilize every tool you give as an option for every matchup and situation. SB he didn’t need it once. Other matchups and situations could be very crucial tool. Contain Daniels or shut down rushing game forcing one dimension.

Laid out how we’d do it. Exact financials of just how much would be very key missing details. Draft pick compensation to make trade specifics also not supplied.

If the Bengals know that the Eagles are trading for him to extend … like they did with AJ … then the price goes up from a 3rd Round pick to a 1st Round pick.

With a 4-man front … 4-2-5 to be able to combat the opposition’s deployment of receivers.

It was often a 3-3-5 when Nolan Smith was on the field for his snaps.

Not sure how you labeling Nolan as not rushing? Or second level of the D lining up? Possibly your suggesting something else surrounding Nolan and the D?

Take your theoretical concepts and bring them into reality. What names filled out that 5-man front. Fangio only had three DEs to start the season, Sweat, BG, and Huff. By the end of the season he only had one … Sweat. So who was in the 5-man front? BG and Sweat as the DEs and Carter, Davis and Williams as the DTs? Or Carter, Williams, and Ojomo as the DTs?

First guess..just guess would be Sweat, Milton, Davis, Carter and Nolan

Five man front

Maybe BG over Nolan but even sure

That would be five man front pass coverage use….i remember it more as Rush D. But did use is disguising drop a guy on the line for LB blitz.

This is his last big payday. He’s getting this last chunk in the bank. Hard to fault the guy. I know the crazy huge millions being so much to us…but for him it’s really underpaid. Bad business for him to just easily accept playing things out to become a FA next season. Then you have Tag potential he could easily face also.

I agree with everything you have said, but Hendrickson’s sources have most recently been saying that he is so pissed at the Bengals that he is prepared to sit out 2025 entirely.

In that scenario he gets no income in 2025 and is a UFA in 2026.

The alternative is to play for the Eagles in 2025, ball out on a #1 Defense, hopefully get a SB ring, get paid $15.8 million instead of $0 million, and is a UFA in 2026.

Which would you choose?

Simply put it happened. Not sure how you missed it. He’s even the most D mind around that uses it even. All facts I’m saying are pointing towards my version here. Think you just need to look yourself and discover what you’ve missed

Really just apply it surrounding everything. I heavy into All On next two seasons. Want to give us absolute best chances to get it done…while the iron is hot and everything looking like it’s achievable a reasonable goal to strive for…right now.

Fair enough.

45 minutes ago, cunninghamtheman said:

Doesn’t work like that. It’s contending team championship contending window. Two years…our team becoming champs. All or nothing! O/D….every factor.

If you only want a two-year window, then okay. But I am greedy. I want more than two.

And the Defense already is poised to give three or four.

1 hour ago, mattwill said:

Not slighting them at all. In fact heaping praise on them for getting done with four what other teams needed five to accomplish.

Ojomo was my sleeper pick..high on him. Booker actually so far deep you might not even know him. He was capable of more if needed. BG and Sweat can pull 1 1/2 gap suited just fine. Really just not one single thing being done from five man front even. Fairly infinite possibilities on outside responsibilities. As far along as dropping in coverage faking while the LB blitzes.

Be nice if we could know who you are referring to. I know it's alot to ask

Any and every possible decision surrounding our team.

Shipley I really like. Mailata, Jurgens, Smitty…obviously Hurts….O has plenty of future. But how much are you prioritizing succession plans and future over short term next two season needs? Are you fine with really good but not quite champs? How much should you balance 2028 versus taking advantage of SB winning opportunity season in 2025?

If I knew for sure the outcome, I would be able to clearly describe the tradeoffs and therefore the optimal choice, but Lady Luck plays a big part. Look at the Celtics and Cavaliers this season. Did everything right but luck wasn’t with them.
