3-4 even having that dedicated Pass rushing OLB 90 percent of the time at the line without down in stance…even plenty of that opposite OLB doing the same was 5 guys at the line in a Five Man Front. But referred to as 3-4. So get your side of things there. Makes sense now to me.

3-4 OLBs are off ball so they can hit the line with momentum rather than come up out of a 3-point or 4-point stance.

One of the wrinkles that Nolan presents is that he sometimes lines up "outside the Box” horizontally rather than vertically. A good example of that happened in the Commanders game where Terry Mclaurin and Q lined up inside Nolan. Definitely not in the Box, but vertically close to the LOS

Going All In is a known term describing certain contending teams approach towards a season. Nothing I just created. Is what it is.

How Joe and I knew well before you did we were "all in". IDK that you really believed until after the playoffs started

Hurts got married though, so we're done, and Siri will be fired as we go 2-15

Said I don’t factor in whether hand is in the dirt or not. I factor in levels of the D. First, second and third. Nickle CB kind of an exception since he can lineup in wide varieties.

I don’t disagree with that description. I understand your levels perspective, but when a CB is in press coverage, he occupies a spot in the First vertical level, but he is clearly not in the Box.

Yeah…most wins accomplished what? First seed and no postseason wins …certainly no Lombardi. I don’t look at things like you. Over and over just repeated how I hoped we just got far enough by the end. 9 wins earns a playoff spot would work if you have the test team at the end. Vikings tore our regular season win total? What did that mean? Not much…

Vikings had easy schedule....they weren't getting better as the season unfolded and they got exposed at the end.

The Eagles were clearly getting better as the season progressed, focusing on the title and nothing else.

Not until after the Washington win....then it was 50-50.... still with his prepared excuse that it was going to be Siri’s fault if they lost because they didn't do what he wanted vs Cleveland in week 5.

Siri blew Andy away....the last 3 times except for a slippery field.

Like I added in with my two cents butting into you two discussion. Mahomes contract is in its final year effectively. KC has a bit more leverage being he’s under contract…but if Mahomes forces things…they’d have to just be forced to dump players and salaries just to not lose Mahomes. Not sure trying to compare Hurts and Mahomes contracts though. We going forward are in a much higher leverage standing with Hurts. We don’t have to rework his contract right away. But I have very little doubt both KC and Philly will be reworking their QB contracts next offseason. Just can’t get caught up in believing the BS fake paper numbers actually equate to concrete guaranteed and locked in numbers. Bunch of fluff…more fitting…that isn’t happening. Guaranteed remaining money and market situation really the only factors going into the reworked new contracts they’ll each agree to. Whether even referred to as an extension or not.

How do you rework an option bonus? Why would the Eagles have to rework the deal?

Good video. With the exception of the snow bowl game play and the one before it, the Eagles are in a 4-2-5 scheme, with Smith as one of the front 4 in the light box. In the second play Baun is blitzing from his ILB, so there are 5 pass rushers. In the snow bowl play, both ILBs, Baun and Burks are blitzing, so with the front 4 thst means 6 pass rushers. In the play before the snow play it is a 4-2-5, but Sweat drops off into coverage converting the 4-2-5 into a 3-3-5.

Keep the videos coming. No 5-man fronts so far.

Nolan is on the line of scrimmage most every time. Call it whatever you wish…just not Off Ball. But simple case of different views by us both on how we look at everything these days.

That is correct. In those plays he is one of the 4 in the Box in the 4-2-5 scheme deployment.

Kind of crazy coincidence Huff final cost for us was 26 mil for the 12 games. Pretty much exactly the amount a struggling Pats team paid for Milton to help change their culture around for a team having the most money to spend.

Huff or Milton?

Like our disagreement seems more how we differ looking at things than actually it being any different. I’m not looking at a on the line LB without his hand down as Off Ball or second level of the D. I went to further lengths describing what I was referring to as how many were on the line of scrimmage or not trying to explain that detail to you.

Agreed, but as I said above, when the CB is in press coverage he is on the LOS, but he clearly isn’t part of the 4 of a 4-2-5, but rather part of the 5. So second level as a term is a bit imprecise. In the Box or not in the Box seems like a better description. Look at the play at the 6:00 point in the clip below from the NFCCG and see what you think.

Still don’t see you making any great point. Only if the Lions and Vikings regular season wins meant anything do you have a good point. I wasn’t ever saying didn’t think our team could go all the way. In fact my whole optimism I stated relied on how far we got in Mooore’s O. I figured on lumps to get completely different O going. But never said my 10 win prediction was anything about postseason ceiling.

Idk if people actually understand the Hurts contract??? He has all option bonuses... minimal salary each year.

His pay already gets spread out cap wise... 5 season proration with each bonus. There isn’t anything that the Eagles can or need to do to minimize the cap hits. Same setup with Jurgens.

Mahomes had some big salaries coming up.. in order to save cap hit in 2026 and 2027..they need to convert salary to bonus. $45 mil salary... needs to be lowered to about a million and then the rest a bonus spread out over 5 years of just under $9 mil each year...

They do that in each of 2026 and 2027

Makes additional $18 mil of cap hits for 2028,2029 and 2030 and another $9 mil for 2031.

Thats without any more conversions or new money added.

So one could say that the salary to bonus conversions will save cap now...but the cap hits from Mahomes are so much higher than Hurts to begin with, still won't bring them down anywhere near Hurts numbers.

Then if we want to start over again with Hurts with low cap hits we can... KC can't, they have that money that will be pushed down the road already counting vs their cap.

Having a player under contract doesn't do any good if the cap hits are higher than they need to be.

See over and over FL you are going to keep acting like regular season week 2 is equal to postseason success. It’s not. Over and over…Vikings 14 wins like us…never a contender. Wake up!

Quality point. He could be at the line of scrimmage. But pretty easy to understand what I was talking about if just shut out other assumptions and ideas processing my words only. CB nobody saying is part of the front. Varying LBs are the exact players that vary.

My description of a Five Man Frontcould be 4-3Under, 3-4, 5-2…just no way to really know without hearing playcall matching to playbook.

"The 4-3 Under is an alignment from a four-man defensive front that puts the 3-technique away from the strength of the offense. The Under is predominantly a one-gap system that plugs up the run and creates advantageous pass-rush situations.”

Vikings just weren’t ever contender level. Getting better or whatever…they just didn’t have that potential or ceiling. Think you made my point pretty exactly. All about being at your best at the end…as long as you qualify. Exactly why my ten wins wasn’t any judgment about season ceiling cap. 10 wins but growing and getting there at the end was my whole optimism thinking. They got there…right at the end.

You could actually just side with me on this. FL’s 14 regular season wins shouldn’t be all determining of postseason ceiling. We had two new schemes installing on O and D. Kelce retired. On and on….easily I expected and was acccepting of more difficult scheme installations. O it maybe went rougher actually than I even was thinking. D Fangio crushed the complete 180 turnaround into elite by the fifth game. Hi really expected he’d get that far that quickly?

Fangio just slayed it last season.

I mean stated my belief right from the start of the offseason. Consistent the whole way. Think things played out fairly close to what my whole thoughts laid out as the case. Biggest area I was off was on the 10 win regular season part.
