IDK how you speak with all this knowledge about players clearing waivers and all these possible trades without knowing the league? Knowing the league absolutely matters when speaking on the Eagles and how they will function within it and with all the other teams

They are the nuts and bolts of the process. Things that apply to all the teams unilaterally. And they affect directly the Eagles. Most everything in business can be reduced to numbers. Tom Brady being suspended is very hard to quantify as it relates to the Eagles. How many Super Bowls Joe Montana has won is irrelevant to the Eagles.

Joe Banner had that same idea about just business..... that's why he didn't win anything. Why he didn't comprehend you pay Dawkins the extra million and don't pay Stacey Andrews all those multiple millions.

I make judgments about the Eagles players. I rarely make judgments about non-Eagles players. I definitely don’t make judgments about players (like Montsna) whom I don’t know sufficient information to make an informed judgment.

Jeffrey Lurie is absolutely successful.... after seeking how to understand how successful franchises are run. That year that Chip took over and Howie was out and about spending time with these other franchises... absolutely helped. As did firing Banner who thought he was running a clothing store.

True, but actions that get a person suspended are hardly actions that you want to emulate. Success happens due to focus and discipline. Spending time worrying about the actions of others dilutes focus and interrupts discipline. Put together a plan and then execute that plan. Hire people who are better than you are at their tasks and then empower them to do great things. Be proactive, not reactive. Following the crowd is reactive.

What other players are doing in other organizations is out of the control of the Eagles. What is in the team”s and coaches’ control is their own game plan executed by their own players. Fangio and Stoutland don’t spend time thinking about non-Eagles players. They focus on maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of their own players.

Banner was an innovator. The game has been permanently changed by things that he was the first to do.

They were too busy proactively pursuing their vision . They didn’t have time to waste thinking about other people’s successes and failures. They were consumed with doing their own thing. Again though.... these people you are talking about here are more of inventors, pioneers.... they had something to offer other than business. That's not what a " business" CEO or CFO is per se...

Was Brady any less the face of the Patriots franchise after he was suspended rather than before he was suspended?

I suspect that Lurie himself doesn’t do data analysis. He clearly hires people who are better than he is at what they do, and then empowers them to do great things.

Joe Banner has no art or science to anything. He was a penny pincher and a guy who had no clue how to work with people. No idea of team sports culture.

" I wish I could have talked to Brian before he went to Denver, not that I would have offered him more, but just so that he understood where I was coming from" That was it for Lurie. The moment he let go of the ideas of Banner ...and realized football isn't a clothing store.
