Wow...no wonder you got all fired up...lol.  I was trying to figure out how you were so upset about the possibility of replacing Campbell or Parker...while you were pointing out their flaws at the same time...lol. made no sense.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/eagles-rookie-wr-ainias-smith-provides-injury-update/ar-BB1m2iZr No rush we will bring him along. Some of his draft drop was because of this stress fracture that prevented him from the combine and he was also probably a bit shy of going full tilt at his Pro day. He will play when the staff feels comfortable doing so

Absolutely... doesn't have to start day 1

" There are some intriguing options, and I'd expect Parker to get the first crack at it, but I also think there's a fair chance that the guy who ultimately ends up as the Eagles 3rd WR is someone who isn't on the roster yet"

Not sure how that translates to any insult to A Smith or where it implies that A Smith will not be on the roster????

It's still not a straight line route as coverage would move to disrupt him

No doubt I fully understand that point you are leaning towards about the difference in track speed and football field speed. The fact always remains this a quality that is just uncoachable. Many ways to look at the topic of just flat out long speed. Guys that possess elite levels of speed you clearly are banking on three routes starting off their route trees as a WR. The Go, the Post and the Corner. Then you should be able to add in crossing routes if they can handle the traffic and tough mentality it takes to go across the middle of the D. Which is actually asking quite a bit. Not really the most common bedfellow of traits super fast and having the tough nerves of steel. So just having a WR run deep stretches the D. Gotta start off with thinking about AJ and DeVonta outside. The Slot field stretcher creates conflict with one or even both S. Just even a moments hesitation by a S on moving towards either outside stud WR makes a huge difference for those two guys. The room it provides Goedert to work can be completely O changing. Goedert is a special TE weapon with the ball in his hands. So any defenders cleared out opens up massive YAC potential for him to take advantage of. Just think how well Goedert has produced while having Quez, Oz, Julio and Stoll on the field with him. Guys that didn’t clear out any room…just congested things. Then you finally get to the RB and even QB rushing. The areas opened up become massive with a legit speedster target from the slot.

But FL your point I’m jumping to conclude revolves around a speedster that can’t track the ball or make catches. Which was just a known fact with Quez unfortunately. Yet even still Siri wished to have Quez healthy to just run with his speed. Not even being a legit threat to capably do anything to punish a D the speedster on the field with our O still had value.

To simplify.  Being fast isn't enough to play WR.  For those of us that have actually played football (not complicated) we should understand that...same principle applies playing touch, flag or the family Thanksgiving game.  Getting open is a skill in multiple sports, not just WR in the NFL.   Not all is E = MC2

Julian Edlemen vs John Ross .... that's enough to not to have to write a book as to why long speed or a 40 time isn't all that matters.

He isn't going on practice squad.   Why would you say that?

"Roob" said he may not be on the roster LOL

Ohhhh.... I get it now.

You are saying that Roob was saying that A Smith may not be on the roster???  Lol.  That's clearly not what he said.

He said it's possible that the guy who starts as the #3 WR ..." that guy may not be on the roster" ...as in right now.

Lol ..he wasn't saying Smith wasn't going to be on the roster....lol.

Yeah, like I said I just didn't like the wording. It just struck me as something that he didn't need to say at this point. I agree it could be nit picky, but it stood out to me LOL

My hope is we have more than 1 slot capable guy that was can use depending who we play. Like A smith up to the RZ,then put in Paris or Parker who are bigger more posession types(I mean in time not right off). ASmith first has to know his ankle fracture is ok. It probably is already. he dropped in the draft because first he is a slot only. he could probably be a BU outside, but it's not really who he is(unlike JJ who can play both well). So I suspect Paris will start or as Joe said we could bring another vet in,but I know Asmith has it set in his mind that he will be the slot guy in the future. I hope he pans out as such because he has the twitch but maybe not the long speed of top WR's. But he could be a really good slot in time like Edelman or Amendola who gave Brady that extra "out". The slot just needs good hands for the clutch catches and to give the QB a quick window. I can't say I was much of a Parker fan, although he did have 1 good year in Miami. Time will tell

That was JJ. I saw a guy with that "twitch" who could provide that quick window, but he also had immense speed with 2nd and 3rd gears to take it to the house. It's rare to see a WR who can excel in all 3 spots

Well "congesting" things could be fine on some plays. I was looking at getting some production from the position, not just clogging things up for someone else. Once you establish that slot guy as weaponry that has to be accounted for, then your TE has an easier time. I don't believe, despite his speed, that anyone was afraid of Quez. I want a guy that commands attention(or you pay for ignoring him)

Ertz and Agholor complimented each other really well in 2017.   The outside guys were good, not on the level of our current guys though.    If that slot guy (5th weapon) can step up and compliment Goddert... that's even better than 2017.   Especially with Barkley.   Then the issue remains the passing of the QB.

Agreed,I want more than "congestion",I would like some nice production like over 500 yards and a few TD's from the slot as well as making 3rd down conversions a reality

Also agreed Hurts needs to find the middle of the field,it's there every game LOL

I'm not having much luck, but I know there is some kind of completion map for QB's. I would be interested to see where Hurts throws and completes the most passes if someone can find that

This was through 9 games last year. Yeah we need some production from the middle of the field. Barkley can help with that also

So just off the cuff Hurts throws alot of int's in the middle(percentage wise). That slot can give him more confidence to throw there

Alot of screens to the right for not much yardage. I'm looking for this offense to get more aggressive with more yards downfield. That deep middle is basically empty and that needs to change IMO
