Dabol flat admits he’d like to trade for Daniels in the draft.

3 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said:

If the whole stadium knew it was going to be like that before the play was called? That’s my key point. How can you excuse the playcall yet blame the QB? We all knew blitz was coming, right? I mean it seemed so very incredibly obvious to me. Maybe I’m making too much of an assumption…but shouldn’t have just been me expecting blitz. Didn’t you expect blitz?

Ok, I can see again you go right into "Hurts defense mode.....code red code red, someone is being honest about Jalen "   we need to defend..

So I'll just make this statement.   In 2024... I believe the Eagles will still use some empty backfield formations.    I believe the defense will line up 6 guys on the line covering every pass rushing gap.

However, I believe there will be adjustments made at the line of scrimmage where the QB signals / communicates the change... AFTER HE STEPS TO THE LINE TO SEE THE FORMATION.

I believe the organization knows this was a problem that needed to be addressed.

Again... the QB needs the ability to see something and adjust.   Whether it was the system or the QB... whatever the problem was, I believe that they fix it.

I believe Hurts will go to the line and be ready to audible if necessary.  Especially in that particular situation, because the drastic alternative is to simply scrap every play that is in he empty backfield package.

If you want to put the blame for 2023 on the janitor...I don't care... my mind is on 2024 and what happens next.

Do you believe that the Eagles will stop using the empty backfield formation?

Do you believe teams will NEVER show 6 rushers vs this formation ?

I would assume you are intelligent enough to say the neither of these will just stop in the future....so obviously the change will be that there will be an adjustment made at the line.  Obviously that adjustment will be made by Hurts after both teams set up.

If you think the change is that the adjustment is made via scheme,  where the coaches now gave Hurts the plan...  then fine.  I don't really care.   My point is I believe Hurts will " call the adjustment " now.

Also.... here is thought.   Perhaps due to having Kelce at C, Hurts didn't feel comfortable taking charge of some of the protection adjustments.   Whether respect or just not having the confidence to feel he saw something different.

Now I believe he will feel more comfortable taking on that responsibility if he sees something differently than Jurgens.

Personally...I prefer my QB having as much control over every aspect of thr play with the ability to change little things.

I also believe the read option dummies things down too much for the QB, and stunts the mental growth.   I believe they go away from it now... will help the offense by having the QB play without the training wheels.

Remember it's snap and all of a sudden a defender is free rushing in untouched.  We used the bubble screen or the slant... but behind the 6 man rush was the press coverage.

What do you think happens?

We will see come this year.

IDK seems to me(personally) that we are "all in" for the next 3 years. Bark signed,Smith and AJ extended. Lots of youth the last 2 years with what I would call successful drafts. Coaches changed(may change again) with Siri remaining in place-emotions or not. So for me this season and next seem crucial. It's a tough balance at WR because AJ won't last forever, but you can't draft another #1 type too soon because they want to start immediately or you have to get a FA that you will pay for. So I'm happy we got those 2 locked in for awhile. Allows time to build at other positions which Howie seems to be doing or trying to do.Both picks 1 and 2 bucked his and Eagles history,so I am glad he got over being gun shy at that position. Rosters are a constantly fluid thing. Besides money, you have to get players that fit. Just because they cost alot in FA(aka good elsewhere) doesn't mean they automatically fit your team or coaching staff,so Howie does a nice job. Hurts has been here and played with all the skill position guys with the exception of the slot guy and Bark, but Bark is Bark and one of the top RB's. I hope he has a stellar time here. Takes alot of pressure off Hurts. RG is the one to watch in camp, seems it's Steens job to lose, but we brought in plenty of competition. Iron sharpens iron. I'm really not too worried about Jurgens as he had a pro bowl teacher so it's not like we tossed a green rook into the fire. I don't believe Kelce was a pro bowler year 1 either. I expect some "new guy" errors but overall not worried about it. He will get better over time. Despite new guys at both spots, still one of the best O lines around. Bark should have a banner year, see little reason he can't. Much better O line than he is used to having. IMO Hurts needs to upgrade his brain game but I'm just a hater LOL. Don't make bad situations worse, make better decisions faster. See the on field threats and counter them or change the protection as needed. Our WR crew is top notch and someone will settle into the slot role and any are better than Quez was. Ham is worried about LB's but I'm really not. We have new ones and need to see what develops in camp and what the new schemes look like. I personally won't see them only reading reports and I'm sure if there is a major hole Howie will plug it long before week 1. Secondary has a chance to be one of the leagues best. TBH about anything was an upgrade over last year. The rooks will emerge at some point and that will provide more opportunities on offense as they stuff opposing offenses. I'm also wanting to get reports about our pass rush, but we can see that in pre season,at least a little. I'm more excited about this team than last year and despite what some say nobody could have predicted the collapse. it wasn't a "slump" it was a total meltdown and cannot be repeated. We were in the unique position of controlling our own destiny and failed miserably. I want to get back to that position. I don't think we fail this time. I want 12-5 with home field. See no reason that cannot be done. Alot of new gears to get meshed into the machine. It's a big ask,but one I think we accomplish. Not thrilled with the week 5 bye,but it is what it is and we have to cope. All we really need to do is keep guys on the field. Same wish every fan base has. We have nice depth in many places, some are a bit thin but that holds true for every team. There is only 1 reason we fail and that's not playing as a team. Stay focused for 60 minutes(we have trouble with this and Siri needs to handle it now). GB week 1 is a great test of 2 good teams. I suspect we see them sometime after week 1(wink wink). Still alot to get hashed out with new coordinators. I DO believe Siri is on the hot seat after last years debacle. Hurts needs to step up as I keep saying, but really he has the best tools a QB could want,no more excuses for him. He needs to stop talking and put it on the field. Success means there is nothing to talk about. Using Goedert correctly will go a long way. I like our chances for another SB appearance but we need to be solid out of the gate.I'm hoping to avoid 4th and 1 plays, way too many of those last year. No way we should need 4 downs to go 10 yards with the tools we have. Sorry for the rant, just all my thoughts in 1 post. If we win the trench war we cannot be stopped. Fly Eagles Fly

So what do you believe the coaches were telling Hurts they wanted him to change the play to when….they already knew this was going to be the situation when they were calling the play in the first place? Get it. The coaches didn’t have good answers for Hurts. If they did they wouldn’t be calling these plays when it was very clearly expected a blitz was coming from the D in the first place.

All the above needs to happen. But it’s going to be very doubtful that any QB comes up with better answers all the time than his coaches can provide. Can’t you understand this? Hurts already was clearly given 100 percent control at the line of scrimmage according to Siri. He already made changes and adapted at the line.

We still will run the RPO. Hurts is the best QB at running that play. You don’t just delete something he excels at so highly. Hopefully you are just talking about scaling back its usage a bit. Which should easily be the case….that we scale back the usage on our tiny playbook from last season. Still do all those plays….just less. Plus would sure hope we have plays that look exactly the same presnap yet actually are different. Super simple basic O scheming….but something that after last year needs to be mentioned very clearly.

You can counter the blitz in several ways. Not always answering with calling in full protection blocking. A very normal way to counter the blitz is for the WR to also read the blitz and cut their route off to the Hot Route option. You know something quick hitting. But the QB and receiver MUST be on the same page with this. Crucial!

Last season there were only two options it appeared. Bubble screen…or Hurts escapes the pressure.

So FL you see is as one of the best Secondaries in the league this seasons after being 31st last season? Wow what a jump! Seems like a completely reasonable expectation….not. You did hit on playing like a team. Geling and playing together is key. But that almost always comes with time…actually playing together. We should see an uptick. But from 31st to best in the league is a ridiculously unreasonable expectation.

Obviously Hurts located his buddy AJ being disgruntled when he was working out with him discussing his Titans contract situation. So that was arguably about the worst example you could have used.
But I really do love the pain and misery the Giants have been caused directly by us. Us being gifted with it transpiring on Hard Knocks has just been very unexpected yet fantastic.
Now I’m not ready to go tooting horns over how great an addition Saquan was until he actually shows that he was a great addition …for us. Just see it as a two year signing. Can we become a contending team in those two years? Or is he just the stop gap while we rebuild? I wouldn’t agree with the move if the answer is the second.

Saquan was the only real personnel move made to answer the best the blitz question for us. So he obviously will be very key.

FL it really feels like you just aren’t taking the situation seriously as much as it deserves along the Oline. You admit growing pains are expected at C with Cam. Admit the RG situation is a question mark. Seems to be zero understanding in your talks about these two positions being side by side in the middle of our Oline. Cam just not being dominant at C will have a large effect. That is what helped cover for the poor performance we’ve had at RG. Now suffering growing pains at C could become a disaster paired with struggles at RG right next to them.
The main saving grace I place hope in is coaching. Something you don’t seem to ever acknowledge as a very crucial element. I’m trusting in Stout can fix and develop adapting the situation to get it working well. Now….right from the get go week one? Stout isn’t a miracle worker. Even my faith in him as a complete stud Oline coach I can’t reach this far in absurd fairy tale land.

Again... I'm looking at 2024.   You stay on 2023.    I believe the issue was addressed this offseason and Hurts will adjust.

Ehh... I think the RPO takes less of a prime role in the offense.   More adult football in 2024.

Lol.. all I'm saying... empty backfield...when they show 6 right up on the line filling all the gaps.  The QB will make the adjustment.

It's easier for me to look at the future here...because I don't care about about turning Hurts into the older McNabb who just cared about blame.  And I am fine blaming the Hurts family friend that was our former OC.

I'm looking ahead and from everything I'm hearing and the vibe that's been given... I believe they understand the issue and are addressing it.

And Barkley for sure helps in pass protection.  Motion helps... a slot threat that can open quickly instead of Quez needing time to get open helps.

Moving off the read option helps.

Running the ball more in the first place helps.

All things I believe they addressed this offseason....and again,  i believe the reports with Hurts having his best offseason as a pro.

Btw...I don't expect " growing pains " at all at C.  C is Jurgens natural position.  Kelce and other people admit it's an easy position to play.   Jurgens has been here 3 offseasons and 2 full seasons now.  He was actually on the field against some of these players in a more one on one role.  Now he gets to double team guys and move more, which is his strength.

I don't think going from top 3 to above average is going to be that big of a deal.

I understand Kelce is a popular player... but some of you make it sound like we will play with 4 OL next year.

Idk if a transition could have been made any better at C.

RG...we shall see.

Been trying to watch a decent amount of the replay of the last week of the season matchup between the Texans and Colts. Everything on the line. Winner goes to the playoffs. Loser goes home. A minute to go right in the Redzone…Gardner Minshew chokes the pass on fourth and one on a great play all. Pretty much the total difference in both teams seasons. Just how thin the line is between a dangerous playoff team….and not even making the postseason.

But also you can’t help watching the Colts season realizing how bad a choice Rosie made. Steichen would have been a better choice to retain. Should have promoted him and fired Siri.

When has a team fired a head coach that just took the team to a SB in year 2....after that guy took over a 4 win team?

And when has a team fired that coach only to hire his OC?

These things don't happen in reality.

That's not to say assistant coaches aren't better than their head coach.... the guy in KC had a few assistants win before him....prior to finding Mahomes.

But it's not reality...the coordinators get promoted...that's how it works.

But seriously ... you gotta move on man.

Can the board unanimously concede.

Steichen better than Siri

Hurts is the best human on the planet

The GM for SF is better than Howie.

This will prevent the endless waste of time looking back so we can all move forward to watching this mediocre team being carried by the QB this year.
