We got some MASSIVE breaks with officiating yesterday - we still likely win that game, but the non-offsetting penalties with the Slay blocking out of bounds scrum, and Carter btch-slapping that dude being called after the play (it wasn't) were huge.  Nice to have some go our way for a change.

It's not like the Steelers didn't benefit as well. Eagles still got hoses multiple times. That Blankenship 15 yarder was BS

Pretty close, IMO.

I think so, too.  I think TO might have had more "big-play" home run ability, but that might have just been the scheme they were running.

TO was a cancer, too.  A me-first guy that cared a lot more about his personal stats than the team record.  AJ is a vastly superior in that way.

Parsons and Cowboys divide widens.

Am I the only one....thinking, jesus...we beat Washington and then have to face them in the opening round of the playoffs being a bad thing?  It is hard to beat a team 3 times in a season.....yes, I know we are going for the #1 seed and if we get it, we probably wouldn't see Washington but....if we beat them next week and get the #2 seed....ut oh.....

That's just a cliche, it's not really true. And look at it as it's easier to beat them than the Packers.

I think it was because he blocked Slay all the way to the stands and didn't let go until Slay threw the punch

I figured it'd be offsetting penalties

As the biggest "Gainwell is the jaggiest of JAG's" proponent on here, I'll give him his props for yesterday. He's not great at anything but he's good at all 3 phases of playing RB.

He always makes a bunch of big plays late in the season

I think it's just cause he's fresher than everyone else on the field at that point.

Most of the year,  every year he stinks.

On paper, that's true.  But, we've seen time and time again that Hurts floats too deep in the pocket rather than stepping up.  So, Lane should expect that Hurts will be floating backwards, not stepping up.  Its his MO.   It may not be the way its taught, but that's what happens more often than not.  So, riding the DE around the outside doesn't usually work as well with Hurts as it does other QBs.  It just doesn't.  Lane bears some responsibility on that, as does Hurts.

So the best OT of his generation needs to change the way the entire position is played because the QB can’t perform basic techniques?

No.

Just no.

Lane has zero responsibility for that play. He did everything correctly that every coach has taught every offensive tackle to do.

On Carter’s slap, the ball had been kicked. You can see it in the frame. The ball was no longer in the kicking team’s possession so the refs got that one right. It didn’t have to be after the play, just after the kick.

Lost in everything tonight is that Bacarty may very well have been arrested for drunken parking lot fighting after seeing his team get trounced.

Yet another win for Birds fans everywhere

Luckily his kid was right there, so he was able to bail him out.

That penalty just added onto the horrible officiating that's happened this year. Just complete trash

I love AJ but he can’t touch TO.

T.O.'s "flaw" was his hands and AJ has great hands. Both are great after the catch at getting more yards. I'd say it's pretty even skill wise, but AJ isn't nearly as toxic as T.O., which is actually Owens' biggest flaw, so I'd take AJ over Owens any day.

It was called 'after the kick'... which I believe is very likely true, especially given they went to video for an assist.   He didn't slap him immediately, he waited.   But nonetheless... that was as boneheaded a play as you can make.

Some fans are just like that.  They feel every rookie should make an impact immediately like Q and Dejean have.

The roughing call on Fields wasn't legit to me.  Led to a TD for them.

They need to rethink the slide - I see more QBs getting wrecked pussyfooting with this rule than in the pocket.

And on another player-safety note - Sydney lasted one play yesterday despite the dynamic kickoff being so much less dangerous.  Just give me my conventional kickoffs back!

Can't really complain about the Eagles today... but there's always something to chew on.

Hate to beat an old, dead horse but if they had taken care of business vs Atlanta we'd be sitting pretty right now.

Keep that guy as far away from this locker room as possible.

yup... I bought his Kelly green jersey right after his draft over a year ago with great anticipation. I finally feel comfortable enough to start wearing it  rather than as an expensive dish towel. I really enjoy  watching him play with his energy and hustle.

After surviving a tsunami alert and a very rare tornado 20 minutes away in 5 days, I am flying to Philly for the Dallas game. Looking forward to some normal Philly winter weather, a cheesesteak, and my green #3...lol

It’s pretty close based off some of the pics I’ve seen on Twitter. But definitely boneheaded on Carter’s part cause it very well could’ve been called that other way. That said we’ve been getting hosed on calls all year so I’ll take a game where we don’t

I'm saying that Lane can't be surprised that riding his guy wide like that led to his QB being sacked.   It happens... a lot... with this team.

Mahomes is the king of tip-toeing on the sideline looking to draw a flag. QBs are gaming and taking advantage of the player safety rules. The Trevor Lawrence hit was dirty but he was in that situation because he slid way too late. Hurts scares the crap out of me when he takes off, but he tends to do a good job of getting down before contact.

They need to eliminate the slide.  QBs slide late because they believe they will be protected.  They do not protect themselves and so they get lit up constantly.   Eliminate the slide, force the QBs to protect themselves, and it would lead to a lot less of these head to head collisions.   The feet first slide actually LEADS to these collisions being head to head, because it drops their head into the zone (the only zone, btw) that the defenders are allowed to aim for... the chest/waist area.

Eliminate the slide rule and nearly all of these things go away naturally as a consequence.  The QBs will be looking for a soft place to get down rather than waiting until the last moment believing they will be protected.   And that extra 2 yards or whatever just isn't worth them taking the punishment that they will know is coming for them.  They will look to get down much much quicker... or they will be bracing for impact.    Either way is better/safer.

I can't WAIT for the day someone REALLY takes that pussyfooting btch out.  Seeing he limped off the field yesterday and is being called "week to week" - like he isn't gonna go running out there this week without any kind of limp at all.  Biggest drama queen in the league.

Wow.  That's a pretty damning picture... and just goes to show that he's a moron.   On that play the only contact he made with that guy was that slap.

@mikemack8  I stand corrected.   Looks to not be post-possession after all.
