EMB Blog: 2024 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

There's always the one fan that is foaming at the mouth blaming one play, despite many bad plays that contributed to a team loss. It's not like Smitty's drop was the only bad play. There's a LOT of blame to go around.

Why does it matter to focus only on one play?

Weirdest part is he’s hating so hard on such a good player who had one bad play in like forever

Yeah — skins clearly sold out to take him away.

We should have kept throwing to AJ.

Running wasn't the problem. It was the type of runs.

There were too many inside runs. Get between the OG and OT but too often we were down the side of Jurgens. Or that’s how it seemed.

How bad was Hurts concussion?   Seems like he was ready to return then they took him back.

On a scale of 1-10 from a casual viewing fan standpoint, everything about the injury on the field was about a 2. I didn't see him stumble much, maybe a wince? He gave the thumbs up to the official and had no intentions of coming out of the game. He had his helmet on and was ready to come back in the game from the sideline, then he was gone.

I feel like the quick slant was there to be had all day long. I'm not mad if Kellen Moore is gone after this season.

Barkley and Gainwell each had 1 target and every single other target in the passing game was to Smith or Brown. No attempt to a TE or Dotson. The passing game has to get better and it starts with Moore.

Inside runs are fine. It's running E-W out of shotgun that's the problem. One of our few good second half runs was out of pistol because we got some N-S action.

Yeah agreed at the time it seemed to be nothing. But then on the sideline they took a look and it seemed fine but then he went in to the locker room and was ruled out. So who knows!

Maybe, I’d have to rewatch the game, but it sure seemed like the skins had a lot of penetration from loading the box.

My impression while watching live was it was going to be a feast or famine situation for Barkley where most of the time he’d get stuffed but if he could make it past the LOS he’d have lots of open space.

Would it kill them to run a normal RB screen?

Not arguing with the impact.  But to just dismiss the prior 58 minutes of football is a bit extreme.

Agree.  But what happens in the final quarter or even the final minutes will be magnified.

Defense had a part of blame.  I thought getting FGs on those drives instead of at least 1 or 2 of those being TDs instead cost us.

And so you have to wonder why? Against QBs with wheels you know you can’t over pursue and get behind them. So you have to be disciplined and we didn’t do that today. We knew what Daniels could do and in the first meeting got it right… So why so wrong this time?

Tbh i didn’t think they were great against the ravens but Lamar bailed them out by not taking more advantage of it. If you re-watch that game, he had opportunities to take off but didn’t. And they would’ve led to some solid pickups and close to first downs to keep drives alive. He had one in particular on 3rd down where he had a nice run lane to take off for a good chunk play but he decided to throw last minute and went incomplete. I thought they were better against the Steelers, but then again Wilson is 35+ years old so I didn’t think he was going to kill them with his legs like he would’ve years ago

Imo have to take his running away because once he has that it makes his less than stellar weapons better. Make him have to beat you from the pocket. he has 6 ints in his last 5 games. Frankly it could be more. If he beats you as a passer tip your cap.

So, pretty much a standard game between the Eagles and Washington.

it was. everyone at the gym on Friday was talking about the number 1 seed and I tried to keep reminding them about our history with the skins.

Barkley can’t catch. I don’t trust him. He dropped a huge wheel route late.

Winning solves everything.

Win next week at home versus Dallas.

Take care of business.

Hope Hurts is good to go by then.

Clearly they aren’t good at them despite having Barkley and Gainwell. Maybe they don’t trust the guards to get out quick enough? No clue

Agreed — I don’t know why people get mad at me stating the obvious.

He’s a good player, but he blew it today.

There’s always been a contingent in here that is over the top with Smitty love.

He’s a good player and I’m glad he’s an Eagle, but his fan boys are over the top. Even going as far as saying that he’s better than AJ lol.

He’s also a likable guy, so maybe that’s another reason why he never gets criticized, but he absolutely deserves a ton or criticism for this loss.

But people really like him so it will get special treatment.

It’s hard for me to be too mad at the defense when they forced 5 TOs despite the KO team giving Washington the ball at the 40 all day long. I mean, they started that last drive at what the -43? KO team sucked ass today.

I don’t know what Dotson does in this offense. I refuse to believe he is this useless. But between Quez, Olamide, and Pascal, the third WR in Nick’s offense does basically nothing but get cardio in.

It was a truly terrible throw...

But based on your opinion none of our players can catch. So we just run it every down?

Lol we absolutely did not handle him….even hurt they had a chance to win the game late and we could not stop him.

Time just ran out on them that game.

It was 26-10 with less than 30 seconds to go. They had no chance to win the game late.

They don’t even throw to Dotson when brown or smith are out

33 points as a gift of 5 turnovers by Washington.  Pickett was the primary factor of the loss.  Hurts doesn't get concussed and this game isn't even close.

I hate Hurts and know that is true

Barkley’s hands are overrated. Hes not Westbrook.

Smith can catch, but he dropped a pass that cost us the game.

Is this too complicated for you to understand?
