No but the timing of it makes it more crucial.

Not arguing with the impact.  But to just dismiss the prior 58 minutes of football is a bit extreme.

No but if he catches that then we likely win. And we can use the same thing we've been doing for weeks with Hurts

A win is a win

It’s the single biggest play at such a big big moment. He makes that catch and the game is pretty much over. But he isn’t the biggest reason why we lost.

Still gave him plenty of opportunities to score what 36 points though? So yeah the turnovers are positive but actually they also kind of reinforce how bad this defense was for large chunks.

The thing that the Eagles did not do in this game, that they were better at in the first meeting was containing Daniels inside the pocket. In the first meeting, he had 7 rushes for 18 yards. In this meeting, he had 9 rushes for 81 yards.

I mentioned early in the game, you saw guys getting too far up field and not keeping lane integrity. If you do that against him, he will eventually find the lane and takeoff. Also Lamar Jackson was right about the fact he said he should have ran more. He was 100% correct. Because there were chances an opportunities for him to do it and pick up yardage when you re-watch that game. The fact is the eagles needed to keep Daniels in the pocket. He only completed 61.5% of his passes. Also he made some bad throws in that game. His two interceptions were bad throws. And he had a couple of others that could’ve also been picked. imo if you let Daniels begin to run and get confidence it gets their offense going.

You think that that team has that level of pride?    Nah.  They are booking their vacations, just like we heard from DJ Moore about Chicago.  It will be cold here, and they will be looking for a soft place to land.  Meanwhile, the Eagles should come in all kinds of pissed off about this game, and should be looking to leave no doubt that this team is different from last year's.

I don’t see it bud. They’ve been pretty much out of it for weeks and yet they’ve played hard and tough. I don’t think they’ll just post it in.

Yes.

This is the nature of football. Essentially 99% of the game is noise. It’s why I knew we lost the game as soon as Smith dropped the ball.

So how much did you lose on the game?  :smoke:

There's always the one fan that is foaming at the mouth blaming one play, despite many bad plays that contributed to a team loss. It's not like Smitty's drop was the only bad play. There's a LOT of blame to go around.

Why does it matter to focus only on one play?

It is what it is — Smith lost us the game and weirdos in here refuse to admit it.

I'm really not that upset they lost.  16 straight wins seemed unlikely.  So, they can reset, win against Dallas, rest starters against the Giants, and get a 'bye' of sorts with something to fuel them for the matchup in Round 1 against Washington.   And being the 2 seed, Detroit finally succumbing to their injuries in their first game puts the game for the NFCCG in Philly anyway.   If not, the Eagles get to go play in ideal conditions against the injury riddled Lions.

I'm good.

This is the take. Yes.

This team is not like last year's, they're going to be pissed and next week the defense will get back to being dominant. This game had a lot of weird, ugly things. Mistakes, injuries, penalties, ejection, etc. They will regroup from this.

Silver lining to the loss is it makes it so the Eagles most likely actually rest their starters against the Giants as opposed to playing them on the slim chance that doing so results in the 1 seed (I really don't think the stars were going to align for the Eagles to get the 1 even if they won out).

And so you have to wonder why? Against QBs with wheels you know you can’t over pursue and get behind them. So you have to be disciplined and we didn’t do that today. We knew what Daniels could do and in the first meeting got it right… So why so wrong this time?

I won in multiple ways, actually.

Pulled into first place in my betting league because the person in first bet the eagles plus as soon as Smith dropped the pass I hammered the Skins ML.

Easiest money I’ve made all year on Smith’s shaky hands and narrow shoulders.

I think I'd be in the hospital if I had money on this game

None of today will matter when we win the SB in a few weeks

It cost us the game. Even Smith knows it.

For some reason there are people coping in here pretending it didn’t.

In that moment it cost us the game, but there were other moments that did as well.  Giving up the 4th and 11 and the 4th and 5.  Taking a sack at the end of the first half pushing Elliot out to a 56 yard attempt, 2 defensive 15 yard penalties on the same drive leading to a TD.  Bunch of stuff.  But no doubt,  if Devonta makes that catch we win.

Great players can have bad plays. It's ok to say that!

Pats 14, Bills 7 at half.

Vikings, Seahawks tied at 17 in the 3rd.

If my math is right, Saquon Barkley had 12 carries for 120 yards at the end of the 1st quarter.

Final 3 quarters, 17 carries for 30 yards.

Agreed — I don’t know why people get mad at me stating the obvious.

He’s a good player, but he blew it today.

How bad was Hurts concussion?   Seems like he was ready to return then they took him back.

bum commanders clinched hopefully they get 6 seed

Going to be a long week to wait though isn’t it. Man I hate a loss. Especially a loss like that.

So, pretty much a standard game between the Eagles and Washington.

He looked woozy when he got up off the ground.

Yeah — skins clearly sold out to take him away.

We should have kept throwing to AJ.
