Such a legendary sketch. Apparently it bombed at the table read and was almost cut, but then killed at dress and the rest is history.

One of the only great sketches to come from the more recent cast.  SNL is a farce compared to what it once was.

This is a team with a very good defense still learning to be great and an offense that is highly non-traditional and wins via run, run, run.  They could win the SB.  It took an almost unthinkable series of bad luck events just to drop a should-have-gone-the-other-way nailbiter against a pretty good playoff team.  But they can't pass their way over and above opponents in laugher blowouts (with or without Hurts), so playoff games are not going to be a gimme.  In total, I don't see them in any less of a positive light than before.  And we got to stop chasing after a bye week we were never getting anyway, so that's a silver lining.

But, a couple downstream consequences:

1. I will be looking for the defense to at least demonstrate an emotional and performance rebound to get back on the right track next week.  Absolutely need to see that.

2. I'll blow one week off to weather, but it's imperative to see ST stop providing pathetically short fields after kickoffs.  That was one of the biggest and most under-discussed of the sequential failures that allowed a loss yesterday.

3. Dallas week is now a must-win game.  The Eagles, from an INJURY standpoint, are starting to show some foundational wear and tear cracks at the end of the year.  This is still a team that projects to have a remarkably "available" roster for the playoffs...but everyone is starting to get dinged.  Barkley is approaching an unthinkable workload.  Almost every player on defense has been walking off the field and missing snaps.  Hurts has his concussion and usual late season injury from running too much.  The sky is the limit if everyone spends week 18 at the spa.  If they are gutting out a win in 15 degrees for week 18 after choking one away against Dallas, I will have a very, very pessimistic outlook on their playoff run.  They'll almost certainly be banged up wild card weekend against a team that has a knack for playing them tough.

Beat Dallas and then pack it in for the playoffs.

I agree with all of this.  I do think the ST kickoffs were likely the result of the stadium but it looked like they were not getting downfield in any kind of hurry.  It was almost like McCaffrey had until the 25 or 30 before there was any contact.  I am not sure why that was the case. It seemed like hangtime was ok.  He certainly was not getting any depth on the kickoffs.  It was like after the one big return, they were more concerned about contain but focused on contain to the detriment of getting downfield.  They need to get this fixed.  

The Cowboys need to be bullied up front next week.  The team has to come back and just beat the crap out of them up front.  It is a must-win game if they want to make a run in the playoffs.  They need to prepare like it is a playoff game.

I lean towards they would have won just because the offense would have been better able to move the ball.  I just think there were other issues in that game.  The special teams needed to step up on kickoffs and could not do anything.  The defense could not get a stop on the last drive.  Smith had the bad drop as did Barkley.

One thing I was kind of shocked about and can't believe the announcers didn't mention it that the Commanders were still in the game and won the game after committing 5 turnovers.  To me that is pretty preposterous.  Commentates must have missed that.

Completely disagree. They change the defense they have to play when Hurts isn't out there, not to mention the ability to keep the D on the bench. Any D against a competent offense will give. If Hurts is out there we hold the ball longer, keeping our D fresh, and score more. I think we win running away if he's out there. 

Any guesses on where Shawn Smith (the head referee in yesterday's game) is from?   

The frustration that we feel from yesterday. Man, I can't wait to demolish Dallas next Sunday.

Hmmm… good for Kenny for gutting it out with a bad rib. He already has a weak arm and to not be able to torque his body to push his throws, well that could’ve led to a lot of turnovers.

I’d put in McKee in that circumstance, but I’m not watching practice (just PS games).

Sure, but they don't see 13 in the box either and Barkley likely goes for 200.

Should Saquon's drop been reviewed?  Seems like he had the catch laying on his butt and once touched should have been ruled down.  I was free streaming it so couldn't rewind to take another look

I don't think there was anything there to overturn the call on the field.

But it is an interesting thing, the Giants might tank and bench their starters so they can lose and get higher draft pick. 

 

 

I don't see a great QB in this draft. I'd rather them get a mediocre QB this year then suck again and get Manning next year

Offense put up the points. Hurts only put up 7 points on his watch. You can't use "If".  Pickett anx the O put up a winning effort score. 

Really came down to the defense.

This was the Falcons game all over. Bad drop by a good player and the defense falling flat when we needed them the most.
