I will say, there are a couple people on my FB feed blaming this loss on...Jalen Hurts?

At some point, just admit you hate the guy irrationally.

I would absolutely love to see the FB reintroduced in Philly!   But, would they be willing to invest a draft pick in one?   They might just move Van Sumeran full time and let him learn some TE stuff.  But, I would absolutely love a FB here.

Did I mention I'd love a FB?   I love FBs.  Give me Lorenzo Neal 2.0!   Maybe make it the more 21st century version of a FB, and we can get a Keith Byars or Larry Centers style guy who can contribute to the passing game.

How many colleges have a FB? Max Bredeson from Michigan?

If Hurts doesn’t play, it feels increasingly likely that we drop another game to Dallas and have to play everyone week 18 just to clinch.

But I’m sure that won’t be a popular take.

I saw a quote from Hurts somewhere saying he was fine and is playing but I couldn’t find it again so maybe it wasn’t true.

My issue was more luvu leading with his helmet on the play after he began going down. To me I’ve seen the league call that a penalty this year a ton of times

Tbh the one where they threw the flag and picked it up with Pickett was imo BS. The defender goes for the tackle after he began to slide but not just go for the tackle leading with his forearm. Defender is super fortunate pickett’s helmet went just under it. That felt like the defender was trying to get a cheap shot in at his head leading with his forearm. Imo i don’t think he was using his forearm to take a shot at his chest or shoulder pads. Imo He was trying for a head shot and missed cause of pickett’s head going under it.

In terms of Luvu there’s the physics of trying lay a hit while going downward. Looks to me like he’s aiming to crack Jalen in the shoulder and for the most part succeeds.

Agreed - on the Kenny hit/non-hit, that guy saw the slide but still wanted to get a lick in. Is Dan Quinn more forgiving of these extra curriculars, maybe.

  Fields is a much worse passer.

I don’t disagree. You telling me a large portion of the fanbase wouldn’t be advocating for him?

Some random cleanup thoughts from yesterday.

1. If Jeremy Chinn said the same exact thing to AJ Brown that CJGJ said to whatever offensive player it was(I didn't see) and AJ Brown responded by shoving Chinn in the face, there would have been one flag thrown and it would've been on AJ Brown for retaliating with a physical act. I'm tired of people assuming officials operate in good faith, when we've seem time and time again they do not. They are human beings and are subject to bias like anyone else is at their job. CJGJ was singled out because of his reputation.

2. It was mentioned with Calcaterra blocking, but also enough of DeJean returning punts. Stop subjecting him to unnecessary hits when you have Covey who is a good returner. How they've been handling those two facets of the team is pure arrogance. And FFS in the offseason find a legitimate backup TE who can block. Calcaterra is not nearly good enough as a receiver to make up for his blocking deficiencies.

3. I've about had it with no other WRs on the roster getting opportunities. I get that Brown and Smith are great so of course you're gonna want to throw to them, but my god. Dotson is basically a full time decoy. I refuse to believe he's that bad to where he can't even get some plays run for him. Or QBs just have decided not to look his way.

Good for him.  Unsportsmanlike penalties for trash talk it ridiculous.

What makes the whole thing worse for the officials, is the guy who punched him straight in the face and it happened right in front of the official got no penalty towards disqualification. That is 100% of penalty regardless of what CJGJ did. The officials can say whatever they want about his second penalty and throwing him out, but the fact that that guy punched him in the face and it happened right in front of your official and you just ignored it is incompetency at the highest form.

not only that they had the same thing happened last week. So punches to the face are now more acceptable than trash talking? The officials this year have been such Fing horseshit. NFL continues to not actually care. At some point it’s going to blow up on them

Someone posted yesterday it opened at -9.5

No idea where they are getting 7.5 from

Can Hurts practice before he clears protocol? I'm under the impression that he can't but could be wrong.

Practicing is part of clearing protocol

Few more thoughts on yesterday's game and moving forward:

- If you had told me before the game that we'd lose Hurts after 11 snaps, I'd have guessed we would lose by 2 scores. The defense has been great, but it is aided by the offense playing keep away as well. Based on what we saw of Pickett in the preseason, I would have thought this would have been like the DAL and NO games in 2022. The fact that a playoff team (albeit the worst one) needed a last second TD to beat us, at home...there's nothing to panic about.

- I really don't like to harp on the refs, but...WTF. The roughing the passer call on Milton on the 1st WSH TD drive was soft as hell. The call on Jalen Carter was even worse. And I really don't know you could get thrown out of a game for bad words. But the one that really killed us was the non-calls on AJ in the end zone -- PI on Lattimore, hit to the head on the safety.

- I have generally really liked Greg Olson, but...that was shameful yesterday by him and Joe Davis. Olsen crying about the PI calls on Lattimore that were obvious. Davis trying to hype up Washington beating a backup QB. And how does Fox not have any footage of whatever CJGJ did to get ejected?

- I want more transparency on the concussion protocol. Clearly Jalen thought he passed the exam and was coming back in. It's very suspect the NFL never answers for this.

- In a world where the top 2 wild card teams are significantly better than the potential NFC West and South champs, getting the 2 seed would be a blessing in disguise.

Basically, my opinion of this team hasn't changed one bit. I still see us as the best team in the NFC.

I also think Washington fans are setting up for RG3 v2.0.

Hurts better play, or we are f’ed. Even our best in the NFL run game fell off a cliff, aside from 1 run, after Hurts went out.

He led with his helmet. It’s pretty blatant he leads with his helmet.  regardless its helmet to helmet can see it in the photo. It’s a penalty just on that alone.

if that is Josh Allen, or Patrick Mahomes, they’re throwing that flag. The fact of the matter was that should’ve been a flag for helmet to helmet regardless. Pickett and the forearm was 100% a penalty simply on intent and Pickett already gave himself up when he started going for it. Imo because it didn’t get him in the helmet and the officials didn’t want to be the "determining factor” they picked it up. Meanwhile, they wouldn’t have been the determining factor. It was the  defensive player that decided he was going for a dirty shot st the qb

100%.  BUT the wildcat play should have worked.  Saquon failed to execute.  if he threw just as the receiver broke, it was a TD (assuming we don't botch another easy toss and catch).

Nah. He’s not a QB. I don’t think he’d be able to float it over the one guy and put it in a spot the guy defending Smith wouldn’t be able to make a play on the ball. That’s a high ask throw for a RB who never attempted a pass in the NFL

Just draft Desmond Watson

We’ll have to do some scoreboard this weekend. If Packers lose to Vikings and the Commanders beat the Falcons, Packers fall to 7th seed and Commanders control their destiny as the 6th

Have to agree.  There was a play to be made but you made it much harder by trying to get an RB to throw it.

ABSOLUTELY prefer going N/S on the play.

Well there's a faction here that was saying run him into the ground lol.

I guess that faction wants to see him in the playoffs looking like he did in the second half against the Commanders.

I realize he had the big TD run yesterday, but I already think he’s got some less pep in his step than the beginning of the year.

He needs 14 days of no football if he’s going to be the version of himself the eagles need to carry them to the SB.

San Diego State. Stanford. It's the Harbaugh influence. Iowa does too.

Sarinstil flapping his wings at Eagles fans… better watch out, the last rookie didn’t have a good time.

It's why, if we beat Dallas, I am sitting him week 18 regardless of how close he is to the record. The whole team has been going since week 6...getting to take week 18 off would be huge.

Honestly?  Live by the sword die by the sword.  They utilize Hurts as a run first qb and physical running back.  That utilization is unquestionably the cause of why they played that game with their backup qb under center.  I don’t know if that’s blaming Hurts, but is absolutely a hazard how they run their offense and built the team.

Game flexed to 1:00PM

Well, damn...west coast guy likes the later kickoffs.
