I think the NFL should have done a slate of Christmas Eve games rather than trying to take over Christmas Day.

The only possible way the top 2 teams get a bye is to have an even number of teams play. Which means the only viable solution is to add an 8th team in each conference. That along with an eventual 18th game is likely coming in the near future.

The math doesn't add up.  8 teams mean you eliminate all byes in the playoffs.

It would have to follow the NCAA style and go to 12 teams, then the top 4 get byes... which would be all the division winners... but with only 16 teams per conference, that's ridiculously bloated playoffs, which it already is with 7.

Three division games to end the season feels like schedule makers trying too hard.

They are trying to make the final week meaningful for as many games as possible.

Has anyone, in the history of the game, been kicked out for trash talk before? That seems like it's a little beyond the pale for me.

It’s ridiculous

Yeah I get it but it’s overkill imo.

Maybe not but they should

If we are discussing what's best for the game... you are right.  Meanwhile, if the goal is the bank account... they will never put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Yeah, Vikas went over the first part, which made sense, and I hated the addition of a 7th team which I often times call the Revenue Seed. I don't like the idea of an 8th team even moreso, but it seems inevitable they're going to water down the product more with an 18th regular season game, and an 8th seed in the very near future.

i wish the nfl would get homefield advantage just cause you win the division. Just saying the Vikings shouldn’t have to go play a road game at 14-3 in Tampa/atlanta (who’s potentially 9-8) cause the nfc south is not a good division and they play in the best division in football. Frankly i think it should be you get a playoff spot if you win the division but seeding goes by record.

Don't mess with it too much.  Divisions mean something.  Let it be.

While I'm a traditionalist, I always felt seeding by record was a better argument than letting a 7th team into the playoffs (because every few years a 10-6 team misses out and cries).

Then let them cry.

Hopefully the falcons win sunday so commanders have to play week 18

They likely would have to play either way unless they don't care about seeding and just want to play the Eagles in the WC round. Seems like that would be silly and they would be better off trying to be the 6th seed.

Tuesday games?!?!  Where does it end?

It's ridiculous that we have no information on what he said/did to warrant being ejected. Short of a racial slur, I'm not sure what justifies it.

Kinda weird how it hasn't gotten out one way or the other. If it was nothing, CJGJ would probably just tweet what he said. If it was really bad, you think it would get leaked out somehow so the NFL and refs look justified. Being quiet from both sides is just weird.

Sadly, it won't end. I think the league already said they want to make Xmas games a yearly thing now, so they'll be playing them any way they have to schedule it.

One thing that was finally settled around here is that life without Hurts sucks.

I am really starting to hate the NFL.

If they want to do 8 teams in the playoffs you could eliminate the bye for the #1 seed but give everyone a bye. 1st week of the playoffs is the AFC games followed by a bye. 2nd week is all NFC games coming off a bye. Each year it alternates.

It weakens the importance of the #1 seed somewhat, but they still get home field advantage and playing against the 8th seed is almost like a bye. I don't think a 7th seed has even beaten a #2 seed yet.

I expect Christmas Eve and Christmas games next year (Wednesday/Thursday).

No doubt between the extra games, and all the streaming services needed to watch games, the Super Bowl will one day be on Pay Per View. Going to be interesting to see the uproar when that's announced.

Green Bay over Dallas last year.

Man, that was so much fun.

When that's announced, I will have watched my final NFL game.

I have a feeling many long time fans are going to call it quits at that point.
