Teams calling players a pick ahead isn’t really all that out of the ordinary. I feel like I read stories like this every year, but it’s usually on day 3.

They probably called because they were confident Dallas wasn’t going wr

I haven’t watched Howie’s press conference. I know he said they projected Lemon to go top 15. Did he say specifically that he had a round 1 grade on him?

He said they had a list of guys they'd trade up for and he was on the list. So probably.

Yep. Will we miss a long-term TE2? No, because they can be found later on. But it would have been nice to get one this year.

Im afraid round 4 may have been Royer, Raridon, Boerkircher territory. Based on other people's mocks. Id take Royer and Raridon in round 3. Some even have delp in round 4. Id take him or Klare in round 2. I might even get crazy and say Mundt is our blocking TE, lets go with Stowers in round 2.

At CB when the top ones are gone, round 4 is where you start looking at the guys who are scheme fits like Masses, and Prysock. If Demmins is really still there in round 4 as well...

When the top safeties are gone round 4 is where you consider a guy like Taaffe who still slots right in to Blankenship's role.

Looked like a good spot to consider an OL like Zuhn, or some tackle projects like Crownover or Burke.

It may have been where to get another backup QB if we dont go big with Nuss. Kulbnick, Altmeyer, Cole Payton...

Our needs aligned pretty well with that round and we lost not 1 but 2 picks there. Its going to have an impact on the strength of this class for us...

I track my perceived hit rate of players in Eagles drafts since 2010. Hit rate is 73% (1st), 73% (2nd), 69% (3rd), then drops to 44% in the 4th round. 5th actually bumps up just a little to 47%.

It tells me the Eagles have just as equal of a shot to draft a hit in the 5th as they do in the 4th.

I don't think they are going to miss out on much in the 4th with the picks they traded.

Smoooooth

Don't think Eagles liked Freeling and Iheanachor as much as others projected. Could've easily gotten both.

True. I’ve commented that both of those guys need a redshirt year…at least one. Bad luck for them that they aren’t coming here, where we can give them that year.

You really cant lump draft classes together. They are all very different when considering overall depth, and more specifically depth at individual positions. Then, do those deep positions happen to align with your needs that year.

This was an excellent class for us with depth at all of our needs except OL. But even some interior OL are solid options in that round 4 area.

This is also the first year in a long time where we don’t really know what they are looking for at OL. We have a pretty good clue…but it’s year 1 post stout.

I thought he was really scheme dependent, and I’m not sure this was the scheme for him.

Strongly disagree. He's a perfect fit for the slot in an offense with stretch runs and play action.

So far we haven't heard about prank phone calls to players. Maybe they finally put a better process in place. Now they have to deal with players already talking to a team 2 picks away.

The production numbers for Makai are crazy

I still don't love the Lemon pick. I don't hate it. I'm "fine" with it. I think he's a good player. I prefer upside in the draft. Not sure he has elite upside and I always prefer gambling on that. I would have been happier if they were able to move up for Freeling. Impossible to know who Howie had ranked higher on his board between the two.

But Freeling was also a projection and is raw, so I can't pretend I know he's going to be some star OT either. There wasn't really anyone where the Eagles were picking that I would have been over the moon with given the draft class. What I hate is the uncertainty of the team's future at OT. It's not a great spot to be in. And if Lane retires next year they're really gonna have their backs against the wall finding an OT in next year's draft. And if it's not a great OT class, they could be in a lot of trouble. Need the anxiety of not having that heir apparent gone. But maybe Lane doesn't retire after this season. Everyone assumes he will, but maybe he's like Trent Williams and keeps going. Who knows.

I just hope they don't force OT today. I think there's actually better IOL today when it comes to OL. Day two looks very strong on defense with safeties and edge guys available. And some TEs I really like, but 54 feels a tad early for most of them. I don't know if he'll be there but I'd love Bisontis today.

Max Klare, Oscar Delp, TJ Parker, Cashius Howell, Chris Bell, Chase Bisontis, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, AJ Haulcy are my favs today.

At OT, in signing Fred Johnson as security for Lane, they don't have a "need" for this year. Clearly they weren't strong on this OT class, they could have taken several options last night. Trading up for a WR proves that even further. I'd like to see them add someone later just to take a chance to develop for depth, but they may have that already and continue to develop the OTs they took last year.

They'll draft Lane's replacement next year.

I do want to see them add at OG and maybe Center as well. Need Dickerson's replacement and insurance at Center.

I agree that Smith is leagues better than Agholor outside. Smith is an elite WR. Being able to utilize him in the slot frequently allows him to be more productive. My concern is that Lemon is solely a slot WR which limits the ability to utilize Smith in the slot effectively.

I expect them to ruin a lot of four-WR sets with Hollywood and Wicks outside and both Smith and Lemon in the slots.

Howie took Dallas Goedert in Dallas, a player they wanted. Now this, right in their own city. Savage.

Hurts has to be comfortable potentially throwing 10+ INTs next season. It will come with the territory in this new offense and not being as risk averse as he’s been the past couple of years. It’s not the end of the world, Darnold threw 14 last year. But if he plays hesitant, holds onto the ball too long, and isn’t able to adapt to anticipatory, timing, and over the middle throws then this won’t work.

Lemon looks like a very good KR from his USC film as well. I think he steps right in and is the Eagles #2 option in the passing game as a rookie.

There's 15 years worth of data. Sure it doesn't represent every draft class individually, but over time it gives you a pretty accurate picture of how each round tends to pan out and what positions they are good at drafting. Howie has been the constant. Looking at the Eagles selections in the 4th round over the past 15 years can give you a good indication as to how they will do in the 2026 4th round. Only 1 time in the past 15 years have they selected OL in the 4th round (Jack Driscoll). I'm not saying they won't draft OL in the 4th, but historically they don't do it.

It's not perfect, but based on the numbers I'm not too worried they are missing out on players like Avonte Maddox or Josh Sweat, when its more likely to be a Zech McPhearson or Kelee Ringo type of player.

They need anything they can get on the OL.

Lane is going to miss significant time like he always does. Dickerson and the center (drawing a blank) seem to be trajecting towards having the "injury prone” designation.

I’d be ok if they do OL with 2 of 3 picks tonight. Even though they still need depth at edge rusher and TE.

I clarified it a little more later on. He’s a terrific fit for the slot role. The question is how much will we be in 11 personnel? Is he good enough to play outside if we aren’t in a condensed split?

Jayden Reed is a terrific player who fits GB’s offense, but he is a slot only so far in his career. Obviously the Eagles think he’s more than that, but I have my concerns.

Ok, so what picks do we have on day3?
