By the way, Howie continues to keep early picks below 23 years of age. Even in a draft FULL of 24 year olds, Lemon is only 21. Will be 22 in June.

Looks like that is what they did though

McVay was clearly irritated at the pick during their PC last night.

I just wasn't expecting it to be so public lol

McVay basically confirming that there isn't communication is not a good sign

Gargano said Eagles wanted Proctor. Also tried to get up to 16 with the Jets but they wanted too much. Thinks it might have been for Sadiq. Didn't mention Freeling.

I did a search for Nacua's draft report

"Nacua was viewed as a below-average athlete, with a poor relative athletic score. His 4.57 40-yard dash was considered slow for an NFL wide receiver, along with limited top-end speed and burst."

It also said clunky footwork and he'd struggle against press.

People (not you) being critical of him don't have a clue what he can become. He's not going to be JSN or Nacua. He's going to be a mix of both and put his own mark on things.

Pretty much the exact same size, tough as hell, great hands, plays at his best in the slot, is a willing and good blocker, no diva BS.....he is Amon-Ra 2.0

Jordan Addison when he is used as a target monster is a very good result if thats what we get. Jordan Addison with 20 more pounds of bulk, and dawg in him is going to be something really good.

This class is awful. Why would we want 5ths, 6ths, and 7ths?

For entertainment.

What did "Fran say?" I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear back from you.

Be sure to get your picks in the consolation master of the draft thread for a chance to win the Bobeph **** Cup.

So far I am the only entry.

A lot of people are aiming high with the comps using Puka, JSN, even St. Brown

I dont know what the ceiling will be. That will mostly depend on the effectiveness of the coordinator and QB.

I think you got a high floor though. I think a GREAT comp no one has even said is Jordan Addison, who interestingly got picked at 23rd overall. Lemon is stronger and slightly heavier than Addison but generally very comparable. Hands, both 5'11'', route running, can run all the routes, both had punt return experience... what a coincidence, both from USC. Im honestly shocked no one has said this.

I actually thought on the tv where they compared him to Edelman was pretty good. They are same size and weight. The difference is really more coming into the NFL lemon is a far more polished whereas New England took Edelman and he was a quarterback at Kent state. So he wasn’t nearly as polished as a WR and he got to play with Tom Brady.

Really this pick shows the Eagles are going in a different direction with what they want their offense to be. They are all in on mannion and his version of the mcvey/shanahan/lafleur offense. the success lemon is going to have or not have will be dictated on the Eagles ability to use the middle of the field effectively and at a level we really haven’t utilized since 2022.

Don't like comparing him to JSN, JSN is definitely faster than Lemon. I think Lemon is more like Nacua. Difference is Nacua is 3 inches taller and 20 lbs heavier. JSN is faster and also a little taller.

Lemon measured 5’ 11 1/8” and 192 pounds at the combine and ran a 4.48 at his pro day.

JSN measured at 6’ 0 5/8” and 196. He ran a 4.52 at his pro day.

Nacua was measured at 6’1 5/8” and 201 pounds.

So Lemon is faster than JSN and you are grossly exaggerating the difference in size of Nacua.

I love Delp, but would be opposed to him at 54. Has upside, but the reality is his production was pretty awful. At 54 you want proven producers. I'd take him in the 3rd though.

54 feels high, but he’s my guy at TE. Can block and has so much juice. I can see him being a monster on limited touches and schemed up plays for him.

Just a 5th round comp and the 6th from the Sydney Brown trade

178 and 198

Didn’t we get a 7th back in the Cowboys trade?

Edit: nevermind. It was a 2027 7th

Does CTE weigh anything? If it does, Nacua has him by at least 50lbs

it’s also littered with slow bad WRs the eagles have drafted.

I think regardless of what anyone thinks of the pick right now, or the value which disappoints me, eagles fans are going to be won over by this guy's toughness on the football field.

He is going to go catch a hospital ball with no regard for his life, or break some tackles you never expect him to break, or put his shoulder down at the goal line, and people are just going to love rooting for him and watching the way he plays.

These particular highlights in this short clip get the blood pumping and its hard to imagine this guy not having at least a very solid floor.

You keep reporting on what Gargano says as if he has ever been anyone other than a guy who has horrible sources or pulls things out of his ass.

I'm not grossly exaggerating it. Nacua is listed at 6'2 and Lemon is listed at 5'11. That's 3 inches, which is what I said. Nacua is listed at 212 and Lemon 192. That's 20 lbs which is also what I said.

Also disagree Lemon is faster, I've seen both play enough to feel confident JSN is faster. And JSN was also timed at 4.48 as well, so timed speed will be close, but I know what my eyes tell me when watching. And I'm not saying Lemon is slow, just that JSN is faster and I believe will be more of a down the field threat than Lemon in the NFL though both will make most of their living over the middle.

bad?

He may not be your cup of tea. But bad WR?

I get not loving this. I have about 49% disappointment mostly due to the trade. I have a little bit of doubt about his ability and that he may always be a very scheme or role dependent player.

But hes the Biletnikoff award winner because he is not bad. He is good.

Nope, it’s breaks. Speed is easier to cover. You didn’t listen to Howie and Nick’s press conferences. They have been pretty transparent about this. It is why a railed on Dotson last season. Eagles tried speed (Watkins, who BTW is on the team), bad hands, rarely got open, because speed alone isn’t that hard to cover. They went for better hands with a bit less speed. Rarely open because he just couldn’t break, feint etc. Zone killed them because Brown wasn’t running well (you ever try a quick move on a strained hammy) and Dotson’s one speed, no breaks didn’t do it.

The NFL graveyard is littered with speed WRs you liked in drafts.

Agreed mostly.

But I do think we need to be very specific about WR positions.

Brown is a split end. That is the most difficult position to fill because it does require a more elite physical profile. You need strength to beat jams since a corner can line up right on the line. You want speed because you’re isolated out wide. You want size, again, because you’re isolated and can win jump balls away from coverage help.

Lemon is a slot receiver and most of that stuff doesn’t matter. Quickness, route running, and hands are what wins because you’re playing in the middle of the field in traffic.

Again, we have actual official measurements and they do not match your claims.
