Brown is like Haulcy in this draft. If he can just fly around as a centerfield type, he will make plays on the ball, or separate WRs from the ball at the catch point.

He needs to have no direct man responsibilities.

And dont expect him to thrive up in the box tackling RBs.

IF he is in the right scheme and used just right, he may be an ok player.

So we moved up 8 picks in the 4th round and 18 picks in the 6th round.

That seems like a bad trade but more indicative with how bad Brown is.

Holy crap that's a bad trade.

Incredible to get anything for Brown. He stinks.

I like the pick swaps. They could be difference makers.

A non AJ "Brown" trade!

On the draft trade value chart, it's the equivalent return of pick #170 in the 5th round. ATL doesn't have a 5th round pick so this substitutes for it.

Pretty decent value for a 3rd round pick who wasn't likely to make your roster. I was always a bit ticked off the Eagles didn't grab Drew Sanders with that selection, but injuries have derailed him from being any better than Brown.

I guess it is what it is.

Disgusted. Another terrible move to trade him. He will be a star in Atlanta.

Figured Epps would be back, seemed too obvious. They'll draft a safety in the first 4 rounds.

Okay did a little homework. The Vikings received a 3rd round draft compensation for the Sam Darnold 1 year/$10M Contract he received from Seahawks in free agency. So I can easily see that offer for McKee in free agency. Now just to receive a 4th rounder a QB has to average 5M-8M  APY. Unless McKee falls flat on his face this year with any opportunities, we can realistically secure a 3rd/4th rounder. I am still feeling a 3rd rounder here. We will have to wait and watch. I am sure there are alot of variables here in determining compensation and don't profess to be an expert on this. I like the idea mentioned above by T-1000 as a conditional 2nd round pick as what sounds interesting here.

I don't think Howie will move him for less than a 3rd round pick.

Brown is a heat seeking missle but unfortunately it's locked onto friendly fire mode. Glad he got traded before he took out more players :)

"Heat seeking” implies that he has a target in the first place

This is my favorite stat of his:

2024 Season: Recorded penalties for player out of bounds on a kick (10/20), offensive holding (11/14), illegal formation (12/22), and illegal touch kick (1/12/25), according to NFL Penalties

Those are all from just the 2024 season, and all on special teams. The 2024 season, where he missed the first half due to injury.

That’s ridiculous haha

Mukuba sighs a breath of relief.

I was told signing Epps was impossible.

Marcus Epps resigned, @T-1000 smiles?

If he was going to play in Fangio's system, he would have had more snaps last season.

We will always have this

Epps should be 3rd/4th safety here. Like him in fill-in role. Gets hurt a bunch and getting older. Still really can use 2 more safeties in here. Makuba is small and may not hold up.

Forgot a out this other gem from AJ this past season.

I LOVE the safety moves we made today. Basically swapped Brown, our ST only backup safety, for JT Gray, a ST only S who’s a 3 time All Pro. Brought back Epps who’s still a decent player and an okay floor. Got some draft pick value for Brown, which surprised the hell out of me. Good day at the office.

Could've had former teammate Jaquon Brisker for next to nothing.

Doesn't Brisker have previous concussion issues ?

Signing Epps was expected. J.T. Gray is "we don't have a hole at that spot" signing.

Still my expectation is Epps and draft someone who can compete, and hopefully grow into a starter role.

The moves Howie just made are low key really good and the types of wins on the margin that can make a difference. First he trades Sydney Brown who absolutely sucks and moves up 8 spots in the 4th round, and 18 in the 6th round. Getting anything of value for him is good enough. Moving up in the 4th and 6th is just an added bonus. Then Howie goes out and signs a guy in JT Grey who is a depth safety who excels on special teams. Essentially they got another Sydney Brown and moved up in the 4th and 6th for free.

Lastly, he finally brings back Marcus Epps which I have been waiting for him to do for over a week. I said it hen Blankenship left and I will say it again: Epps isn't much of a downgrade at all from Reed and I haven't seen contract details but I am assuming he will be much cheaper.

So the end result is you swap out Blankenship for Epps (which is pretty much a wash) and save a bunch of cap space, replace Sydney Brown with an older Sydney Brown, and move up in the 4th and 6th rounds. I call it like I see it and this is excellent work by Howie. I still hope they draft a safety somewhere in the 2nd-4th round range but they should be decent enough at safety especially with the three corners they have.

Now Howie has to keep the momentum going and get that legit edge rusher and sign a veteran OL or two with starting experience and things are starting to look up. Still work to be done for sure but today was real progress.
