I feel like the Browns are often on the winning end of trades but they just can’t hit on the actual draft selections

Your brown eye has been on the winning side when @hputenis only gets tip deep

    A 2028 1 is more valuable than a 2027 2.

Yeah. Howie should have held firm. That would have helped! 200w (1).gif

Are we projected any other comp picks besides the 3rd for Phillips?

Probably a 6th. Woolen and Ebiketie canceled out the rest

This will be remembered as one of Howie’s best moves, getting almost everything back after renting AJ for 4 years

Four prime years of AJ Brown, one SB win, another SB appearance, for the ultimate cost of a 3rd for a 5th. That is why Howie is the best in the business.

Getting 2 SB appearances and a ring out of it

Fleeced by the Pats.

Howie didn't even try.

He just can't help himself. I think at this point he knows what a joke he is and is just leaning into it.

The Bills got a 2025 2nd round pick for Stefon Diggs, a 2024 6th, and a 2025 5th. Diggs was 30 years old coming off of a 107 reception, 1,183 yard, 8 TD season.

Howie got a 2028 1st round pick and 2027 5th round pick for AJ Brown. Brown is 29 years old coming off of a 78 reception, 1,003 yard, 7 TD season.

Howie raked here. Got rid of a malcontent right before he falls off the cliff here in next year or so.

Nope that was never happening. He stinks, no use for him.

If AJ Brown goes on to have a big year, Howie will look pretty bad given he didn't have to do this despite his discontented he was. But that 2028 1st will be useful to help rebuild a team that is headed for an iceberg soon and will need a new QB.

What he does there and what he would have done here, based on how things played out last year, are two different things.

The Eagles were never getting a 2027 1st round pick for AJ. They wanted A first...they got it. They wanted some 2027 sweetener and they didn't get it. But the first was enough.

Howie may or may not be playing 3-D chess, but he does have a bigger picture view of team-need timing and may look to 2028 as a better moment for an extra first.

The 2028 1st can be used to trade up in 2027 draft, doesn't have to necessarily wait that long to have benefit.

Maybe it can even be traded for a 2029 first.

We could trade it for a 2027 2!

Yep, and F off for quitting on the team and dropping 3 passes in the 49'ers playoff game. Good riddance.

Not his first choice but as others have said, he's going to flip it if he needs to make a big move. Has a lot of picks and players now so plenty of ammo to get someone we like in the draft. And we have a great roster so looking forward to contending too.

Question is who would you trade a 2028 1st round pick for to help the current team?

I thought we were also getting booty?

We preferred the 2027 5.

Again. I expect that Hurts has a career year for passing yards and that this WR Group to be the strongest one we've had in years. Will be nice not having a dysfunctional bunch, sans the Diva. Howie has a chance of an A plus offseason if he fetches a vet safety like Delpit or Reid. At an A minus right this minute.

I doubt that considering the perceived strength of the 2027 draft, particularly at QB if things go sideways with Hurts this year.

The Eagles will get the better of the two 5th round picks New England owns in 2027 which is their and Chicagos so either way it will likely be a late 5th.

They should have held firm. The Patriots were never going into 2026 with just Doubs.

I feel you. But I think, for a GM, it's also important to stay true to your word. If they'd indeed agreed this deal months ago, the Patriots operated knowing they'd have Brown in June and Howie wasn't going to use Vrabel's drama for leverage. A first is fair.

I've been hearing this line all over the place both locally and nationally. "It's crazy it came to this. I don't understand why he was so unhappy in Philly, they won so much together."

I hate to burst the bubble of people, but he was not the only player unhappy. We don't get 3 stories a year about Jalen Hurts with leaks galore if he was.

Several people who cover the team have reported for well over a year that other players on the team are unhappy as well. Many of them unhappy with the QB. The difference was AJ Brown is the only one who popped off about it on social media.
