Perhaps, but to continue your comparison, the "problem” with Hunt coming out of college wasn’t his skill set. The projection was simple: add some muscle, and with his movement skills he’d be a unique pass rusher/pass coverage/run defender combination.

I don’t see this same type of projection with Stowers. Adding some muscle will help, but I just don’t think he has the mentality or natural strength to ever be even a mediocre blocker. He truly looks lost to my eye in every way when he attempts to block.

I don’t think Hunt had all the pass moves and such figured out at Houston Christian. That school is barely more than a high school.

I don’t think that they plan to use Stowers a ton initially. Mundt seems to be TE2. They’ll bring him along, kind of like the plan was with Hunt.

Gawd I hope I’m eventually proven wrong, but, that Stowers draft pick, SMH.

He probably won’t get much action on game day until the back half of the regular season.

One thing Im happy about is that Wicks may be proving me wrong. Ive seen no reports of drops, and I have seen posts almost every day saying he is looking good.

One bad thing- the pass to him today that got posted looked like yet another hospital ball against a real opponent.

One more good thing, 2 out of the last 3 practices were more positive days for the offense. Today sounded decent, 2 days ago sounded actually good. Hopefully its coming around.

It doesn’t take much to connect the dots of the Hurts leaked stories and Paganetti randomly leaving the Eagles

My God. QB isn’t the only position on offense.

In 2021 Dak had the #1 offense in yards & points, the #7 defense. They choked & lost the Wild Card round.

In 2023 Dak again had the #1 offense in yards & points, this time the #5 defense. They choked & lost the Wild Card round again. CeeDee Lamb had 1,749 yards. Pollard a 1,000 yard rusher.

Dak's had talent around him with good O line, receiver & RB, plus top defenses. He's a choke artist.

Vic Fangio on Jordan Davis as a pass rusher: "It first started towards the end of the '24 season. He got in better shape. He's a much better pass rusher in the 330s than what he was. That, to me, is the biggest thing. He's 6'6", right? What is he? 6-5-- We'll call it 6-6 for discussion. He needs to be 6-6 when it's to his advantage, and he needs to bend his knees and be 6-3 when he needs to be. When you're in better shape, weighing less, that's easier to do and you can do it for a longer time. That's what's made his game take off."

lol

Notes from Wednesday’s work for the Eagles:

O

• Hurts was sharp both pre and post snap. Back foot hit and the ball was out.

• Markel Bell does an excellent job of taking away angles in the ground game — just a massive man that moves extremely well. No pads but he stood out today.

• Good to see Drew Kendall get reps with 1s and battled with Davis/Carter. Good feet/hands. Plays w excellent depth.

• RBs in space — get used to it.

• The release package from Darius Cooper is awesome to watch. Consistently mixes up his tempos to DBs.

D

• Minimal wasted movement from Jeremiah Trotter Jr — he was everywhere v the run today.

• Michael Carter popped — smooth athlete that worked from varying alignments and positions today.

• Tariq Castro-Fields had a few nice reps in 11-11. INT on Cole Payton & a PBU on Eli Stowers.

Eagles new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion says Jalen Hurts is super hungry learning the new offense. He is a capable learner. He knows how to take notes and ask questions. He’s a studier. He’s the last one on the field every day working on footwork. "It’s been awesome. It’s been a great partnership. He’s only gonna get more and more comfortable from there.”

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but we had both Dillion Thieneman AND McNeil Warren drop right into our laps those first two rounds .... and pffftt.

I wasnt mad about the Stowers pick later on because I knew our TE room was dookie and he was basically the second best TE in the class, but still...

Still havent learned to not fixate on measurables eh?

The upside is there, and so was the college production. Obviously the chances of becoming an all-pro are exceedingly low for any player, but he does have elite upside as a receiving target.

Ertz wasn't exactly a killer blocker.

Right… and he never became a great blocker, either.

Hopefully he proves me wrong, but I wouldn’t expect it. It’s not like when you watch him play he’s a guy playing like his hair is on fire relentlessly hitting DEs and LBs with violent intent.

That’s just not Stower’s mental makeup. Throw him 100 passes and he might be a top 3 receiving threat at TE though.

Right, but pass rush moves can be taught. The mentality and tenacity to block really can’t be. That’s something you either have or you don’t, and I don’t think he has it.

He wasn't drafted to be a blocker. He's a H-back, you hope to teach him how to hit LBs in space, you're an idiot if you leave him alone against a DE at the LOS. (something they did too often with Calcaterra, who can't block in-line).

Ertz was basically a big slow WR who ran good routes. Stowers is faster and more athletic than Ertz, but not nearly as polished. Hasn't spent as much time at TE, so hopefully there's upside.

The fact that they even are doing this is ridiculous to me. NFL just wants to alienate their current fan base to chase other $. Nothing like a team's 'home opener' being on the road... on a different continent... with literally more than half a day of air travel one way. I hated it when the Eagles went to Brazil, I hated when the NFL did it again the following year, and I hate this one too. NFL is making being a fan a much harder job than it used to be.

Yeah, they are making a mistake and that's coming from someone who's lived abroad for a couple of decades. The novelty of an NFL game overseas once or twice a year is good. Each team only needs to make a trip about once a decade at that rate and suddenly it becomes a real novelty that is kind of fun. Having home openers and loads of games across the world just isn't going to be a positive. Part of the reason people from other countries tune in is to see American culture on display. That goes away in the international games where the atmosphere is not at all the same. I don't think those games do much to raise interest to be honest. One thing that did raise interest was when the NFL had a league in Europe. Several teams drew well and that created a following that spilled over into NFL interest.

Really isn't leaving any TE one on one against a DE just hoping for the best territory? To me TE run game blocks are the priority and then he needs to be competent at double teams and having awareness to stifle blitzers

Which is the only reason I’d be open to Ertz this year. Essentially as a coach for Stowers.

Managed to get some tickets for UK game. If anyone one needs some they've released more on the ticketmaster site
