I thought about this before, if the Eagles get to the trade deadline, I am guessing the two positions they go look for our safety and wide receiver. And I don’t think it would be because a lemon didn’t play well. I think it would be because wick didn’t pan out the way they thought and they need another outside wide receiver. I kind of look at a team like Jacksonville, who has a plethora of wide receivers as a team that you probably could get that guy. Somebody like Brian Thomas jr I could see being traded at the deadline and somebody the Eagles would consider. I believe there were rumors tied to them and Thomas during that draft.

that said i actually like wick and his upside. His issue has always been catching the ball. Everything else if you talk to Green Bay fans and you listen to everybody who watched Green Bay film, it’s always about him catching the football. If he can put that together, I think they’re gonna be fine. But if he can’t, that’s when I think they’re gonna have to go out and get a wide receiver.

At safety I think it’s kind of self-explanatory. If Makuba can’t stay healthy (doesn’t make a jump in development) or Epps isn’t good enough they’ll make a move. Epps was solid last year but it is different having to do it for 17 weeks as opposed to just half a season. Carter I just don’t see him as a starter. I think he’s fine as a back up.

They both were drafted at the virtually the same spot in the draft by the same team. They both seem to be reaches because that team was in need of a WR. Neither one of them stand out on film or look to project well on the outside in the NFL.

Glad I can help.

Lemon wasn't a reach

And Reagor wasn't mocked as a slot only guy. The most comped players for him coming out were DJ Moore and Steve Smith who were mostly outside guys. I saw some Randall Cobb comps too so it wasn't universal, but majority cited his "outside speed" as a "pro".

So really all you have is that the eagles drafted them in a similar spot. Otherwise they're totally different players and scenarios.

Well instead of Lemon and Stowers - we had Dillion Thieneman and McNeil Warren drop into our laps .. AND WE DID NOTHING !!! Bunch of BS

McNeil is a guy i liked a lot. I wanted him just due to the uncertainty at the safety position. Epps isn’t a long term solution and who knows at this stage of his career if he can be a viable starter for 17 weeks. He was ok last year but he also didn’t start all 17 games. Issue with Makuba is he got hurt last year. He is still going to have some ups and downs. But if you had him and McNeil your safety position if everything worked out would’ve been set for a multiple years. Actually think they compliment each other well. That said still think a strong chance they trade for a safety at the deadline. (Nevermind as delpit signed an extension on July 30)

He definitely wasn’t a reach by consensus. He was top ranked wr by a few analyst. Really I heard a few comparing him after the Eagles drafted him to st. Brown. Imo i don’t think he’s going to be a bust but i also don’t see him being like elite like st. Brown either. I think he winds up being solid.

I made the post above, if the Eagles are in the market for another wide receiver, I think it’s more because wick (or guys behind him) didn’t pan out the way they thought. now they wanna go out and get another guy to play opposite of devonta while having smith, lemon on the field.

Browns are interesting as have McNeil-Warren and delpit but they aren’t going to be good and delpit is a free agent at the end of the year.

Delpit signed a three year contract extension so doubt he goes anywhere.

Good use of the word Smarmy

You can cite draft projections all you want. Fact is, the Eagles reached for Reagor because they were desperate for a WR and he never really showed the ability to play on the outside in the NFL. He was a gadget when they needed more. Fast forward to 2026, the Eagles were in a similar spot where they felt like they needed to draft a WR with the pending AJB move. They got a guy who is just "meh”, to me, regardless of his Belitnkoff award. But alas, he’s been projected to be a slot guy and possibly used as a gadget whenever he’s ready to go.

My original point stands. He’s more Reagor than he is JJ.

I must’ve missed where he signed the three-year extension. But you’re right I didn’t even know he did. I knew he was coming up on being a free agent so he must’ve recently signed that.

$50M a year for that bum Stroud is a massive overpay - there's no planet where he's sniffing 70

A reach is when you draft a Jonathan Harris in the first round when he was projected to be a third round pick. Lemon was picked where he was rated. The Steelers obviously felt the same way. He may flop, he may be great, but at the time of the draft he wasn't a reach.

Agreed but in green, so agreend

The WR I could see them taking a chance on in a trade is Marvin Harrison Jr if he underwhelming again in Arizona to start the season.

Based on what exactly? Jefferson was taken the same year at virtually the same pick so not there. Jefferson was also projected to be a higher pick (like Lemon), profiled as a better route runner but with less explosion (like Lemon) and had much better college production (like Lemon) and primarily played in the slot at the college level (like Lemon)

Neither are great comparisons but Reagor is a significantly worse one for many reasons.

The part about the Lemon pick which made me feel good about it is that the Steelers were literally about to select him before Howie jumped in. Pittsburgh has had a good track record of drafting receivers over the years with good selections. It’s obviously no guarantee, but if they liked him I think that says a lot about his prospects.

He was showing Lemons draft projections.

Pretty sure he knows, he's just doing the strawman to prevent having to admit he's wrong. Lemon is way closer to JJ than Reagor in this silly comparison and it's not close. That's not to say Lemon will be anything like that, in fact he's more likely to be in between those too, because that's the majority of NFL receivers.

Sounds like 10 personnel to me, is that what the base offense is?

The story is that they drafted Reagor because they felt Justin Jefferson would be redundant to Ertz in the middle of the field. That though process is now banned in the building.

Where we were picking in the 1st, I would've been excited to grab Thieneman. Iheanachor made sense to me, or Malachi Lawrence.

Interesting thoughts. Thanks for sharing.

How often is there a decent young WR available at the trade deadline. Seems like Hollywood and Elijah Moore are the type of guys who would be trade pieces at the deadline. And we got both.

Fair. Maybe I feel it was a reach because of the reach for need by the Eagles. Poor choice of words I’ll relent on that.
