I would expect the ACC and Big 12 will follow suit in the next few days. Big win for student athletes and college sports.

Does it make it better for the student-athlete? NCAA now limits players to five years. NFL eligible after year three, baseball eligible after high school, NBA after one year, NHL same, and soccer doesn’t even seem to have an age limit. So a kid decides to give professional sport after becoming eligible, realizes no future there or that they are not ready, but having eligibility year(s) left. Why not let that kid play the sport he loves and work further on a degree? Now the cutoff would have to be established as to when they can’t come back, how pro is too pro. NIL money really has taken away the amateur from college sports. I would also like to see an NCAA rule against a returning athlete not causing a scholarship to be withdrawn from another student athlete.

Only took 20 years for them to finally have the balls to do this.

Some of those are pretty subjective though

Looking into kicking competitions around NFL training camps. There is a tight one in NY Giants training camp with Ben Sauls and Dominic Zvada. Sauls came up last year for Giants and was perfect in their last 3 games (8-8 FG & 7-7 EP). A left footer and strong leg out of Pitt. Zvada is younger, out of Michigan (Big 10 kicker of the year in 2024) and has made 70 out of 74 in training camp and perfect in the games with a strong leg as well. Both kickers have been perfect in preseason games.

So when people come on here saying there's really no one out there so why bother. There's plenty of options, just like when Dicker was bouncing around looking for the right opportunity. I'm taking the loser of this competition and putting them on the practice squad Day 1. I prefer Elliott feel a little heat for his job here and not to be too comfortable. It reminds me of Siposs situation a couple years ago. Just about anyone would be an upgrade. And indeed Mann was.

I am open to almost any opinion regarding the matter, here are mine:

1. A lot of athletes that leave early aren't in school for a degree to begin with, they are there to get a payday, either NIL money, getting signed by an NFL team, OR both. There is nothing wrong with that, at all, some kids come from families that grew up without, they need the money for a better life. However, if you quit a job to start a new job with a raise and you don't perform during your 90 probationary period, more times than not you aren't going to be able to go back to your previous employer and get back the job you quit.

2. I think the NFL gets it right by making kids wait three years. The sport is much more physical than any other sport and the players bodies at a young age need more time to develop to withstand that physicality.

3. Pro is pro, if you go to an NFL team and spend all offseason with that team and get cut that is definitely too pro.

4. Agree on the NIL money, that is probably the biggest mistake made by the NCAA that added to this whole mess. Being able to "buy" a roster has no place in college athletics. The college athletes needed more money than a scholarship provided, but paying millions to athletes isn't the answer. Pay them a solid "wage" to make life VERY confortable while at school, but not millions. The NCAA is simply too greedy and has made ridiculous money off of schools and athletes for far too long so I understand how things got to where they are.

5. Agree about lost scholarships if that were to happen. Athletes losing scholarships for returning "scholarship" athletes to use the system as a training ground to again enter the draft/FA is just wrong.

6. The biggest issue I have with returning players that failed at the pro level after leaving early is that you have players that have been working their tail off all offseason preparing and earning a job. They earn the job, and then along comes a returning "student" (former pro) that got cut in Aug/Sept that will take the job away from that young adult, I just cannot get behind that at all.

I am certain there are situations and caveats that logically counter my opinions, and thats all they are, my opinions. Some may agree, some may not. Maybe no one agrees with any of my gibberish 😆. There simply has to be a better way, I am disappointed in the direction college football has been going for quite a while now. There always seems to be controversy...AP rankings to determine champions, playoff format, transfer windows, it seems as though there is always something that has to be better/different and stability/consistency has been lost. It's no longer the college football I grew up following, I am not against progress, it just needs to be better thought out and executed.

DAL has the same situation going on. Mingo has had a great camp but Camden Brown came out of nowhere and is pushing for that 5th spot. GP, Cee Dee, Flo, Turpin, Mingo/Brown. If they can find a way to keep Brown he may have a bright future, Mingo should get the nod since he has the experience imo.

I really like what Cooper brings but, Moore can punt return and has had a pretty good camp. Cooper is "starting” gunner opposite Ringo per the Beats. I think one or both of Moore and Covey make the PS and one is activated each week. I am with Matt on the LS too. Could easily see the PR and LS activated from the PS. Thing is, who is active on game day. Can’t see six WRs being active.

Right? At least he hasn't drafted 3 busts from the same school in the last 10 years. Here's looking at Big Blue - Taco, Mazi, and likely Schoon. Barham looks to be the guy to break the trend, we'll see.

Have a strict pro-bowl with only original nominations and no alternatives, do a two to three hour clip show of highlights of the season for each player by NFL films with commentary mixed in, and boom there you go. Better than the pro bowl games.

Dark horse possibility: Stowers to IR instead of either IPP guy. TE3 to be acquired later.

Also, I think the Eagles will be watching really closely how the Rams utilize Terrance Ferguson this season. Apparently he’s slimmed down and will be playing multiple WR spots and TE. One way or the other, I think Stowers either needs to add a bunch of weight or lose it. He’s just a waste right now.

Finally, waste of time. It could be fun to do a mid season break and the previous year's pro bowlers do like fan engagements, light competition (think throwing accuracy type things, but for any position. I wanna see if Lane can throw better than joe burrow), maybe a madden tournament or something.

Every team would have their bye that week, so no one is screwed by an early bye or benefiting from a late bye. NFL makes more TV money because all teams play every weekend before and after the bye

Yes. This season that limit is two … Greenard and Tucker Large, although Large may be IR rather than PUP.

Tucker Large has been physically unable to perform since before TC began. Given his Non-Football Injury designation he may not technically be PUP.
