They guaranteed Missy his contract this year (shaved off $1M off base salary to save a little cap room) and there are dead cap hits this year and next. I'm over that excuse for a bad kicker. I can't remember the last time I watched a pro bowl. So many alternates from players saying no plus simply getting the pro bowl because you're an alternate has watered it down to mud

They don’t have him on Injured Reserve, but rather on the NonFootball Injury list. He was waived on May 5th. They didn’t put Greenard on the PUP until July 29th. So Large has been physically unable for even longer than Greenard.

The answer was to always change it to some sort of skills challenge instead like they used to do back in the 90s/early 2000s where they would have guys like Favre, Kordell Stewart, Marino, and McNabb do a longest throw contest. I would watch Mahomes, Allen, and Herbert go at that. Or a fastest man challenge to see who would win in a 40 yard dash. But ego and injury concerns won’t allow that.

Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio effectively offered an update when asked for the latest on the safety battle between Marcus Epps and Michael Carter II — the Eagles’ most contentious position battle in training camp.

"It is close,” Fangio said. "Michael has been doing a good job back there. It’s just all new to him and we need to get him more exposure, which is hard to do, but I do think Michael eventually can do it.”

Translation: Epps has won the job.

It’s been a long time coming for the 30-year-old safety, who worked his way back from ACL surgery last year before getting cut by the Patriots at the end of training camp.

Fangio’s rationale makes sense, too. Epps, who was a key starter during the Eagles’ 2022 Super Bowl run, has a much lengthier resumé than Carter’s. The former has 49 starts in 94 career games with three interceptions and 315 career tackles, while Carter has 26 starts in 73 games with two interceptions and 233 tackles.

Time will tell if general manager Howie Roseman makes an additional move at safety, which is widely considered the thinnest position on the Eagles roster. But for now, the job is Epps’ — which "means everything” to him.

Corner is the thinnest position. Seems everybody could use another corner. Last year they traded Booker for Bennett thinking they needed another corner and Bennett has been a disaster. Don't know where they can come up with somebody decent.

It's definitely a money thing to cut Elliott. Not sure about how it works for PS call ups but I can't imagine it being a huge problem money wise. The issue would be what do you do when you exhaust all the PS elevations, because then you have to either cut elliott (money) or cut someone else at the bottom of the roster to keep two kickers (will never happen)

The pickings are slim, a decent backup is likely a CB2 most places and if you had one would really want to lose that depth before the shooting starts.

Or…they do the smart thing. Add a week to the season. Week 9 is the new Pro Bowl/All Star Break. All bye weeks split between 8 & 10 of the season. Now every team has 2 weeks off in a row. No more getting screwed by an early or late bye. It only makes too much sense though.
