All those limp throws where he isn’t stepping in after the overthrows in the 1st game and the Covey miss… then he throws a quacker outside the numbers because he’s off platform, just a bad habit to get into. The bad mechanics, hesitancy and shaky decision making is rough combination.

The wr corps yardage totals this year are going to be some of the lowest we’ve seen in many years. I think we are going to see a lot of throws to the backs, specifically Tank and Shipley. They may use Lemon in that role too to get him involved.

I can see why they brought in Dalton. Only issue is they failed to scout just how cooked Dalton is.

McKee has two strikes. One, he’s not good. That’s forgivable considering most backup QBs aren’t. Two, he’s a radically different kind of qb than Hurts. If your backup is going to suck, they at least need to be a crappy mold of your starter. The whole offense needs to change if McKee goes in.

My take on the QB2 situation was that Mannion didn't like McKee for the job. Howie didn't want to give up on McKee, but agreed to bring in a guy for Mannion and find out whom was best for the role. Both have failed to demonstrate that they are.

Re the backup QB, Dalton is done and will be cut. McKee stays as QB2. The rookie stays for now. They should look for a vet QB to sign, preferably someone played for the OC before and is familiar with his system. When that happens, bump the rookie to PS. As a mid-round pick and showed very little in pre-season, he is safe to pass thru waiver.

So it looks like we're not sure about QB2, Lemon, Stowers, and secondary depth. (I excluded Grenard because it really isn't related to roster construction.)

IMO, Manion's play-calling once the season starts is the biggest unanswered question.

I think we can keep 2 QBs on the roster this year on the initial 53. Payton hardly played, and when he did most of it was bad. He can definitely be save on our practice squad and if we lose him, there may be better options.

To be fair, I thought this immediately after the draft too. I think Concepcion is gonna be really good and can play on the outside.

I’m worried Lemon is just a slot or a guy who plays in condensed formations.

I agree with the to be fair thing because one rough preseason game after returning from an injury means nothing. Not fair to pile on.

But for someone who had a low opinion of his talent and upside prior to him being drafted by the eagles…seeing him on the field and how a small guy who isn’t fast generally looks on the eye test…it’s not going to discourage the original opinion.

Kupp, St Brown, Welker, Edelman all played for very different QBs than Lemon will. Theres also a reason that, despite all their success and how "worth it” they would have been…none of them were first round picks. Except Lemon.

It’s really hard to project success for that mold of wr. Requires a highly refined skill set molded with the right system and qb.

First round just isn’t where those talents go.

He has a really weird build. He’s solidly built but he’s stubby.

I know everyone calls me negative and I realize Lemon is far far better, but the build reminded me of seeing Reno Mahe out there.

Just to be clear, I’m not calling Lemon a bust. I just question the upside and if he’s worthy of the draft investment, but there are plenty of smarter people than me who had Lemon as a top 15 player in the draft.

Certainly possible. I didn’t love this WR class though I did like Bell a lot and I did like Concepcion. But the Eagles don’t evaluate WR all that well. I think those people who said AJ Brown is addition by subtraction are going to be in for a rude awakening this season. I think the WRs are gonna be pretty rough outside of Devonta and I haven’t felt good about the offense all offseason and nothing I’ve seen or heard so far has changed my mind about it.

Feels like they are trying to hide Payton and not showcase him to other teams to get him to the PS.

McMullen and others have said that every time they’ve watched Lemon in practice he gets zero separation. Saw it in action last night.

Idk if this is rust, hammy, or what but it’s concerning given that he’s not fast, strong, or big so he doesn’t have much going for him if he can’t separate. No panicking yet obviously but there hasn’t been a single positive report about him yet. If he doesn’t show anything by Oct then Howie will need to make a move there.
