20 hours ago20 hr 3 minutes ago, greend said:He played better than I thought. Need to work on those board handsHe practiced only a few times and two of those were super light practices apparently. I think he'll be a fine slot in a few weeks. We'll see. Way too much 'I know it's early but...' stuff. It is early. Period
20 hours ago20 hr People trying to base evaluations on the offense, in a preseason where the offense is vanilla and has no starters playing is dumb. Devanta is a game changer when he plays and will let everyone slot into their roles seamlessly. And a true running game, as I anticipate here with more play action is going to be sweet. We've gotten some glimpses in practice. Of course, there's been injuries to 2 of the top 3 WRs to make it harder to assess the capabilities here. And 2 stiffs like McKee and Dalton, who are statues are not representative of anything that's coming here. It's a nothing burger, til we see the full offense (hopefully healthy) for first several weeks and give them time to gain their identity.

20 hours ago20 hr Well, here’s the good and the bad I saw last night. The caveat is that the Eagles targeted seeing the players in stress situations. That means DBs on islands. Targeted skill players that detract a bit from QB play, no scheme and very vanilla.Lemon, like Stowers in the last PS game looked like he is still thinking and not playing. That’s actually not a bad thing if the light goes on. Then the routes become more natural.Fred is likely OL8. I think Morris makes it. Not sold on who OL10 is. There were plays where Williams played better than Fred but when he fails in his anchor, it’s bad. Neither Ojukwu or Hinton showed much. Thought Majors didn’t look bad. Jordan didn’t impress for all his experience. That new C, ugh. Did Lampkin sit because of the stinger or because he has made team. If so, he’s OL10.Thought Ringo, McWilliams and Carter all looked okay. Sam was having a good game. Good instincts. Gushiken got exposed. Pulley seems late in getting there but may have potential. Wade made the PS. How have Thomas and Bolden lasted this long in the NFL. Thomas can’t tackle, can’t cover without grabbing. His performance in PS has been ugly.IPP guys. Great athleticism. Absolutely no football IQ or instincts. Bernard can’t figure out a double, struggles with gap assignment, and can’t seem to figure out how to tackle. Pretty sure he can make it to the PS. Weru plays like a rugby player. No football technique and chases but does not get to the ball. Vic sees through the eyes of a DC. Have to believe that other teams do as well.@HazletonEagle ’s green DT, Wilson, looked decent. Enough for a sixth DT spot? But definitely PS. Now he’s a failed OL new to DT. If he could have blocked like Blay, he might have made it as an IOL. On that long run by the Bengals’ sixth string RB, Blay absolutely obliterated four Eagles defenders. Only problem is Blay was a DT for the Birds, not a Bengals IOL. Hall can’t seem to not get upright. He plays too tall. PS for him. Robinson is DT5 and may be Ojomo’s replacement next year.Chance Campbell was a man amongst boys. You could see how tha game was a little fast at times for Lawson but he has potential. PS for him. Not sure Chance makes the 53 but close.Epenesa plays like a 3/4 DE. Favors the inside gap, gets trapped by the OT and loses seal on the edge. For me, he’s a place holder until Greenard can play. Speaking of which, moderate pec strain is four to eight weeks. He would be about at week five or six at worst. (The Beats don’t say when but that he injured it lifting weights at the Eagles facility. Since he was rehabbing the shoulder, could have been anytime in the off period). Hence, if three weeks away PUP kind of makes sense although would be more than eight weeks in total (cut down Sunday with the season a couple weeks away. If he is only a couple weeks away from full go, then take him off PUP and onto the 53. The other alternate is a tear in which case PUP may not be long enough. After Pierce lost his helmet, they sat him. Thought that was a little early. Allowed Steele to add tape. Steele gives me Woodhead vibes. Remember how for two years playing the Jets in the last PS game, Woodhead lit up the Eagles? Then he got a chance on the roster and did okay for a bit.Danny Gray may have made the PS last night. Probably add Covey and Moore trying to get one of them. Hated the Lemon muff on the punt. Can’t say much positive about the WR and TEs from last night.I will read @FranklinFldEBUpper ’s ST blog for the full assessment. Good that Elliott, made, both FG attempts. That he kicked both within a couple of feet of the uprights isn’t ideal.
20 hours ago20 hr I'd keep Morris over Bernard if it came to a spot. He actually looks like a player who can develop in a year and they will be turning over the OL to cheaper players to pay for the defense.
20 hours ago20 hr Response from TATErs about Makai Lemon after playing zero NFL regular season snaps:"He looks like Reno Mahe""He doesn't get any seperation""He can't play outside""He's no Cooper Kupp or Amon-Ra St. Brown even if he is a slot only player""I would have drafted so and so over him""I'm not calling him a bust yet BUT....."Never change TATErs
20 hours ago20 hr Lemon was a Mannion pick, good, bad or indifferent. Maybe even Stowers. Go back and look at the draft room video and see Howie and Mannion lock eyes and smile at each other. It tells me Mannion wanted Lemon and Howie delivered.EJ Smith has both McKee and Dalton on his final 53. That would be nuts. Not saying it won't happen, just that it's nuts if it does. They going to rotate as #2 and #3 each game?

19 hours ago19 hr The "most knowledgeable fan base" still overreacts to preseason.Lemon is a rookie who dealt with injury, had a few practices and 1 preseason game with a young inexperienced OC figuring out if he likes to call plays from booth or sidelines, and a backup QB everyone says was terrible. Way too early to evaluate him. We just don't know yet.

I think it was a consensus pick based on their draft board.

He will be in the slot or play the Z in condensed sets as well as be used as the motion man. A lot of other offenses don’t rely condensed sets and motion. Lemon would have been a brutal fit in last year’s O.

19 hours ago19 hr Can see Howie adding 5 players.1 CB- McWilliams and Jones are on the bubble. Maybe one of them starts season on roster, but not both.1 Safety- There's 3 legitimate guys, and one is a hybrid safety/slot in Carter. The rest can be placed on PS.1 OT- Not sure we are content at the Tackle position. Did Johnson or Williams earn their spot this training camp? Can see an upgrade with a guy that Mannion may be familiar with, to round out this bunch.1 TE-Stowers is likely starting season on IR. Can take a flyer on someone else in interim. Can hide GC on PS.1 Strictly Special teams player- most likely a an upgrade to KR/PR.So all these 53 man projections are fun to do, but far from being accurate, as bottom 10% will likely see movement.

Howie has hinted at that in the past.
