The weird dynamic here is does Lurie approve of Ertz breaking Carmichael's long standing receptions record for team? Sounds lame to me. But, he did leave the team with some discord a few years back.

What could Steele have done to make the team? He must feel like he didn’t even get evaluated for a try out. 😆

Like huh?

I didn't see this when I posted mine :)

Certainly possible. I didn’t love this WR class though I did like Bell a lot and I did like Concepcion. But the Eagles don’t evaluate WR all that well. I think those people who said AJ Brown is addition by subtraction are going to be in for a rude awakening this season. I think the WRs are gonna be pretty rough outside of Devonta and I haven’t felt good about the offense all offseason and nothing I’ve seen or heard so far has changed my mind about it.

This is exactly where I am with the WR's outside of Devonta....I have been trying to be optemistic about it but ummm.....I am just not.....

McKee has two strikes. One, he’s not good. That’s forgivable considering most backup QBs aren’t. Two, he’s a radically different kind of qb than Hurts. If your backup is going to suck, they at least need to be a crappy mold of your starter. The whole offense needs to change if McKee goes in.

That was my question about McKee. Any sort of dual threat he is not.

Lemon is a terrific fit for the Shanahan/LaFleur/McVay offense. I don’t think he’s a great fit as an outside WR in other systems.

He will be in the slot or play the Z in condensed sets as well as be used as the motion man. A lot of other offenses don’t rely condensed sets and motion. Lemon would have been a brutal fit in last year’s O.

That is why I said he is a Mannion pick. I believe Mannion pushed Howie to make the pick. Nobody will dictate to Howie who to pick, but Howie wanted to give his new OC the tools he needed. Good bad or indifferent, Howie owns the pick.

IMO, Concepcion can do all the same things Lemon can do except with a lot

More speed and ability to beat press coverage. I think he’d have been a fantastic fit.

You fail to bring up the fact that he drops a lot of passes.

Understanding the Drop Concerns

  • College Track Record: Concepcion was charted with around 19 drops across his college career (roughly a 6-7% drop rate). Analysts note that many occurred on inside-breaking routes where he anticipated hits from linebackers or safeties, rather than routine uncontested open-field drops. [1, 2]

  • OTA and Practice Reports: Early reports of drops during Cleveland Browns offseason workouts amplified fan concerns, though team reporters and general manager Andrew Berry have downplayed the issue as standard rookie adjustment and minor concentration lapses. [1, 2]

Former USC wide receiver Makai Lemon had only 3 to 4 drops during his entire college career, giving him an elite drop rate of roughly 1.6% to 2.8% across 137 total receptions.

Yeah, he does drop some passes. I believe he can fix it, since a lot of them were simple concentration drops.

Good point. 6.8% drop rate compared to Lemon at 2.8%. Then you would have Wicks and Concepcion dropping too many passes. If Lemon is an ace at the slot, then I am good. Dominating the middle of the field is big in this offense.

Lemme ask you this: How much does that drop rate matter compared to having the ability to win on the outside vs press coverage? Do you believe it’s easier to improve your hands or to win outside against corners when you don’t have as much room for two-way routes to help you out?

We couldn't fix Quez Watkins's hands. I have PTSD with that problem on the outside. And Agholor. Don't think having to fix Wicks & Concepcion at the same time is a good idea.

Lemon can do both. He’s had zero NFL opportunities yet.

Not great the Lemon muffed that punt, it’s one thing that he isn’t an immediate WR3 but it would’ve been nice if he could’ve locked down the Covey role while he gets upto speed.

What's wrong with Covey playing "the Covey role"? Why does everyone want to get rid of a really good punt returner, especially when we don't have anyone else who can do the job at an acceptable level (other than perhaps DeJean and Devonta)?
