There needs to be a special exception for international players like that to be on the practice squad but untouchable for 2-3 seasons. Teams need years to develop & teach them.

Howie will be making moves. Example last year he traded for Bigsby after the regular season started.

Just very disappointed in general. I know this isn't final but they could have saved four spots and instead kept Dalton, Jenkins, Underwood and didn't IR Stowers with the right to return. I would LOL if somebody told me that Dalton, Jenkins and Underwood would be claimed.

Yeah, it's not like they can be expected to go from zero football to making a 53. There are PS spots but a team just wasted a summer working with them to possibly lose them. The players spent time learning a system (along with football) to have to start over. If they are serious about international players they need to do what you said.

Howie had a bad day today! Dang. But will reserve final judgement to see what trades or pickups he makes. There's definitely some dreck left to eliminate from the roster is the only good news. Can chop Jenkins. Can chop Dalton. A CB or 2. Can chop the LS. So, I see a swing of up to 5 roster spots changing. Think he adds an OL still. Hopefully Majors and Williams make it to PS. Weru and Bernard are slightly surprising, but they were light years away and I trust Fangio there.

As always, some of these guys are placeholders. I actually kinda like EJ Jenkins, certainly over Calcaterra because of theoretical upside as a blocker due to his frame, but I’d be shocked if he’s there come week 1.

Wonder if the Rams try to F us with either of the IPP guys. Bet they’ve held a grudge over how we picked up Lampkin last year.

Offseason has been nothing short of a disaster by Howie. He will make another move or two but between the top 2 picks of the draft, Greenard injury, the QB/TE depth, S is lacking, cutting draft picks. Feels like a while since we’ve had one of these.

You will all hate me for saying this, but I think this is their least talented initial 53 since 2021.

Small note - interesting they released Andre Sam rather than placing him on IR

Lampkin was a legitimate player. He's just small. Theses guys are TOTALLY different

I don't see any reason why they didn't IR Stowers with a right to return. He isn't going to play the first four games and may not play any meaningful snaps all year. Greenard better play (and play well) for at least three of the first four games otherwise he should have also been IRd with a right to return. I am telling you Howie's ego got in the way with Dalton, Greenard and Stowers.

I listened and then looked and saw what Vic saw.

Keeping 3 bad QBs as part of your final 53 seems crazy AF. None of them probably play this year. I was willing to keep 2. And then keep either Payton or Dalton as a PS player. This is where Howie loses me. Burns picks on the back up to the back up plan every year. From Howell to Dalton etc. If they were any good that would be different.

Worried about losing Bernard and Weru. Risky move by Howie. Don't like it.

I think the bottom of the roster. Say spots 46 - 53 leaves a lot to be desired,

In that you have young guys who are unplayable (Stowers), an over-the-hill extra QB (Dalton) and a bunch of arguably PS-level players (Jenkins, Moore), guys that will play but could have been stashed on PS and elevated (Underwood, Jones)

At the end of the day, its the just overall lack of creativity to protecting younger talent and exposing them to waivers that I Howie of old would have found a way around.

Disagree.

You can’t dress all 53 players, and by definition the bottom of your roster is made up of JAGs.

Finding a replacement level player for your 52nd best player is easy. Finding a replacement level prospect for Bernard or Weru is difficult.

I would have rolled with at least one of them on the 53. Probably Weru and IR’d Bernard.

Bernard can't even tackle. You don't put someone like that on the 53. You guys are overboard on those 2

I think the biggest gripe I have about this roster, same as last years roster, is that there has been no real return specialists. If Covey gets claimed, they are screwed unless they get lucky and a guy falls in their laps from these cuts.

Xavier Gipson is probably available. Betting on a guy who fumbles all the time might work.

We needed those IR spots for Jakorian Bennett and Grant Calcaterra because reasons

Correct. He was released not waived.

I really don’t even dislike Covey. If he’s our guy, then why keep cutting him and playing roulette?

Clearly they don’t value him very much, which doesn’t make much sense considering the lack of effort to upgrade him.

I mean, there was. So it’s probably not going back

You do if you think you can teach him. Just like Mailata couldn’t block yet he made the 53. If it’s a coachability issue then that’s a different matter, but I still think if you’re willing to draft a guy like him and bring him in then you need to commit to the 3 year project.
