Who’s to say they don’t IR Stowers tomorrow. They only had two designated to return tags for preseason.

They could but by doing it now they could have saved a roster spot (at least temporarily) on a developmental player. Using one on Bennett seems a waste as he was beyond bad last year. Guy has a lot of physical tools but can't cover anybody without using his hands. He was hurt last year (and again this year) and when he wasn't he was unplayable.

With the current KO rules the opportunity for any KOR to be great is pretty small.

JMO

Yeah that rule has been horrible for returns, but Id love to actually try for a great returner and see if we can have better success.

After looking at the roster I think the Eagles will miss AJ Brown more than they probably would like to admit.

Keeping 4 QBs is wild when neither Dalton or McKee looked like good backups. Just cut Dalton.

I am not necessarily seeing it....this is a totally different offense and I left the preseason seeing some encouraging things. If Saquon/Tank can reach a combined 60 or so receptions in space this season..the offense will be very special.

We could win a Super Bowl this year. We can’t waste roster spots on players who can’t help right now.

Not everyone dresses from the 53. It has better value to keep Weru safe on the 53 than some other bottom roster player who won't even dress on gamedays either. And honestly, Weru never looked lost and ineffective out there that I would think he is completely unplayable.

Why? The passing game was terrible last year. All they have to do is be in the top 22 to be better than they were last year with AJ.

They will.

Exactly. And even if the passing is just mediocre (like 16th) that would still be like 7 spots higher than last year.

LOL. I can’t imagine how they can replace his 11 yards per return career average. Impossible

You realize that Covey not being a great return guy strengthens my point, right?

Neither being good enough beat out the other to give you confidence they are a quality #2 out so then keeping both is some backwards as thinking.

I don't think some of you are paying attention....it appears the overwhelming majority of teams are currently holding onto their full stable of QB's...as others have said ...there is a giant game of chicken going on with the QBs. Everyone is waiting to see who blinks first...

Was out just when they made the moves. Anyway this feels even less settled than usual. I think they cut both IPP today because they’d learn who got through waivers rather than people the cuts from waiver claims. I don’t think all 4 QBs will stick. I don’t think Jenkins will stick either and MacWilliams is iffy based on waiver claim

Howie will be making moves. Example last year he traded for Bigsby after the regular season started.

The Rams have five TEs on their final 53 but all can catch a football. Mundt and Jenkins can't catch anything. Jenkins has been hanging around for three years. No other team wants him. I do hope he is just a place holder. Without Latu and Steele I think this shows there won't be a fullback used. Ben Van Sumeren was cut by Buffalo so maybe he can be added to the practice squad.

The Rams last TE on the roster is better than our #2, pretty sad

Bernard can't even tackle. You don't put someone like that on the 53. You guys are overboard on those 2

Jordan Mailata sets an unrealistic standard for any international player that looks the part... and man, does Bernard LOOK the part. But, he's not a football player yet, he's just a physical specimen at this point.

As far as the TE's, I think the Eagles just bought themselves another week for the Stowers injury situation to play out...if he is able to go in Week 1... I would expect a shuffle in the TE room

Sean Murphy-Bunting is a CB I would bring in for a tryout. He started a few years for the Bucs and was just cut by the Cardinals. He has size and experience. Maybe he's washed maybe he isn't so bring him in for a looksee.

Both were awesome DLs. Let’s not discount the Steel Curtain or the Purple People Eaters. Heck as I think back, this Ram’s line might not even be in the top twenty.

No doubt. But, I just wanted to give the homage to our very own Gang Green... and then the Rams' best. Purple People Eaters might be the best ever.

You do realize that that punt return average is tied for the 19th highest average of all-time, right? He looks like he can break at any moment. He puts no fear in anyone in terms of going the distance, but if you are going to harp on something with Covey as the PR, it shouldn't be his average. He's 0.4 yards behind Devin Hester (who is tied for 11th all-time). Brian Mitchell had a 10.8 yard average and is tied for 37th, Desean Jackson's average was 9.4 and he ranks 137th!

So, a little respect for Covey. He's not scary out there to opponents, but that average that you scoff at is a top 20 all-time average.

Then I would question why they heck they wasted them on Bennett and Calcy....the risk / reward of exposing a potential young talent development player vs releasing those guys just doesn't stack up for me

They have a total of eight IR returns a season. Back when there were no PS tags and even after, it’s not uncommon to see a player initially on the 53 and then IR. Right now Bennett is probably better than any CB they cut so let’s say DB10, Calcaterra is better than any TE they cut and Jenkins, so arguably TE3 until Stowers is ready plus both have financial impacts, albeit small ones. Until I see how Howie plays this hand, who knows.

Regarding your final comment, that may be why he was kept and Latu was let go.

The comment that sticks in my head going back to the draft and the immediate fall out was something about him comparing to Taysom Hill... then I saw him on ST in the final preseason game on punt coverage. I didn't see him any other times, but that was enough to make me wonder. Checking the official snap counts, apparently he played 1 other ST snap besides that one.

Ravens waived Dom DeLuca. All he does is produce. Eagles should get him instead of Mondon.

The comparison isn’t to last year. It’s how they’d be this year with AJ vs without him.

Dalton for Wentz?

Most national reporters see Wentz as the Vikings #2 behind Murray, which means he’ll be starting quite a few games this year.

McCarthy was never going to be cut. The Vikings are looking for a trade partner to dump him off to. Likely the reason Brosmer was kept on the roster as the 4th QB.

Roseman just doesn't seem prepared for right now. Losing all of his close circle in the FO to outside hires has thrown him off his game.
