He puts no fear in anyone in terms of going the distance, but if you are going to harp on something with Covey as the PR, it shouldn't be his average. He's 0.4 yards behind Devin Hester (who is tied for 11th all-time). Brian Mitchell had a 10.8 yard average and is tied for 37th, Desean Jackson's average was 9.4 and he ranks 137th!So, a little respect for Covey. He's not scary out there to opponents, but that average that you scoff at is a top 20 all-time average.Yeah, averaging 11 yards per return when the league average is closer to 8 means that he's "earning" the Eagles about three yards per return above the average. If you guess that there are about three returns per game, that means he's getting about twelve yards per game above the average. Or roughly the equivalent of one first down. That's actually pretty significant in terms of "hidden yardage". And that doesn't even take into account the general "good decision making" and his reliability (yes I know he muffed a punt the other night but historically he's been good with the ball). I'd be pretty disappointed if Covey isn't fielding punts for the Eagles two weeks from today.

We were ALL less excited about this class in the immediate aftermath. Especially the value of some of the moves. Now, people are seeing Lemon as underwhelming, Stowers doesnt look like a football player at all, Cole Payton didnt look rosterable. Wisniewski was cut.... Markelle Bell is looking really good and so far thats it.Yes, too early to put the final grade on a draft class. But this one has had the Joe Douglas stink all over it from the beginning and early returns are worrying. Which is no surprise at all. Joe Douglas is terrible.I think you are too critical and probably give him too much credit for the draft picks. I think Barnett was very much a Howie pick. Reagor was a 2020 pick that, I think, was made to appease Doug. Douglas had left in 2019. You were the reason they drafted JJAW and Donnell Pumphrey. So, I am not as worried about his return.

Bernard had never experienced contact like occurs along the LOS in his life.Mailata also had elite measurables and explosiveness. Bernard's traits, while impressive, were never elite. It's not like 6-5 305 DTs are hard to find. His best attribute seems to have been his muscular definition. But really, how important is that for a football player? I'm not saying being strong isn't important but rather that being built like a Greek god doesn't really move the needle all that much. For what it's worth, I thought Bernard looked slow off the ball, played upright, didn't defeat blocks well, struggled to tackle, and overall really didn't look anything special. Unfortunately Ross Tucker poisoned the collective mind of the fans by praising him at every opportunity even when what he did wasn't even anything all that special.
12 hours ago12 hr Douglas might be why they kept Elijah Moore. Tho again I think that might be temporary. Let’s see where we are in 24 hours.

Howie likely has moves in mind but today's decisions were understandably unpopular.

He might be the reason for a lot of bad things every time he has a FO role with this team.
12 hours ago12 hr You're telling on yourself if you wanted them to keep Weru or especially Bernard. They're as close to being ready to play as I am.Not sure Howie called the league's bluff by holding onto all 4 QBs. It's more like he had a really **** hand, everyone in the league knows he has a really **** hand, and when Howie revealed his cards... a **** hand.TE is the position we need to address most. It seems we could use a good amount of 12 so TEs will play. Stowers can't play and EJ Jenkins may be off the roster tomorrow. A trade would be nice.Is Gabe Hall better than Ty Robinson?Thankfully we have Quinyon, Cooper, and Woolen because the guys behind them are scary bad. Maybe Jonathan Jones has something.

12 hours ago12 hr As someone who loves to watch a great defense, I'm hopeful he can be anywhere close to what he was. Hell, even at 50% of his best, he's still a problem for an OL.

11 hours ago11 hr If Douglas is such a bad talent evaluator, why he is still around and being heard to? I thought Howie is tight with the owner. Perhaps Douglas is even tighter?4 QBs puzzles me. Dalton does not have much trading value. If they find someone they like, it would take more than Dalton to make the trade. Some seasons back, receiving TE was valued. Now they seem to want blocking TE at the expense of receiving skills. Using a back-up OL for blocking purposes may be more effective. TEs are in the game mainly for catching passes. To use 12 personnel, you need more than one receiving TE. Ertz coming back?Pretty sure Howie is working something out in the next few days. We just don't know them yet.

Most of, if not all, the beats had us keeping at least one of the IPP guys on the active roster. Many of us did too. It didn’t happen, and if one of those guys gets claimed (Weru, most likely), there will be second guessing ad nauseam about the decision to cut him.

6 hours ago6 hr Lack of imagination (or whatever) is what bothers me. Take Jonathan Jones. He wasn't some highly prized FA, is 33 and missed the entire preseason and wasn't very good with the Skins last year. Wasn't subject to waivers. I doubt anybody else was dying to sign him. Cut him and bring him to the PS and activate him when necessary. That saves a roster spot for at least three weeks. The entire Dalton thing is a fiasco. I don't care if the recoup a 7th which is doubtful. He took snaps away from McKee and Payton. They draft a one year starting QB from a small school in the 5th and give him 27 preseason snaps. The worst thing possible now is keeping Dalton and trading McKee.

But I don’t like a lot of these moves. And that’s probably the case every year for a lot of fans including myself. We see players flash in camp or preseason and we root for them. But Dalton makes no sense. I didn’t like the trade for him and I like keeping him on the roster even less. He’s shown absolutely nothing. I don’t like keeping Ringo either. He’s shown nothing in multiple camps and years now. I don’t really like exposing Weru and Bernard to waivers but hey I guess if one or both make it through then it was the right move. I’m also not a Shipley guy and I’d have preferred they kept Pierce in all honesty. But hey Howie probably isn’t done and he’s likely to make a few trades to tweak this roster.

5 hours ago5 hr They lost the Dalton trade no matter what they get back for him, if anything. He took snaps away from McKee and Payton and there is still a debate about who exactly is the #2 QB. Nothing good came or will come out of this,

But, he's not a football player yet, he's just a physical specimen at this point.Yeah, I think I saw a graphic that showed only Mailata and one other guy actually made out to be NFL starters from that particular program.
5 hours ago5 hr 8 hours ago, Sack that QB said:The comparison isn’t to last year. It’s how they’d be this year with AJ vs without him.Well in order to miss something you would think the new version would have to be worse. If they can get more production out of the offense this year without AJ, than they did last year with him, I would think by definition they aren’t missing him. I get your point that maybe if he stayed he would thrive in this offense but that’s a different topic IMO. For me, if they can be an above average offense ( which I think they can) then it was well worth cutting out the weirdo cancer.
4 hours ago4 hr To each their own but I don’t like to live in the what ifs. It comes across as whiny tbh. Now what should they do now I’m all about. Curious what comes today and if not much then I expect Howie to make an in season trade. He can’t sit on the sidelines for too long.Mind you we say Howie’s been quiet and they’ve traded for Greenard and Wicks and traded away AJ
