Donald is going to put up good sack numbers, but I suspect it’ll be easy to run on him and he’ll need to be rotated a lot.

The rams line will be plenty dangerous. But the Donald hype has far exceeded what he’s actually going to do at this age.

I suspect he’ll offer far less in the pass rush, but I bet Ojomo, as an example, will be a better all around DT this year than Donald.

He was 32 when he retired and has been out of the League for 2 full season. There's not really any kind of comparison for this type of return. Reggie White retired for one season and came back as a 39 year old and put up 5.5 sacks. Warren Sapp was still very productive as a 34 year old DT but he did not ever retire. Sapp is a similar player to in terms of stats and to some extent play style but they are physically different. We will see how all of the pieces work together. My sense is that the best way to beat them will be to run them into the ground. The Eagles are as well suited as any team in the NFC to do that to them.

Suh?

Aaron Donald doesn't really scare me at age 35. They sure overpaid for that guy. But still have to admit the Rams on paper are the team to beat. But will most likely choke somewhere at the end. Stafford and Donald will fight for which fossil is more overhyped. Donald's last 2 seasons, are not exactly dominant. How many 35 year old defensive tackles are relevant, like ever?

I notice when evaluating Howie's offseason, I don't normally see this mentioned: he upgraded CB2 - last year's worst position - with Riq Woolen. People talk about WR and Greenard, but forget they added a great starting corner. That makes the overall secondary stronger.

Plus some of last year's moves paying off this year. Kendall in his 2nd year is now considered a viable backup who could start if Dickerson injured, Lampkin same at Center.

Bell as a 3rd round OT who has a lot of potential to be Lane's replacement. That would be huge to have his rookie contract as a 3rd rounder instead of 1st, and give them open options in the upcoming draft rather than be forced to draft a 1st round OT.

He also took care of contract extensions for both Davis & Carter, something many fans worried wasn't possible.

There's also the development of young players as they gain experience and only get better. Hunt is now the top Edge, after his rookie season many thought he was a JAG. Trotter is now considered starter caliber, people wondered about him as a rookie. Mukuba started as a rookie, hopefully he shows year two growth. Even Ty Robinson showed signs of life after being considered a bust.

Suh was never as productive but he would be another comparison point. He was physically a very different player. He also came in mid way through the season. Just looking back at the season, he only ended up playing 16% of the snaps on defense. If they get that kind of production from Donald and pay him $20 million, that would be horrendous for them but feel good for the rest of the League.

He'll be 36 later this year and coming off a torn ACL

Sounds like a Howie signing

Probably would be midseason especially if they need a TE pass catcher at that point

Tbh having him here would actually help on field but maybe more importantly he helps stowers in learning to be a tight end in the nfl. I feel like this move wouldn’t just be for depth as ertz at this stage of his career can be useful as a backup player but also useful helping a young kid

Howie has had an amazing offseason. Yes, Woolen signing is huge. As long as Greenard is who we think he is, that will tip the scales for me. Getting a 1st rounder for AJ Brown, even if it's 2 years from now is an A grade trade. I'm only nitpicking, when I ask for help at safety, tight end and kicker. They could still be fine in those 3 positions that are supposed weaknesses. I am coming from the viewpoint that we had/have a potential dynasty here and don't wanna flub it. Last year was a wasted opportunity in what was a juggernaut 2024 roster and I think it was somewhat mishandled in miscalculations. This year Howie corrected pretty well. I think fans should be excited.

Agree but Weru showed more than Mailata did his first TC.

Perhaps true. But developmental pass rushers with intriguing traits come around every year. Mailata was more of a unicorn at a more critical position. His upside was much more significant. That made him worth the wait.

I just don't see how that works. To be TE3??? Mundt would still be the blocking TE they purposely targeted. I didn't think Ertz would want a TE3 role.

3 safeties is crazy.

CB lack of depth is a major problem.

The lack of depth in those 2 positions will affect the season if its not fixed. But Im sure Howie knows that.

My question is- did we keep the best 53? Or did we keep a few guys we just hoped we could trade? And if they werent our best 53, then is the trade market even there?

Maybe we would be better off if we had Gushiken or Wisniewski on the team rather than Dalton and only 3 safeties.

Maybe the upside of Weru, or the play of Jake Majors made those guys more appealing than a backup blocking TE4.

And what the hell is Mondon still doing here?

I am hoping we claimed a CB or will trade for one today

I think if Goedert is set to miss games then it becomes more of an option

I’d love to get Joly off waivers but i don’t see the eagles doing it (i don’t think eh provides the skillset they need right now at TE and they have stowers as their developmental guy) and i can see a team before us take the chance on claiming him.

Also interested in geno stone. I’m not thrilled with depth at safety. Hoping playing in a more talented defense that he may give you quality depth as he wasn’t great last year.

I have heard on here that he has had a terrible offseason. So I don't know what to think now.

Howie is very consistent. He has clear targets in extensions and FA. He has a plan when a FA he wants to sign does not sign with the team. He goes into the draft not having big holes to fill. I think there are always some head scratching decisions. One of them was the trade for Dalton. The other was the money paid to Elliot and lack of competition. I agree his trade for AJ was as good as the team could get.

The concern I have for the team is really health and the question mark at OC/passing game.

And the claim order doesn't adjust after a claim is successful. The Raiders are always 1st. The only limitation is how many guys can you add to your 53.

Only 31 guys got claimed out of 1200 last year. It’s always less guys than you think

Yeah i could see teams who are going to be bad taking a chance. Vegas even with bowers, dolphins can use anyone with a pulse that can catch a ball, titans, browns even with fannin, ravens can use depth as well as Carolina.
