With all these injuries we better have some depth too. This is gonna be a long process I'm afraid. Maybe 1 GM in the league who can accelerate this. That is Howie. I think this has a lot of unwinding to do still. For instance, if a guy like Davis and/ or Greenard aren't pillars we are stuck with them wasting years here. And I'll mention Carter as well just because he's getting paid 2 salaries and yet to be worth it. Howie got married to maybe the wrong peeps here. At one time there was a nucleus we could count on with this defense. Right now it's all pretty debatable. The offense has very little of a reliable nucleus currently. On offense a TE and at least one guard would make a huge difference. Jeff needs to come back.On defense drafting an edge top 10 could transform the line. Getting constant pressure would help the secondary as well along with Carter. They need a legit safety. I'd also bring Blank back on the cheap if he gets cut. Mukuba could be fine next to a legit one and Blank would be nice depth or a replacement.Gotta keep Trotter. Need to draft or sign CB2.They can't do everything but those are doable in one offseason.Everyone wants a QB but this isn't the draft I'd get one in the top 10 unless Drew is there. If he is fine. Otherwise, build the D line. They don't need a WR either. Trade back and let someone else get him. Generational or not that's not how you build a team. People should understand that two years from the DL dominating. An extra first for trading back and a top edge is more valuable than the next Moss or Calvin.
October 27Oct 27 Just catching up on the game now. Embarrassing effort on defense. Not much else to say about that side of the ball. PS, maybe practice kick returns a little bit. No one back there could field a ball to save their life.

Hard to replace. It's a new era coming. We had smoother transitions in the past with passing the baton. Feels harder this time. Leadership isn't looking hot with this squad.
October 27Oct 27 Fangio absolutely refusing to adjust vs the run was ridiculous too. What game was he watching? How long can you play with two safeties deep while they run for 7 YPC?

Losing Dean was bigger than we thought

That is one of the most underrated losses we've had here. If you look at it we were buying stock of Campbell when we should be buying Dean. We should be buying Milton instead of JD. There's some crucial decisions here missed. This is a different defense with these 2 alone. Hate to harp on all of that. Oh well. We are stuck with some of these dudes for a couple more years here. Can hope they get better. But not optimistic there.

But there’s a couple things going on. First, there’s some guys that just look like they quit. When you watch it, you could see effort just not where it was earlier in the year or like they are just going through the motion. Like Jalen Carter kind of felt like he was going through the motion. Woolen looks like he quit and just poor technique. Greenard might be injured, but it looked like he had no want to be on that field and just cashing checks. then there’s just some guys that just aren’t very good. Like Davis hasn’t been good. Campbell is just bad. He’s clueless in coverage and can’t shed blockers. He’s actually worse than his rookie year. dejean still doesn’t look good. Mukuba just looks like an avg safety especially when asked to play with Moore who’s clearly still learning the position. Ebiketie just sucks especially setting the edge against the run (albeit not asked much to do so) Then there’s guys like Jalyx hunt that doesn’t look like he should be out on the field. He looks like he’s playing through an injury but they need him to be out there. I’m surprised he’s back after missing just a game. That looked like an injury that should’ve put him on IR or at least a 3 week injury. Watching him be really doesn’t have any burst off the line and i don’t think it’s an effort thing.

I think you are right that a few are quitting. Riq needs to go ASAP if that's the case.

Now Howie has got very little leverage with a 2-5 spiraling squad and guys looking bad. Not too soon to start trading tomorrow morning. Get the practice squad ready. This has to be a full on tank which has really never happened with Howie. Can't see it any other way. Think we have been in stealth mode for a couple weeks now. This did not feel or look like a team playing for their playoff lives recently. No urgency at all.

October 27Oct 27 This basically sums up the embarrassing effort this defense gave in last night’s game. And it’s not something that just came all of a sudden. Only was able to watch the second half, but that was plenty enough to be disgusted with the atrocity of the defense. They’ve regressed to an abysmal state - unbelievable for a Fangio D.They still cannot stop the run and get no sustained pressure whatsoever. The line was getting blown off the ball and tackling was lacking once again. I wanted them to extend JD… boy was I ever wrong with that. Signing JC and JD to these huge contracts might turn out to be one of the worst mistakes in recent history. The offense with McKee actually played way better than I would’ve expected and they did enough for a win. Can’t see them winning another game with this type of effort. The D has apparently given up completely, while the O is at least trying.
October 27Oct 27 Ugly game, but, we all knew it was coming. There aren't many positives with this roster. Offensive line has some new guys, young guys in there so I think that buys them an extremely small amount of leeway, but how about the defense?Davis sucks. Hunt sucks. Nolan sucks. Greenard sucks. Carter is hurt constantly. Ojomo looks like he doesn't care anymore. Coop sucks. Campbell sucks.Every safety on this team sucks. Good grief.

October 27Oct 27 If Ojomo isn’t hurt too bad, he’ll be first to go. Riq has to be on some kinda upswing to get dealt. Goedert, I guess? Steen? Bailing on Jihaad Campbell while he still has his draft shine?I don’t know who else you could even trade at this point. Saquon’s injury is too nagging. Nolan Smith is one of the only guys with heart left on the defense, I’d think twice before letting him go. Baun makes the entire defensive scheme work (when it does work anyway…) and should still be good for another couple years - I’d be against moving him.

This team needs a full rebuild. We realistically need a new DC, OC, OL coach and head coach, and a roster influx of talented players.
October 27Oct 27 On a positive note, I went to bed at 9:30pm not even thinking this was worth staying up to watch! Glad I did, I'd have been really pissed staying up to watch that performance!
October 27Oct 27 Silver lining 1: Top 2 pick is in reach!Silver lining 2: This year will be bad enough to finally get a real coach in here.Silver lining 3: Team could bounce back next year just by getting healthy.

Retire, get traded, whatever go suck somewhere else so we can see what we have in the young guys. He is completely useless in pass pro, to his credit he looked good in the run game in the first half.

October 27Oct 27 So it drives me crazy for our offense to have a QB whose weakness is passing and whose skill set limits what we can do on offense. It’s just hard for me to support the idea of building around that moving forward. That said…that’s my only complaint about Hurts. Setting aside how obnoxious some of his most vocal supporters are, I don’t feel the need to argue over the past or his legacy or diminish that…or prove right my believe he was mostly carried to that success. I just care about moving forward and am happy for him to have a legacy as the greatest QB in franchise history given the wins they had while he was here. Why am I talking about Hurts when he hasn’t played for 2 weeks? Because the above paragraph should loosely apply to Sirianni too. He’s getting some rough insults right now and getting dragged through the mud. No one wants to project a goofy personality who doesn’t contribute to the offense as the HC moving forward (and no one is…he’s getting fired). But show some degree of respect for what happened here on his watch. Because whether you believe he was riding coat tails to that success or not (see above), it did happen on his watch.
October 27Oct 27 Loved Dean. Would he make a difference here this season? Raiders have lost 4 in a row giving up 30, 45, 33, and 35 in those games.
