Seahawks are right back up there again. With that defense and this trade. Yes, Howie has been good at robbing peeps in the AJ and Jurgens trades. Both a shell of themselves. Needs to continue that path.

Didn’t watch game and he had a terrible rep against Lawrence which would be the pressure but seems like he held up in pass blocking. Definitely a natural centre and not a guard. Their running game was crap though. But it's the Bengals defense

But they had insiders and beats talk about his coaching in general. It was not flattering for him either. based off of what a couple of the beat writers and people who were close to the situation, he had a bunch of issues with players and treated guys poorly. He was kind of a Dbag even if he proves dolphins and the nfl were discriminatoryThose were the same kinds of reports we got about Fangio in Miami too though. Common denominator being maybe the Dolphins are soft as hell. Would explain why they remain bottom feeders while both Flores and Fangio went on the have elite defenses elsewhere.

There’s some value in that, but when there’s no brain behind it, years like this happen. We’ve collapsed in 2023, 2025, and completely crumbled this year.Hurts is much more debatable, but he’s just gonna age like milk. If he comes back fully cleared, this is a franchise changing selling window.Well, Nick had success and got to a super bowl before Fangio, and he arguably could've won that game had his DC not mentally checked out. The field also sucked too. Anyway, years like this are due to injuries. I think Nick's dumb decisions cost us 2 games this season, but I also don't think he's in those positions with a healthy team. 2023 we collapsed due to the league's worst defense. 2025 wasn't really a collapse as we were pretty inconsistent and bad offensively all season. Patullo was bad, but we also had poor OL play. Plus, high turnover at the OC position is never a good thing. Teams (and QB's) don't generally have success when a new OC/scheme is installed each year. Now you guys are talking about blowing it all up entirely and thinking lightning is just going to strike again.

It's not that they haven't done an incredible job (2 SB's tell us they have)...but they have a way of doing business that is not going to be for everyone. I know all owners have egos and want to dabble in the affairs of the team. Howie has certainly earned that level of trust, but he is GM for life. Prospective coaches will know that they have to be deferential on personnel, will get overruled on assistant coach transactions, AND will fall on the sword before the GM does. That's not for everyone.Steichen has had success here before and knows the hierarchy. He's also soon-to-be-fired. So he's not going to be on the top of everyone's list. If anyone with a combination of experience and youth can also buy into the program here, it's him.
October 27Oct 27 The Colts have an interim GM making trades. There is literally no pressure on him to get all value because he will not be the GM making picks. If he gets 80 percent of max value, that’s probably good enough to him.

October 27Oct 27 Lurie has never hired a defensive head coach; I don't think it's in his makeup. He had Andy as an architect, Chip who was supposed to be an architect, then Doug and Nick who are more "emotionally intelligent" at dealing with the modern-day NFL player.Regardless of which direction they go -- whether it be stick with Mannion and Sirianni one more year or bring in a new regime -- Howie needs to focus on rebuilding the trenches. They need a bonafide finisher off the edge and build up the IOL talent again. Hopefully Greenard can find his form later this season. As far as a new offensive scheme goes, it was a mistake to try to push that in with the same QB who is only effective as a dual-threat. Ideally, you'd want to draft your next QB and pair him with an offensive architect -- which may be what they end up doing in 2028.I hated the thought of watching Hurts regress for two more years before they could get out of his contract. With him out for this season, he'll have time to heal up by March, and the Eagles will know medically which way they need to go at the draft.

Is not a great Xs and Os coach to begin with and before the year made switches from the offense he came up through the coaching ranks with. Sirianni is more of a CEO coach than the Seahawks. Macdonald doesn’t run the offense but he does more than just CEO HCYup, that's what I'm getting at. The original post was talking about we'd have the Sirianni issue if we hired Flores, but we wouldn't, we'd have (ostensibly) a Vic with more modern ideas who calls plays on D, but yes we'd still need to worry about our OC getting poached every year, but at least the D would be set and wouldn't be dependent on DC. Right now we're lucky that Vic doesn't want to go anywhere, but if he did, we'd have to worry about both sides being poached....right now we just have to worry about one side retiring.Edit: But as other in here have said, I'd prefer an O minded coach. Steichen would be good, has proven he can get things out of Hurts (if they keep him) and that he can function as part of a good team of coaches and can call plays, but I'd prefer someone more innovative.

At some point in time if you piss off enough players like Flores and Josh McDaniels did you’re gonna get fired.

Flores is almost 25 years younger. That's kind of a different situation as far as getting a new HC gig. And I'd argue Miami firing Flores had a lot more to do with a hot young HC candidate becoming available in McDaniels than him pissing off players.
October 27Oct 27 If Howie were to be a a buyer, it should only be for young guys at the end of their rookie deal that don't want to sign with their team. Like, the Jets have been a farm team for the rest of the NFL who they got? 🤣
