September 14Sep 14 Dickerson had an entire offseason. He’s on IR to stay. Now…I 100% support their approach to training camp and preseason. They keep the roster healthy and are, what, 5-0 in week 1 under Siri? That said, this speaks to the downside of their approach. You can only know so much about your players with zero contact and we witnessed the coaches find out at the same time as the fans that Dickerson was unplayable.
September 14Sep 14 So maybe he is injured?I have a hunch he's not really injured, but he has to say crap like this because he doesn't want Howie to get in trouble for circumventing the rules. I'm gonna guess he'll stay on IR for quite a while and if at some point this season he feels rejuvenated they give him a try(especially if the backups suck too). And if not, he stays there and just retires.
September 14Sep 14 I plan on doing a weekly series where I create one image a week to best recap the game the day before. Here is for week 1.

Don't see a bench role. And he's probably toast even in that capacity. That may be a career. That is sad. But I really think we have a competent bench to figure out the future. If he retires, it will be in the offseason with paperwork filed after June 1 to split the cap charge between 2027 and 2028. If he is shot, they can leave him on IR all year. His contract is fully guaranteed for 2026, nothing for 2027 ($2.11 million will guarantee on 3rd day of league year, which he can change).
September 14Sep 14 Enormous respect for Dickerson. For what he’s done in the past and for how he owned that.

This is the classiest way to bench him, rest him, let him study and re-evaluate later in the year. Also, see what Kendall has before the trade deadline.

Heck i said he’s never going to have that type of athleticism like pre 2024. My issue was if he declined and he was having scheme blocking issues then to look even worse til he got comfortable in it. Him being physically declined is different than if he actively got hurt again and they tried to play him through the ailment. Assuming the ailment is trueFurthermore, if he’s telling the truth where someone rolled him in practice and they knew about it, and he wasn’t feeling right, and they still let him go out there that is even dumber. Had last year with knowledge of how he looked playing through a injury

September 14Sep 14 I don’t know. I feel like IR is a more graceful way of benching him. Before the game, they were saying he’s healthy. Now it's obvious he can't play.

But yeah, this is giving him a way to publicly save face and hope to figure it out. Classy move by him and the team.
September 14Sep 14 Well it also frees up a roster spot so it isn’t just about not hurting his feelings. If they don’t feel he’s playable then better to add someone to the roster who is in place of him. Morris/Lampkin are the backups now. How comfortable they’ll be with that, we’ll see. They had all offseason to give Becton a call so I’m not expecting that. Still think an Ertz signing could happen though.

I think it’s a culmination of previous injuries taking a toll and his body not being able to overcome whatever this new injury is.He’s taken a total beating ever since college. We knew this was a potential problem when we picked him. I think he proved worthy of that pick, but the body has failed him. I just want him to be able to walk when he’s 50.

Now, the extension is different conversation. But he had an outstanding career here.

So they let him roll his ankle/knee in practice and they knew he wasn’t feeling good (looked like it was effecting him prior to regular season) then they just let him out there to play even though they saw the results last year. It would’ve been far better for him to say i got banged up in the game and re-aggravated some past injuries and tried to play through it. I feel like this way they’re gonna get a ton of questions at Sirianni’s presser and new OL coach about when that happened in practice and why would they even let them on the field knowing that happened and it was affecting him
September 14Sep 14 I feel bad for Dickerson and he seems like a great guy. I also respect him for what he gave us. He’s dope. He shouldn’t have been out there if he wasn’t healthy though. Almost cost us a an important division game. Almost got our RB and QB killed. This seems like one of those "so and so has decided to leave the company” emails when it wasn’t their choice.
