Watching again and watching the Oline more closely, Dickerson looked confused a lot. Like he didn't know who he was supposed to be blocking. Not every play, of course, but enough to make it look like he was lost a bit.

I’m under the impression that there is some slight but material benefit to Dickerson retiring in the offseason versus being cut (both with a post June 1 designation to dilute the hit).

Is that accurate?

It is the same if they cut as post June 1 or he retires after June 1, cap wise. The benefit is if he retires, and waits to file the paperwork, they don’t have to use one of the max 2 post June 1 designations on him.

In this j vs. j debate

1) I fall in the middle, but closer to just relax. Where I agree with jojo is the integration of Brown/Moore into the offense. Spreading the ball around has two plusses IMO. (A) it makes it hard on the opposing Defenses, and (B) the process of using all the receivers will be very good for Hurts development ... and acclimation into Mannion's Offensive scheme.

2) Here I fully agree with just relax. It is not that Tank is necessarily bad at blitz pickup and/or receiving, but it is more that Shipley is quite good at them.

3) Here too I agree with just relax, especially if Brown/Moore are indeed integrated more into the Offense. That means you are going with a minimum of 3 WRs. With Goedert healthy, where would Ertz get any snaps ... or if you do go with 2 TEs , DG am]nd Ertz, how do you accomplish the Brown/Moore integration?

My main line of thinking is in most years, Goedert misses a few games. This offense can't afford a non factor at TE. This offense relies on having a lot of tight end usage. Stowers is red shirted for me as of now and won't count on much this year. Really have nothing proven, in the way of pass catchers backing up TE. Please don't mention GC. 😅

On top of that, he shouldn't cost much. Since coming off of injury, he won't be commanding a ton of snaps. At first, comes in for packages. Maybe implement in RZ with 2/3 TE looks. As a side bonus, would also be a good mentor for Stowers.

There is the sentimental side as well, like to see him make amends in Philly and break that receptions record. Most likely gets broken by Devanta later, but something to cheer for.

The Commanders getting 4 ypc is pretty embarrassing too if we're being critical. Their OL is absolute garbage, we've invested heavily in our DL and ILB, and they have a bottom 3 RB room in the NFL. Absolutely no reason for that matchup to be remotely close.

Daniels and Diggs was their main offense and lit us up. They won't be pushovers this year, if Daniels stays healthy. They play hard with that coach. I expect all the Giants, Cowboys and Redskins games to be pretty tight games this year. I believe they will lose 2 of those 6 games.

dont get me wrong, I thought it was hilarious he got flagged but that is just such a STUPID rule. No wonder they call it the No Fun League.

Blame Jimmy Graham for bending the goal post and delaying his teams game years ago

Why i said i needed more time to know if he’s just completely zapped and can’t do anything physically or if he’s just not what he used to be but his head is swimming right now as he’s not comfortable with the scheme. Which in turn is making him look ever worse. I rewatched the game last night after the cowboys/giants, he looked poor physically but there were times it looked like just missed his assignment and he was supposed to do or lost in whatever he was supposed to do.

I think he’s never transforming back to 2024. However i do think he’d look better if he was confident in what he was supposed to do. Sirianni actually mentioned it, on saquon’s long run he actually blocked well.

Obviously lemon is going to have better days ahead. But i really think he winds up having like a Jordan Matthews type of career. Solid slot guy that sticks in the league. I just don’t know if he ever reaches the lofty st brown type of expectations that some analyst mentioned with him

Fran went through the failed screens and pretty much every one of them was horrible blocking. The Eagles blocked poorly all game. Almost everyone. It was bad.

Well, interestingly, Jordan Matthews put up numbers here because they had to force the ball to someone. He was a highly productive WR in college who peaked as a rookie and 2nd year player. He had a decent 40 for his size but really was not fast, quick, or explosive. He was the subject of much ferocious debate with many saying we didn't appreciate him enough and that he would go on to more success after he left. He left at the age of 25 and was immediately cast off by the rest of the NFL.

But as a rookie? The numbers were quite good.

I mean, he sustained an NFL career. He’s stuck in the NFL. I think he could probably put up similar type of statistics to Mathews if you force fed him. He doesn’t have the size JM did. but i do think he runs better routes in college and more physical. Also makes tougher catches in college. That said i meant he’d have a solid pro career he’s just never going to be the lofty comps he got to st. Brown .

I'm the captain of the distrust in Lemon bandwagon. The -5 yards are worth poking fun at, but the negative yardage comes from blocking. The lack of positive yardage...that's on him.

I hear you, but I think it's a stretch to say that Jordan Matthews stuck in the NFL and sustained a career. The Eagles traded him to the Bills as a pure throw in fodder along with a 3rd round pick for Darby. The Bills barely used him for a year and then didn't retain him. Then the Patriots signed him and cut him before the season in 2018.

The Eagles scooped him up out of desperation in 2018. In 2019, at the ripe old age of 27, he could no longer make rosters.

The Eagles were the only team in the NFL that would sustainably put him on a roster and on the field.

A missing piece yesterday in this new offense was any real effective pre-snap motion, didnt fake anyone out there. Also, like to see the jet sweep in the arsenal for good OZ potential. Just may not be there with these guys in getting too cute. This is where I think Hollywood could make a dent. Figure, they weren't gonna showcase everything in week one either. So more creativity on that front should be coming.

It was 3.7 when you take out Daniels. Also, Vic plays light boxes - inviting teams to run the ball. Challenging them to methodically move the ball downfield without getting a negative play or penalty.

You should be lauding the 4.8 yards per pass attempt the Commanders ended up with.

He was on a nfl roster in 2023 and 2024. Hence stuck around the nfl. That doesn’t mean productive. Productive? No. Stick around the nfl on a roster is not the same as being highly productive. He managed to find a way to stick around in the nfl for 10 seasons. He wasn’t productive after a good start and yet he was still making practice squads and rosters far after he wasn’t productive anymore. That to me is sticking around. Obj hasn’t been productive ina while yet still sticking around the league years after that production

Also was able to sustain a career by productive early then teams kept him around the league as he was a depth wr or teams know he could help them with learning offenses as a low end wr in a corps or PS. No offense staying in the nfl for 10 seasons is a sustained career. That doesn’t mean he was highly productive

How does Hunt apparently lead the league in pass rush win rate, but ends up on a bottom 5 list for the team? I can’t keep up with these stats/analytics anymore.

I’d have to look deeper but I’m guessing he wasn’t great against the run and there were containment issues at times with guys.

Not just him, the entire offensive line looked like that at times. That’s why I’m saying I don’t think they are bad as they performed yesterday. Several plays you could see the confusion allowing for missed blocking assignments and free runners, hell even Lane made a mistake allowing Barkley to be hit in the backfield. These guys had 0 preseason snaps together and this is an entirely new offense and blocking scheme. So I’d say the more in games reps and tape they get to make corrections, the better it’ll look

Here's the real path to a SB for the Eagles...

And I mean this as a compliment, not a backhanded one...the NFL sucks this year.

The Rams were supposed to be the league's one superteam. And week 1 is quirky, so they still may be that. But I think the impact of Donald and Garett together, at their age, is potentially ferociously overhyped. And another year on Stafford isn't helping.

The defending champs are going to have major QB and offense issues.

The Eagles aren't that good. Sorry guys. They aren't. But they are a veteran team that knows how to find ways to gut out wins on the biggest stages under the most pressure. (I'm talking about the Eagles but might as well be singling out Hurts with that exact assessment). And this could be one of those seasons where a not-that-good team led by a not-that-good franchise QB that just knows how to win steals a Superbowl because the rest of the league is asleep. See Kansas City Chiefs in 2023 or New England Patriots in 2018.

If a player is top 5 in the league, they are doing something right. If they are bottom 5 in the league, they are doing something wrong. Anything in between, trust your eyes over PFF.
