Defense snap counts

Screenshot 2026-09-17 160701.png

I just want to point out just how bad 70 snaps is for a defense. I think the league average last year was like high 50s? So at least 10 fewer per game. Over the entire season it's 170 extra snaps, so 2.5 more games' worth than the average team. Not sustainable for 17 weeks, the offense needs to get better and the defense needs to create more turnovers.

😂 stat padding with 5 possessions total? Two in the second half? They scored on their last drive, were one score down when NY got the ball the last time to run out the clock. C’mon man. As crappy as they played they were still in the game, that’s not padding stats, that’s competing (or at least trying to) Forced four fumbles in the game, they could’ve forced another and scored on that last NY drive.

I’m not saying they could’ve/should’ve won, I’m saying calling what he did stat padding is ridiculous.

Blog definition of "stat padding” when it comes to Dak: Fourth quarter stats that add to his game stats or even season stats but don’t really affect the game outcome. Basically, Dak is a guy that is top five in certain stats and in that midlin range for results.

Remember that while we try to be realistic, we are Philly fans but you can’t deny the truth of the definition. Thought the same of Tony Romo. Dak is a "should be but” sort of guy.

Hate to say it...Carter got paid. He's done.

😂

This doesn’t count unless you start a whole thread with this as the title.😆

That’s fair, and honestly appreciated. I think if you read through my posts I’ve pretty much agreed with the EMB consensus on what Dak is. He just hasn’t gotten it done when it counts..period.

A whiners page. That explains it. Wasn’t ranting at you.

Bill may be hating the UNC decision, although it is a place that kind of fit the cheat mentality at the Pats. They are the university that was caught with basically ghost classes for athletes and got off easy. Now Lombardi and his son dismissed for inappropriate behavior.

Really, there's no winning this game in terms of optics unless it's in the bag by halftime. The Jets were ahead 23-3 last week in Tennessee until garbage time. A close game this Sunday will be very concerning for the Eagles prospects versus better teams.

Bonus -- Lemon averages more than 10 yards per catch (in the proper direction)

The eye opener is Jordan Davis only playing 49% of the snaps. Especially, with playing the 5 man fronts a bunch. He was gassed with playing less than half of the snaps. Dang!

Wasn't that an issue in the beginning of his career? He didn't have that problem in 2025 or at least I can't remember. Wonder if he did something different that he didn't do last season?

I guess we'll find out more tomorrow. This was my worry when they drafted him. Not from a talent perspective but he is very slight. In other words, small. People thought he would put on 10lbs or so but there is nowhere to put it. Hope he plays as they are paper thin at safety.

@mattwill

31-16. Eagles get to 2-0, baby.

I agree, there are/were just too many unknowns for DAL fans, and even worse, the writers and analysts, to have gotten overly excited and giddy this year. As @vikas83 said, the hype was not merited. I will never understand the hype train for the DAL franchise and I am a fan, a big fan. Some folks are just fans of a team without really understanding all the factors that go into creating a successful franchise, and there is nothing wrong with being an average uneducated fan. Things like roster and coaching personnel management, management style, scouting, cap management, and team identity/personality/locker room traits among other things ultimately have significant impacts on the success of an organization. I believe fans like us (EMB) and similar, what I would call educated fans, can be rational. The average fan? Not so much, if their team isn't winning they are screaming for change without realizing everything at play. Trade this, sign this FA, fire this coach or coordinator. Those decisions are not that simple and have lasting effects.

I am pissed that things didn't go better against NY defensively, but not to the point where I think CP can't do this job. Schotty showed last year he can put together a good offense. Yeh Jerry didn't F things up like he normally does this offseason, but the season isn't over. I will lose my f'ing mind if he doesn't give this staff a chance to get things right, give them a couple of years to overcome HIS previous mistakes that have put them where they are. Accountability exists across all levels of the organization. If he judged himself the way he has judged some of his previous employees he would have fired himself long ago.

TLDR - The hype was/is not merited, the ownership still sucks, the defense needs a lot of work, average fans are irrational, and I still love DAL.

Sorry for the rant. Be thankful you all have a legitimate franchise with great leadership.

I am hopeful that Jerruh becomes frustrated and cans CP, because his ego is too big to admit he has a secondary that doesn’t match the D. Right about the time we need Parker because Fangio retires.

EJ Smith said he thought they may use Kendall to make protection calls because they think he may be better than Jurgens. That's why they may consider moving him to center. I don't know why it all needs to be secret.

I just have serious doubts anyone associated with the offense told EJ, we think Kendall makes better protection calls than Jurgens. BTW, still believe they are still in the same arrangement as when Kelce retired, meaning Hurts has a role in the OL calls.

Fred Johnson at LG does feel like a troll from the Eagles Are you really going to put the #1 back Tackle in at LG?

The closed portion of practice presumably had a different look to it

I suspect your second sentence is true. I did say that Fred is the backup G/T. He has played G. I think that may influence the active OL this week with Bell the swing, Lampkin the C/G and Fred the G/T. Getting Fred some LG snaps in warmups isn’t necessarily just trolling but rather cross training.

Any reasonable Eagles fan would root against the Bills due to all the undue love that Josh Allen gets nationally while losing in the playoffs and when he plays Hurts, meanwhile Hurts just collects Conference Championships and Super Bowls and gets nothing but hate.

Bills stadium is beautiful and on grass. Love it
