Barham was lost and hesitant, Malachi Lawrence had zero impact. It’s going to take some time to develop what CP wants to do with the young guys (if they’re the right guys), it’s also going to take some time for him to grow into a seasoned DC.I’m an optimist but also a realist, it’s going to take some time, at least a year or two if not longer. If DAL tries to trade for a LB before the deadline I will not be happy (seen a few writers clamoring for a big name backer), as horrible as the LBs are, getting a good one doesn’t fix things. Hopefully they’re out of it before the deadline even gets close so they can focus what they have and evaluate for the next few moves without wasting resources. It is what it is.Philly was running copies of the Fangio defense from 2021-2023, so we had been selecting personnel suited to that system. Dallas going from a 4-3 to a 3-4, and then having just AWFUL players at corner, always meant this would be a multi-year transition. Add on that the players added this offseason (Gary, Winters, Thompson) are solid, but not impact players. Sure, Quinnen Williams can play in any system, but beyond that, there seem to be a lot of players that don't fit (edge players that never dropped in space, as an example). The hype over Dallas this offseason, especially the defense, was insane. The theory seemed to be that Jerry didn't act like a moron and did somewhat logical things for once - basically, he wasn't good, but he wasn't a complete disaster. That's not enough. Also, everyone just assumed zero regression on offense from a historical level last year, which is nuts.

All "reporting” like this is pure speculation (and 90% clickbait). Who the heck is FTNTFantasy that prepared that chart? What is that person or organization that makes them better than any message board?I wasn't vouching for the site, I made a joke. It's a 49ers fan page.
September 17Sep 17 The Titans game should be a blowout. But until proven otherwise, I'm not going to assume blowout with this team until they show it. It's gonna be hot as hell, guys are gonna be gassed, it's a road game, the Titans are coming off an embarrassing effort so they'll be motivated... and Hurts has struggled against Saleh defenses. I think it could be another one score game.

September 17Sep 17 I've had a hunch for some time now that Hollywood Brown is going to be traded before the deadline. Maybe something like a sixth rounder in '28. There's no way they're going to carry 7 WRs on the active roster for the duration.

The NCAA, under pressure from the House case issued a change in the rules after the kids that had been limited to four years (excepting the stupid "permissions” only the NCAA can grant) prepared for the draft. That change was from four years with one redshirt year to five years. They knew they weren’t going to make NIL level money as PS players, at best, so they sought to get that fifth year that every kid currently playing college ball has. Yes, LSU exploited it.Yes, they were courted and recruited by Kiffin and facing being kicked out of the SEC, LSU said, screw these kids. Yes, the NFL looks at college as developmental. So it wants to do everything to get along with the colleges. But what in the CBA, the limited antitrust exemption, or NFL bylaws allows for what it in essence a discrimination against those players for seeking the fifth year?Let’s look at Porter Martone as an example. Drafted by the Flyers and then plays at MSU. So for hockey, it’s okay? How about Thierry Darlan? He’s the G League player that the NCAA allowed to return to college. Seems hypocritical. So looking at that we blame not ready for prime time football players who tried to return under the new five years rule? Now under the current situation the NCAA says no. They are eligible under NFL rules, age and years of play, so the only reason that Goodell (royal a$$hole in my view) had for this edict is to punish these kids for seeking the current rule to apply to them (which wasn’t available until after the draft). Only bigger a$$hole than Roger is the NCAA for not announcing the rule in January. Frankly, the fact they didn’t reeks a little of collusion with the NFL.Somebody please check on my buddy @NCiggles because I am afraid that my next statement may shock him. These kids should sue Roger. (Yep, I can be pro-plaintiff when appropriate). First thing out the gate is discovery (requests for production, interrogatories, and, my favorite, requests for admissions) on the NFL and NCAA to see what communications they had during this time frame. My bet is both would settle with an NDA quicker that you can blink an eye. Remember, the NFL is already dealing with Gruden and Flores in front of separate juries on employment issues. I do not believe the NFL’s far more limited than MLB’s antitrust exemption will shield Roger from saying to 32 separate corporations that you can’t hire these individuals this year because????I have a blind and irrational hate for Lane Kiffin…what peeves me the most is offering the kids NIL deals to lure them in and then saying NVM.The thing that makes this pretty unique is that IIRC neither of these kids were drafted. Which with the NHL example, an NHL team can draft a college kid and retain exclusive signing rights till they’re done. Once they receive or sign an actual contract and start getting paid, their amateur status is revoked. I believe the MLB works the same…but the MLB has it’s own weird things, like buying children’s rights. This is going to be an interesting thing to watch come come CBA time. The fabric that connects the FBS and NFL is a lot different than the other major sports. There’s exponentially more money involved. Color me not shocked that the hastily implemented NIL system is completely blowing up in the NCAA’s face.I wouldn’t blame the kids for going after both entities…the right thing to do would be for Roger to pony up and essentially give these kids a top tier UDFA contract package for payment as the process hopefully finds a resolution, let them finish school and hopefully they get another chance at the NFL level. Unfortunately with the Not For Long League, a year removed from football will completely torpedo their chances at a future in the NFL, which was already bleak given their UDFA status.

Dart converted every single one of them. The defense allowed him to go 23/29. There were a few tight window throws where he was on target but a lot of throws with too much space. Ground & pass game was just so far ahead of the defense and busted coverage, it was just demoralizing for DAL inept defense.I just don't think you guys have the right players for that D yet, combination of lacking talent and DBs still learning their role. It's going to be ugly until those things gel. Seems like a bunch that is still playing like individuals and some may not even be scheme fits, not that I know exactly what Parker's scheme is.

As @vikas83 said, the hype was not merited. I will never understand the hype train for the DAL franchise and I am a fan, a big fan. Some folks are just fans of a team without really understanding all the factors that go into creating a successful franchise, and there is nothing wrong with being an average uneducated fan. Things like roster and coaching personnel management, management style, scouting, cap management, and team identity/personality/locker room traits among other things ultimately have significant impacts on the success of an organization. I believe fans like us (EMB) and similar, what I would call educated fans, can be rational. The average fan? Not so much, if their team isn't winning they are screaming for change without realizing everything at play. Trade this, sign this FA, fire this coach or coordinator. Those decisions are not that simple and have lasting effects.I am pissed that things didn't go better against NY defensively, but not to the point where I think CP can't do this job. Schotty showed last year he can put together a good offense. Yeh Jerry didn't F things up like he normally does this offseason, but the season isn't over. I will lose my f'ing mind if he doesn't give this staff a chance to get things right, give them a couple of years to overcome HIS previous mistakes that have put them where they are. Accountability exists across all levels of the organization. If he judged himself the way he has judged some of his previous employees he would have fired himself long ago.TLDR - The hype was/is not merited, the ownership still sucks, the defense needs a lot of work, average fans are irrational, and I still love DAL.Sorry for the rant. Be thankful you all have a legitimate franchise with great leadership.
