They have earned both our emotional and objective confidence that they can do that.BUT…will they do so to the point that we can count on them as an elite unit that carries the team somewhere we want them to go?Absolutely not. Not this year.Which is a real shame.Just now, jojodancer said:The talent is mostly there, except at safety. Can replace Campbell with Trotter. The defensive line has too much talent to look this bad. This game got away and they literally beat themselves. Dalton started the spiraling and it just went in the toilet from there. Bears are just a bad match-up for us. From a coaching standpoint as well. Gotta flush it and go beat the Rams.I think a few week links are throwing everything off
September 29Sep 29 The good news is that tonight counts as 1 loss. Not 5, like many in here think. The sky is not falling.

September 29Sep 29 They always find ways to bounce on back. It's early in the season. They are dangerous down the line.

But we saw that early last season as well with Adoree getting lit. Think we see more Carter, Moore and Trotter pretty soon. All 3 add good IQ.

The only time they did was after bigby’s fumble. They gave up 10 points. Bears only had 4 possessions in the first half. Really they only had three possessions where they had a long field to go (bigsby fumble was inside red zone). Guess what they only forced one punt. the bears went 66 yards for a touchdown. And went 69 yards and got a field goal. Heck the punt they forced they gave up 34 and it flipped field position. if you don’t count the end of the game where the Bears could’ve scored, the Bears scored on 5-8 possessions. The analytical numbers, bear out the Eagles offense and defense both suck tonight. Pretending like the defense was good up until the end of the game is not true. They gave up 181 yards in the first half. To a 3rd striny quarterback down their left tackle. I would add their missed tackles was one of the worst performances of the season. They are currently ranked 31st in the league in this tackles. They have not been good. Not "a” problem. The offense is THE problem. And yes, the defense absolutely got off the field. In fact, they got off the field with 3 points surrendered from 2 red zone defenses, one of which was — you guessed it — GIVEN TO CHICAGO BY OUR OFFENSE.

So if you want to sit there and pretend like the defense was good tonight and not a problem, then go right ahead and live in denialDefense has 0 turnovers this year.Defense can’t get consistent pressure.Campbell giving up 138 passer rating in coverage. Defense gave up a 40 yard TD to Kalif Raymond with a 3rd string QBAlso thank odunze for dropping a wide open TD with Nolan smith covering him. Thats one of the red zone stops. That was luck eh bobbled and dropped that wide open pass. I wouldn’t even blame the defense for that because that wasn’t even their fault. They were put in the position by the offense. However, they were super fortunate because left him wide open covered by Nolan freaking smith. So we’re gonna give him credit for stopping there. They were also Fing lucky. Odunze Fed that up Again offense is a bigger problem. However the defense should be nowhere close to this bad either.
September 29Sep 29 Wonder how much the confusion in the secondary has to do with Christian Parker gone.
September 29Sep 29 25 minutes ago, Sack that QB said:I thought Lemon looked good tonight. Was open a lot. Hurts missed him all night. He’s clearly a good player who is being totally misused by the OC and QB. The OC tries to manufacture touches for him with these absurd WR screens which never work and put Lemon in an awful position, and we have a QB who constantly misses him when he’s running open because Hurts isn’t very good going through his progressions, reading coverages, and anticipating receivers being open when they’re not the primary read.
September 29Sep 29 Vic Fangio is going to be hiding under his blanket the next time we play Ben Johnson.
September 29Sep 29 Btw if you wanna feel worse about the defense, just watch the Bears offense get totally stifled in their next game to make us feel worse about it. You know it's coming. If Keenum plays he'll throw like 3 picks next week.
September 29Sep 29 I was big on Jalyx Hunt coming into the season. Definitely bought into the training camp reports on him and he’s been inconsistent three weeks in. Needed either him or Nolan Smith to pop this year and it’s been duds for both.

If your offense can’t give the defense ANY help, any break, any time to rest and re-organize eventually they will break. And this isn’t a one game issue. This is the 4th season in a row of this problem. We flat out led the NFL in 3 and outs last season. forget this game in a vacuum. What is the theme over the last few seasons? We have seen horrible performances early in the season only for the team to find its identity and play well. On defense, I think that the Trotter move must be made. Frankly, Baun hasnt been great either but Campbell is a liability. Try him again as a pass rush rush specialist. I know he needs reps to get those insticts but we have a player with instincts on the bench. Give Moore a run at safety and, possibly, Carter. I think Greenard will them a boost once he gets his conditioning back. On offense, they showed promise in the running game. I still dont see marrying the run game with the pass game. Feels disjointed. The OL is still highly inconsistent. Need to shore up protection and assignments. Yeah, there are guys open but if one guy whiffs then Hutts isnt going to find them. And, for rhe love of god, get Dalton off this team. That whole debacle killed any chance they had of being in this game from the beginning.I'm not giving up on them but they need to get it together quickly. Overall, I feel like they need exactly the motto: Tough, Together, Disciplined. So far, I still think they are together in a moral sense but not on the same page as far as scheme and taking care of individual responsibilities. They definitly havent played tough nor disciplined.

September 29Sep 29 So I was at the game and this is what I saw…Our number one issue is the offense. It’s not close. The defense definitely underwhelmed but to only score 7 points against an average at best defense is terrible. They just seem unorganized yet predictable at the same time. In the second quarter I thought things were looking up. Barkley had a few big runs and even his non big runs were 4+ yards. But then of course there was dumb penalty or a negative play to negate it. Either way, I was confident going into halftime only down 3 when it should have been worse but then the second half was just atrocious. Offense has no identity.
September 29Sep 29 Side note…Soldier Field is a great atmosphere. The city of Chicago needs to figure out a way to get them to stay there. Loved the energy. Their fans have authentic passion for the team.

He got trucked multiple times missed multiple tackles blew a coverage couldn't cover and had a penalty.I like Kenny Moore but hes always had his most success closer to the LOS id rather put Moore at nickel and dejean at safety where I think hes a better fit but for whatever reason Vic refuses to put dejean at safety and for same unknown reasons theres people in the building that like makuba.Ive pretty vocal about my disdain for makuba day one not that I want him to fail just the opposite but I never thought he was any good. Maybe theres still time but ive seen nothing to suggest makiba is an nfl player. He's rough.

Eagles defense got lucky smith pushed him out after the bobble. Granted they were putting in a **** position by Tank. Also, the first driver of the game the Eagles defense shouldn’t have been tired. The bears just went down the field 66 yards to put up a touchdown with very little resistance. So that’s on the offense that the defense came into the game and gave up a 66 yard drive, 11 play and 6+ minutes opening drive? I don’t even disagree with you about the offense. The offense has been an issue dating back to 2023. And I said at the end of 2024 season if they try to replicate that it’s not gonna work. Cause you’re not gonna have a historic running game every year and a historic offensive line that can make up for a mediocre passing game. So I agree with you the offense is a massive problem. And it doesn’t help the defense. That said the defense had its own set of problems tonight. And they were pretty obvious when we were watching the game. They could not get themselves off the field consistently. First half first drive 11 place for 66 yards on the touchdown. Second drive 34 yards before they forced a punt which chain field position. I’m not gonna mention the turnover cause that’s not their fault. The final possession of the half they let them go 69 yards on 11 plays to get a FG. First second half possession bears go 38 yards to get a FG. Second possession 5 plays 71 yards. I will also tell you the Eagles forced to punt all night long. They had a turnover on down because odunze dropped a wide-open touchdown pass. Granted they shouldn’t have been put in that position because the offense had a horrific fumble.
