Seyed, Hoffman and Fran have kind of touched on it in different podcasts. some of the stuff they had success with in week one and two was plays/scheme/blocking they have done in the past with multiple different OCs. which lends to things sirianni likes. Which it’s fine if Mannion incorporates some of it into the offense. No reason you can’t. The bigger concern to me is if they struggle mightily with new concepts/the new stuff Mannion is implementing deeper into the season. then it could be a personnel problem, Mannion struggling as 1st time OC to get it working or both.

Hurts....

3 total sacks and 0 turnovers in 3 games with very little pressure overall

This team needs to run more swing/screen passes. Sounds crazy, I know... but hear me out.

That should lead to about a 5 win season. Then we can just blow out the entire offensive coaching staff... HC included. And we can finally bring in a coach who has a plan of his own so that we can get off this crazy OC carousel.

Hard to believe they actually got 3 sacks so far. Feels like 0.

1 was one of those ones were the QB was taken down just behind the line and didn’t feel like a sack. I can’t even remember the other 2.

Ok now I do remember the Carter sack last week. A real and important sack. That is the only one.

This loss was eye opening and shows that the two "sort of ugly” wins were cause for concern.

The offense is a mess and has been for a long time. I really didn’t expect a lot of improvement, especially due to the health issues on the O-line and the new OC. They’re a bottom of the pile Offense right now and it’s probably not gonna change much as the season moves on. I’ll gladly eat crow if they prove me wrong.

I’m way more disappointed and frustrated with the defense. They have underperformed in all three games IMO & I’m starting to believe it’s more a trend than early season issues. Stopping the run consistently has been a problem and is partially due to Fangio’s system. The D-line is nowhere close to stout. The D-ends are smallish and don’t hold up at the point of attack. Carter has had a few moments, but that’s not enough for his supposed talent. Davis got paid (I was for that) but he’s been a no show for most of the games. Paying them both could be a colossal mistake.

The linebackers are a liability in both run support and against the pass (I’d say Baun is ok, but not really good at the moment). The secondary has issues with Safety and Nickle CB.

A lot of stuff to fix going forward. Don’t think Fangio has some magic wand to address all the holes in the D. Tackling is still atrocious. Sacks and TFL are rare. Can’t even mention turnovers since we still have a goose egg there.

This frustration is based on what the defense was supposed to be - top 5 or at least top 10…. I don’t see it.

This is a 6 win team at best

I just got done rewatching some highlights and my God Jalen hurts is terrible against the blitz. He has no composure in the pocket at all. When if his first target isn't open he just pulls the ball down and runs around like a chicken with his head off. I don't know if he doesn't watch or he just process things fast enough, but it's ugly. If I was an opposing D coordinator I would blitz every time until he shows me he can beat it. He does have his moments where he's composed and steps up in the pocket and makes a throw, but it's rare.

In other words... 2026 is just an extension of 2025.

Meanwhile, Case Keenum looked like a first ballot HoFer against the blitz. Guys were running scot free all night every time we brought pressure. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

They were running scot free even when we didn't.

Play action into a blitz with scrub guards ain’t it

Also true.

That was a total embarrassment to the entire organization, from the players all the way up to the FO.

Missed tackles and blocks, blown coverages, tons of penalties, brainless turnovers. They thought they'd just roll over Keenum and the Bears, which is unacceptable given the beatdown last year. Total failure.

All the coaches failed at their jobs last night. They didn't have the team ready, poor game plans, didn't adjust in the 2nd half, and mismanaged game situations.Total failure.

And how about the FO tonight?

The stark Dalton vs. Keenum disparity not only makes them look like morons, but they have now utterly destroyed both Dalton's and McKees value. And then seeing washouts like Swift and Edwards making plays. Total failure.

The only positive is that not a single unit can say "it's them and not me.". Next week will tell you what type of season it will be.

Some of us saw the ineptitude of our team in preseason and during the first 2 games, but the folks that accused us of being "negative" shouted us down.

Can our team turn this around? Sure.

Will they this year? I doubt it.

Keenum hadn't started a game in three years either. He was composed and prepared. He knew who to get the ball to and his guys made plays. I'm starting to believe Hurts doesn't watch film, he's consistently terrible against the blitz. Hurts rarely throws the ball in space where his receivers can make a play, it's like he's aiming and not throwing.

Emmanuel Acho made a tweet at the start of the game about how great Hurts is and he's going to light the Bears up. I thought he was being sarcastic, but he wound up deleting it after people started to call him out.

My favorite Hurtsism is running out of bounce and losing yardage when all he has to do is throw it away.

Teams are going to collapse the middle of the OL with pressure and leave the middle of the field open. Hurts can’t see past it when there is pressure and leaving the middle of the field open won’t cost them. The Bears did it all night and we’ll start to see every team do it until the OL stops it and Hurts beats it.

There is going to be a LB crashing the middle of the OL on every play.

It's called coaching.
