We got the Riq that was benched multiple times and put on the trade block over the previous 2 seasons. First 2 games, I thought he was great. Communication was broken last night in the secondary. The 3rd down before the failed 4th down the bears had, the issue wasn’t smith in coverage on a WR. The issue was Smith was the only defender in coverage on that side of the field from what I saw. If the S’s aren’t capable of communicating properly then Coop needs to go back there or Vic is going to have to use him more traditionally and give him the responsibility.

The tackling is very frustrating, and when he got flagged playing out of the slot that was very disappointing as that is an element of the game he should excel at.He's not gling to magically get better, did considine become a better tackler???I'm not sure why there are so many excuses made for makuba. He cant tackle, hes too small, he was just bouncing off guys last night and every night and he hasn't been any better in coverage as hes later to the ball than always late nate Allen. A lot of times its quickly obvious who can or cant play in the NFL makuba is for me in the cant play in the NFL category.Hes awful. But he'll stay out there because of where he was drafted same as Campbell whose been bad as well.1st and 2nd round picks from that draft so far looking like hot garbage.
September 29Sep 29 Really discouraging game. The defense as a whole is bad. What makes little sense to me is playing guys you’ve invested in but can’t perform. Dalton is the most glaring, but we don’t have other options for Campbell and Mukuba? It’s unreasonable to not play your best players, regardless of where they were drafted or how much money you have invested in them. That’s a sign of an organization that has some dysfunction.Bad game by Hurts. Saw glimpses of more consistent run blocking. Play calling was a problem. Those WR screens as a whole need to be shelved. Dalton shouldn’t be on a NFL roster. Playing him there was criminal.

September 29Sep 29 Mannion may have potential and some of the stuff they’ve done on offense has looked good, but the forced screens to Lemon are alarming and that play to Devonta before the half was alarming. Because these things are utter devoid of logic. And whenever coaches do things where there’s no rhyme or reason to it, I start to question their intelligence. This whole nonsense is why I wanted Sirianni gone. Felt during the Niners game it was the end of an era and they squeezed as much out of the Sirianni fruit as they could get. Last season they were poorly coached all year, unprepared, mistake prone, no cohesion. This is 3 of the last 4 seasons now that they look this way. If worst comes to worst and thus season spirals, I don’t think it would be the worst thing in the world honestly. We won a Super Bowl a couple years ago, Howie is great at retooling. You can only change so much when it comes to coaching without changing the coach at the top.

Although I’m convinced he’s generally an idiot offensively, he does offer enough that we’ve fielded a very successful team over his tenure. I don’t think he’s incompetent as a leader, but it’s tough not to think we’ve somewhat underachieved considering the talent we’ve had. That window is closing.
September 29Sep 29 Alright here's to turning it around Sunday. I'm not so sure the Rams are as good as their reputation.

It's why in the years Howie had great offseasons we've had amazing years and the years he hasn't there have been down years. Now we're seeing how good Sirianni looks as the talent declines and it's not looking great.

I don't think Vic will let the defense collapse, due to where guys were drafted. How will things get better? That might have to do with the opponent. The Bears have a very good OL and a creative playcaller. They forced our defense to commit against the run and then did a very good job of working LB vs WR mismatches, rubs routes, insert motion, throwing under the zone, hot reads, etc. to give Keenum options to get the ball out relatively quickly. Basically, they have a lot of talent offensively an executed at a very high level.

However, i do think one of the apparent things is as a whole the approach is distributing the ball much more than the past 4 years. Smith is clearly the focal point of the passing game, but not in the way of force funneling through AJ was in previous years. We also went from high school level passing concepts last year to a scheme that seems dependent on a timing based system. The ball isn’t coming out on time or on rhythm. I used to give hurts prop for his pre snap abilities. Right now it looks like he doesn’t know what he’s seeing.

It’s his background. this is the style you want to run as an organization. The issue is your head coach (who is an offensive coach), does not know this system. His background is not in this. So you’re trying to combine what he wants and his offense with this entirely new and different scheme/system. Hope is at some point in time, the meshing works and they figure it out. There’s a chance it just doesn’t do that and it doesn’t co-exist. If it can’t then you have to make a decision. Do you wanna go forward with Sirianni. Which means likely going have to run his offense the best way that he knows how. Or if the Mannion/lafleur/mcvey/shanahan type offense is truly what you want then it likely means moving on from sirianni (not going into the hurts discussion as that’s an entirely different rabbit hole I am not going down right now)People didn't want to believe the article but maybe it was right that he just doesn't like under center

Our success rate is something like 25 percent on those plays and Hurts has been pressured a bunch.

Id bench makuba move dejean to safety and put more at nickel where hes been really good his whole career. Moore is best when at the LOS. Either way hes a much better tackle than makuba.Id bench Campbell and put in trotter. Campbell has all the talent in the world but his instincts and football iq is for crap. Put in Trotter who has a high iq doesnt take false steps and knows where to be.Would also help if JC wasn't playing with a cast but thats what it is.Two biggest problems to me on D are makuba first then campbell and theres guys on the bench can come in and play better bit they were drafted later so....

September 29Sep 29 This may be the weakest 3 game stretch the Eagles will play all season(given the Bears had a 3rd string QB) and they didn't look good in either game. Sure you can point to their record being 2-1, but that is not a good sign. I think the next two games could really get ugly. I don't think the Rams are as good as the hype but they're still better than the Eagles right now and the Jags are legitimately good. If they drop both it would be the first time this team fell under .500 since 2021.
